Not many people enjoy driving long distances in the rain, but look at it this way, when you are forced to make long drives back for work, you're not wasting good weather days. Cali needs the rain too so this is a good thing.

I always say I'm solar powered. When it's sunny, I'm ready to go! Grey, cold, and cloudy makes me want to hunker down and not go anywhere. I live in the wrong state for solar powered motivation (Oregon 🌲💚) but I adore the grey moody cloudy days anyway. Girl, vent away about having the itch to wander full time! The older I get the less I enjoy driving in heavy rain. I actually love camping in the rain and love the sound of it hitting the top of my van or a tent, but driving in it? I'd just as soon pull over and read a good book until the storm passes. Not always possible, but yeah.

Never fun to drive through heavy weather. It's always crazy windy on that stretch of I-5 which loves to smack vans and box trucks around. Add that kind of rain and it's a real party 😅

I'm a little confused, was it driving in the rain u didn't like bcuz if ur a van life traveler u have to drive alot. Or was it u didn't want to drive bcuz it was back to work? 🤔
Both honestly! But especially the weather- it was much more intense than I could get on film ugh.
I'm curious about the logistics with a dog ... what happens when you need to stop at Planet Fitness for a shower or need to go get groceries? We always have one of us wait in the car when we have our girl with us and we are out but you're solo!
That’s definitely I’m alwayssss thinking about actually. If it’s a quick trip into the store/gym then I’ll crack the windows and leave my fan running in the van for the pup. But it’s something I have to consider for longer stops!
@@strangedaysdiaries it's rough!! and you'd have to drop the window coverings. People will call the cops on you if they see a dog inside alone! Try to adopt from a foster based rescue if you can, altho some may not want to adopt to you but foster based means you can tell them exactly what you're looking for in a dog. It's like special ordering one.. and try to find one over the age of 3, a good traveler, low prey drive, dog friendly or tolerant, and a non-barker. A barker is gonna tip people off! Little stinkers will rat you out! Can you imagine being stealth and having a dog barking? LOL We have a big RV and even with the two of us, it means not being able to go and do things because we have our girl, who we love but it usually means we go into places individually. Darn kids!!

You should try to collab with @winterisblue .. he started out in an Astro van in California too.. and he’s got almost 100k subscribers now.
Would you recommend the Astrovan for vanlifers? I want to get there and am looking at my options.
I love the Astro because it’s so small and will get me anywhere, park anywhere, fit in and be stealthy etc buuuut it is super small and I know of a lot of vanlifers who had the Astro and NEEDED to upgrade and get something bigger because it was just too small for them. I’d say make a pros and cons list and see if the Astro fits into what you’re needing!
