No, he’s pronouncing it just right. The proper pronunciation in Spanish is like you say, but the town of Llano is pronounced by locals is starting with an L not a Y.
We’re thinking of the Texas Hill Country as a place to retire. Both of us are west coast people, Wa. and Cal., and love the outdoors. We have lived in very hot places, 95-105 all summer, but never dealt with humidity…How bad is it there ?
Depends on the year. Last year we didn't have very much humidity in the Hill Country but this year has been extra humid. I guess it really comes down to the amount of rain we get.
WE'RE LEARNING FROM YOU ABOUT BERNIE BEING A GERMAN HERITAGE YES THAT'S ANOTHER TOWN THAT COULD MOVE TO OUTLAWING CLOTHING TO KEEP THE PRUDISH ENGLISH AND OTHER PRUDISH PEOPLE OUT PROBABLY END UP WITH JUST GERMANS AND MAYBE SOME FRENCH AND JUST SOME PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO ARE MIXED ALL ABOUT HOT SPRINGS AND BEING NAKED DAVID ADAM GRENIS CURRENTLY IN HOUSTON TEXAS
Thanks for sharing your perspective, David! Boerne’s rich German heritage is definitely a big part of its charm, and I think that mix of history and modern life is what makes it special. The Texas Hill Country offers something for everyone, and it’s always interesting to hear different takes on what draws people here.
How about, rather than invite more people here, we tell them not to come? That is if we want to have water in 10 years. Perhaps drinking water is overrated

Any thoughts on Canyon Lakes and Spring Branch?
Both great options here in the Hill Country as well!
Do you have any similar comments about Horseshoe bay or New Braunfels.
I would take a look at my good friend Raad’s channel about NB! youtube.com/@raadalawanrealtor?si=ej5YqMGCowdTX3G9
I live outside of Waco surprised you didn’t mention enchanted rock state natural area in llano county. Lots to do here in Waco.
Great video 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed!
Hollywood Park is really nice.
Llano is the Spanish name for "plain" (as in a flat area), and it is pronounced as Jah-noh, because the double LL has a J sound in Spanish.

Also you're wrong and the double L, it makes a Y sound not J
Any thoughts about horseshoe bay?
Beautiful area but definitely higher prices than Fredericksburg, Kerrville and Boerne!

Guess I am priced out of Texas.
Yeah those prices are insane for being hours outside of a big city. Totally not worth it.
