  • We had a fun year leading guided dives at La Jolla Cove! The Cove is home to beautiful reefs, expansive seagrass meadows, and the La Jolla kelp forest.
We bring a GoPro on some of our dives. Here are a few of our favorite clips from 2021.

That’s my favorite beach in California.

Did the kelp forests in the Cove. Also did the wall an La Jolla shores. Two words for both: dry suit. Both dives put ya below the thermocline. Both are much more enjoyable in a dry suit. Tons to see in the kelp forests. Being warm lets ya take your time to enjoy it.

Is it too cold to go in a wetsuit at this time?

@@daylinhesford3116 A lot depends on you and also how deep you intend to dive. I don't know what the water temps are now (I'll leave that to you to check), but those temps they post are typically above the thermocline. If you'll dive deeper than 35 ft, which is where the good stuff is in the kelp forests, you're looking at water temps in the 50's. That's a 7mil suit, and even then it'll be shortened dives and expect it to be cold, which can be dangerous if you aren't with experienced divers to watch out for you and avoid hypothermia.
Personally, I'd rather dry suit dive those temps, but you have to be certified and I suggest well trained to dive kelp forests in a dry suit.
Always check with a certified dry shop in the area, go with divers who have experience in that area.
