Thanks ever so much for sharing the cost. What I’ve seen on TH-cam videos on this camper does not actually say that almost everything is optional and an additional cost. Am now subscribed and following.
Purchased my STC in March of last year.i also have specific options above the listed price. I was very early in the queue .i have ZERO complaints about my purchase price and the full spectrum of design, innovation, forward thinking concepts and functionality gives me extreme satisfaction. Go to there HQ in Golden, sit in one and you will be captivated by the possibilities of future experiences while free ranging . This camper has opened new horizons to me in my retirement life. Best personal purchase of my LIFE❗️
Thank you for sharing your experience 😀. I agree - lots of innovation and a so much more modern look compared to the standard, old, boring looking truck campers.
Thanks for the details; always nice to learn about the choices and processes to fit it out to your liking. Good for you on reaching your goal. The adventure continues. ✨️
I have a couple of ideas for additional content: 1. How much power did your two different versions of starlink draw? How did this effect your solar/battery requirements? 2. How heavy was the final rig? 3. If you were to build out a supertramp flatbed truck camper again and you had unlimited time, what would you do differently? Do you think you overbuilt it (I know you sold it) 4. How did you insure it and how much did it cost to insure? Do you feel like if the vehicle had been stolen or destroyed that they would have covered the replacement value?
Yeah, there are plenty of options for all different use cases. I did not expect to end up where I ended up when I started. I probably would have done something different if I would have known.
No need for the negative comment. Not everyone is looking for the cheapest everything. DTAdventure is clearly a perfectionist and willing to pay for the best.
Thanks for sharing. Not easy to do for some people. I probably would of bought one of those extreme off road trailers I have seen from ROA of America. You will get an offroad apartment for that kind of money.
Totally agree that is not a cheap setup. I am fortunate and grateful that I can afford this, but I also work hard for that. I started at zero at age 30 and worked my way up to where I am today. Trailers have their place for sure, but unfortunately for my type of travels a trailer is not going to work. But they offer a cheaper entry into overlanding for sure.
Thx for the summary! How did you connect the Ecoflow solar panels to your Flagship? I don’t recall the Flagship having a connector for external panels. Thx!
@JackPien I had my shop (Basil's Garage) install an Anderson connector for the external panels with a custom adapter to connect the external panels. Very convenient and I had different lengths of cables so that that I could move the panels around to follow the sun during the day if needed.
$91K US? I am up here in Canada, after the conversion, that would be over $125,000, or the average house price where I live! I just got a truck, and started looking at campers. While I agree that ST are well built, it does seem a bit pricey. Can you suggest other models of campers that you would consider too, but at a more reasonable price pt? Appreciate any recommendations, thank you.
You have to define your use case to pick the right camper. There are a lot of cheaper options out there, but only you can identify if they are the right one for you. My use case is off-roading and need something that can take a beating without falling apart. Personally, I looked at the Alu-Cabs and FWC as well as OEV. All are great products. OEV gets quickly expensive once you start adding options and you get into the same territory as a Supertramp quickly.
Great video ! Yes expensive, BUT, if it meets your needs and you have fun exploring with your pup, then it's totally worth it. I have (2) dogs that I love going hiking with, Ridgeback and Vizsla, so maybe I need the next size up camper.....'kidding, your would be perfect 🙂Now I wonder if it would make sense to consider an F150 hybrid with 7.2 on board generator as base, and then you may not need as much sophistication / batteries etc in the camper..... I am in the research/learn phase
It really depends on what your use case looks like. If you go on short trips only, your need for a shower and other amenities is significantly less (nice to have, but much easier to live without them). The F150 has lower payload. Check the sticker in the door for your GVWR. The fill up the tank and go and get it weight. Then weigh yourself and the dogs and what gear you already have that you plan on taking. How much is left between that weight and the GVWR from the sticker? Years ago I had a F150 Crew Cab and put a topper on the bed. That topper alone added about ~200 lbs in extra weight.
This is a fantastic, well thought out video. All of your upgrades are real world examples and very similar to how I would option it as well. Thanks for the tip on the composting toilet. The Tiny requires a vent. How much composting material do you have to carry for a week or 2? Also, did you take your hp starlink to the same spot as your residential? How much of a difference? Even the new gen is an interesting compromise between power and performance.
Thank you. I appreciate you. I am not necessarily using the Trelino with composting material, but I use their compostable bags. I did take Starlink to the same spot for comparison and had fantastic connectivity. I also tried it here at home in a densely populated area and it was clearly outperforming the regular dish. It was partially faster than my cable Internet.
Does you glow step fold up and stay there with a lanyard or do you pull them off and store while driving. I also have an ST camper and am trying to figure out how to mount it. Cheers.
I take them off and put them inside the camper - right at the door for easy access and installation. For one my steps are not the model they sell that stay permanently attached and second - I go off-road a lot and they would get really dirty if outside. It is not a big deal for me to mount and dismount them. If you are not a member yet - join the Facebook Supertramp owners group. Lots of great people there sharing all their knowledge specifically to the Supertramp.
When I talked to Supertramp the last time, a flatbed was not on their roadmap. They seem to focus on the Megatron and the high-end market similar to the Hilt or Earthroamers.
@@dtadventure4x4 i didnt mean it in any negative way. I also have a pop up camper that lots of people tell me I paid too much for. I think anyone should do whatever they want to do and spend their money however they choose, just saying that's a lot of add ons!
@@dtadventure4x4 I have a 4 Wheel Camper Project M. Have had it for a year and I love it. I needed something I could easily pop off when I need to use my truck for hauling stuff, but needed something to keep my young family off the ground when we go camping. It's the perfect fit for my application. Happy exploring!
So Supertramp installed the wrong/undersized charge controllers? That’s shocking it got through production. Did you get compensation from them for this mistake?
I would not say wrong as it was the only option available. Wrong for my needs. The system was designed for one or two batteries - not for four. It's a young company and they are learning and adjusting as they go. I was aware of that when I placed my order in August 2022. It's a risk I was willing to take and I expected that I will have to make some upgrades on my own after the purchase. Maybe not to the extend I did, but I also did not have enough information about my own power needs at that time.

Glad it was helpful! And I agree - information has been lacking a bit. I never expected to end up at $91K, but you can't just stop in the middle.

My goodness $91k for a truck camper! Glad you're having fun, but for that kind of money, I think better options exist.

Apples and oranges? It's less than half the cost of a new Aston Martin Vantage. What's your point?
