@@EnglishCountryLife absolute joy to see these 🐥 . Overwhelming 🥹
Welcome back Fabulous. The leg's looking good. With regard to bedding materials I noticed that you didn't mention hemp. We use it over here and found it to be way better than wood shavings. It is more absorbant than wood shavings and you just know that some people out there are going to confuse wood shavings with woodchips , it's widely available and about the same price. And you can easily get dust free hemp as you can with wood shavings , used extensively by horse keepers. You of course know all this but maybe some of your viewers are hemp virgins. Hope this helps. 🙂
I don't think hemp is widely available here, I've not seen it
@@EnglishCountryLife I found it available from equestrian suppliers when I was looking for some. Managed to get it on line from a French outlet. But it was available in the UK as well. Not sure if poultry suppliers are stocking it ?
@@chrishamilton-wearing3232 I'll look out for some
I use hemp but it is expensive. I am a hobbyist (4 chickens) and when I change out the bedding it costs about $20! (1/3 of the $65 cube). It also takes a lot longer to compost.
Hi i like the idea of the double walled drinker could you do a short video please to show how this actually works such as water flow out , Thankyou
We certainly can add that to the list. If you need it urgently, contact us through the shop and we can show you on a Zoom call
@@EnglishCountryLife Hi, ty for getting back so quick, were in no hurry and i'm sure there are others watching you're stream would love to see how the drinker actually works. Would be really nice to have some we dont have to pick up tip over fill up etc. I should add we actually use our drinkers in our aviaries for our quail, cockatiels and ringnecks.
i can confirm with the wood shavings, my chickens love it and soooo easier to scoop remove poop.
They are so easy and economical
great vid for first time keepers and good to see you back on your feet after your accident, I have a problem chicken it has started egg eating and pulling and eating feathers out of the lower pecking order chickens, can it be corrected without making it into a pie ;)
@@Andrew.Croft. Hi Andrew, occasionally there are hens that aren't redeemable. People try to correct egg eating with things like putting mustard in egg shells but we've never heard of that working very well
@@EnglishCountryLife Thanks for your reply, looks like I have a job to do :(.
Another great video hughFiona I have a question this time I have seven hensorphans that are all 14 months old they’ve been laying for a while but now I have some American chicks and some black copper chicks seven total. I wanna add to my flock they’re about 3 1/2 months old, my question is I don’t know what I’m doing to integrate these birds together.what should I do about the feed laying hens are on layer feed chicks are still on grower feed will it hurt if they get in to each others feed. thank you so much for any information. You can give me on the subject and another thing. Great to see you walking on your own🎉
Thank you for any information you could give me on the subject you have a great day
Hi! In terms of the feed, we have a video that answers that question th-cam.com/video/OqambOgoaLg/w-d-xo.html
With integration, there are two ways you can do this. One is a gradual introduction where you put in a temporary fence between them so they can see each other but can't get to each other. Continue this for a week or two, and then take the fence away.
The second way is to go all in and put the youngsters into the coop one night while the others are sleeping.
Both methods will result in an amount of pecking order squabbles, which you will need to monitor for (at least) the first day. It's important that youngsters have places that they can get out of the line of sight of the older chickens. If you don't have this, add a few large cardboard boxes weighed down so they don't blow away. You can always remove these in a few days.
If the squabbles are prolonged, or particularly nasty, you should introduce or reintroduce the fence for a bit.
I hope that helps.
Oh, and thank you about your comment on my recovery but the video is misleading as I'm standing without crutches but I need them to walk so they are off camera and Hugh had to bring them to me so I can move between filming spots. I'm doing well though
Hi, do you have any discount codes for the water drinker you speak of in this video, please? The 10% discount using the link you provided doesn't work. Thanks.
@@sarahbrooks1601 Hi Sarah, the discount code only applies to Nestera coops & walk in runs, sorry 😔
@EnglishCountryLife thanks for getting back to me.
How long on average do Buff Orpington chickens live for? Thank you
The oldest we've had was 8 years old
Green line plastic double wall chicken waterer Not available in the USA. Not cool. This would be a game changer for me and my clunky/rusty galvanized waterer.
The drinker is great. It's just so easy to fill. So sorry that you can't find one in the US.
25 year warranty is a scam.
What if the company goes bankrupt or sold to another company to void it? ;)
@@ChescoYT We've been using them for a number of years & that hasn't happened so we have no reason not to trust them.
That comment could apply to every company that offers a warranty of any length whatsoever.
