Richmond Stories: From Farm to Table

Like Indigenous Peoples before them, early settlers were attracted to Richmond by the area’s rich resources, including its fertile delta soils. Early market farmers grew fruit, vegetables and dairy for residents of the Lower Mainland. Even today, 39% of Richmond’s land base remains in the Agricultural Land Reserve and the city is home to one of the largest cranberry industries in North America.
