A paleontology student here. Ray Gil does seem to be based on a Plesiosaurus. The reason it's tail is so long is actually partially based in some paleo history. In the middle of the bone wars in the late 19th century, plesiosaurus was discovered by Edward Drinker Cope who described the animal as having the head placed on the shorter Vertebrae end. It was later revealed and rebutted by Cope's rival Charles Marsh that the head of Plesiosaurus was actually incorrectly placed on the tail end. The head end is the side with more vertebra. The beyblade spirit's design seems to be based on the incorrect Cope version not because the designers didn't know but because they likely have a paleo geek on the designer team and wanted to reference historical events.

The main reason why I love the metal series is because most beys are named after constellations, zodiac signs and planets. Some examples: Flame Sagittario (the zodiac sign Sagittarius♐️) Earth Eagle (the constellation Aquila🦅) and Vari Ares (Mars!) I love the metaphors🤩🙌🏽

Well the three generations have some pretty cool stuff but i wonder what we'll get on the 4th gen like first gen were mostly mythical creatures mfb had constellations zodiacs and also some mythical creatures and some gods in burst is basically the same but with more gods and without the zoodiacs and constellations (except regulus that's a star from the constellation of the lion)

I love the effort they put into naming just beys and bladers. As a fellow one piece enjoyer I see why pasta likes this one.

The most fascinating part for me is the fact that they even made Argo's name connected to the lore. Pretty cool!

Being honest, its hard to tell what animal is Ray Gil. It does seems to reasemble a Plesiosaurus but its tail is too long and his head reasembles more a Mosasaurus. So I would say that its a weird mix of marine reptiles rather than a singular specie.
PD: Marine reptiles were not dinosaurs

It's mostly Plesiosaurus. The tail is long because it seems to be meant as a reference to Edward Drinker Cope's first reconstruction of it after it was discovered, where he incorrectly placed the head on the tail end of the vertebrae.

Ray Gil was my first Beyblade back in 2010 or 2011. I hated it at the time, it never won a single battle, but I was still drawn to its style despite having no clue what it could be based on. 12-13 years later your video is randomly recommend to me and I find out it’s a plesiosaurus! Thank you for the great video :)

    The Gil of a ship

I like the creative twist with giving Gil a dinosaur theme over something like a mermaid theme. Because some ship keels had a mascot sculpture on the front. Kinda like some of the ships you see Pirates of the Caribbean.

    If i recall,
Dinosaurs and dragons 🐉 were always depicted on boats in China.
So maybe other cultures like Greece have something like that.
Dragon boats are super rad in design and do look just like Lapris if painted blue.

I guess you could say that but not exactly. Beyblade metal fight is Inspired by Greek and Roman legends not American legends like the loch ness monster, even though ray gill is similar to it.

Please-e-ah-saur. And I knew it was a plesiosaur. I wonder why it's a skeleton and not an organic looking one like usual.

    • @makeiharrison6778
      @makeiharrison6778 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Twisted tempo is based on the constellation Horologium, which is a clock. If you look closely at its motif you can see the hands of a clock and Roman numerals around the clear wheel.

Some people might recognize a plesiosaurs in Super Mario like dorrie in super mario 64. And in the anime I don't get why they didn't choose a real living plesiosaur and not a skeleton version of it and why the rsf tip was always its weakness like in real like as there has to be a reason why that is
