I guess I didn't pay attention because I saw the video this morning and I remembered 'Oh, that's right, new power rangers today.' Went back to sleep and then read it.
It's so cool that the Green ranger v2 costume first seen in the Ryu vs Tommy live action crossover, has been adopted into the series proper by this point. It looks so good.
Is not the same one, but yeah it's a clear inspiration.
It was also in promotinal video for Power Rangers vs Street Fighter Showdown worn by JDF (Tommy Oliver) again
Im personally glad it was Matt instead of Drakkon like a lot of us thought. He wanted so bad to be helpful to his friends earlier in the series, and being rangers was the reason they stopped hanging out. Not happy about him going public with his identity though. On a side note, ever since he popped up in this suit, I've been wanting Boom to update the other 6 with this similar design too lol
He only did so to try and boost morale of the citizens that were trapped in an energy field by Lord Zedd.

Im not gonna lie...compared to Tommy's original back story...this is way better. It gives him so much depth as a character and a solid relationship to the Rangers that Tommy didnt have originally. Tommy was more developed along the way as a pose to already having the connections and being able to grow in other categories. Its also really cool how they hint to it with Mathews good nature and self sacrificing nature as well. I love it

I hope Zordon could forgive Billy for this, but it'll be nice if Matthew never joins the team and work alone for Sterling. It's just that the rangers are friends and having Matthew around in their gang, I don't think it's gonna work for them but they should occasionally team up.
Him and Drakkon could make extra rangers for the Omega Rangers.

Though i enjoy the summary of Matthew's story so far (since i haven't read all of GGPR), perhaps it would've been wise to have waited a week or 2 to post this.
Give the readers enough time to discover important plot points like this for themselves and not on the exact same day as your review for this comic issue.
Everyone reads at their own pace, so there's really no point in telling someone to wait to review the new stuff on account of others being lazy.
The comics aren't Canon anyway so I'm glad to see a new character playing the Green Ranger. And that suit that looks like the Bat in the Sun retro Green Ranger suit. Very unique☺
They are canon they are just a different universe.

Matt/Kimberly/Tommy Love Triangle ALERT!
The new Cyclops/Jean Grey/Wolverine Love Triangle Ladies and Gentlemen. (Though I find this love triangle kind of Funny. I can Imagine Zack when he eventually learns of the New Green Ranger's Identity saying: "You really know how to pick them. Don't you, Kim?".
I never thought I was going to see a seventh ranger, and actually like him, yet along having Tommy been replaced, but Boom Studios did and still do a brilliant job.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but Matt is one of my Top 5 Favourite Green Rangers.
I will say this: he is doing something several rangers post-zordon have done by either revealing themselves or just not caring who they are showing their identities to. That said, I don't like the fact that he is doing this. It isn't wise during the zordon age to do it.
I think this can bring some interesting conflict and questioning of Zordon's way. Might even explain why some newer generations didn't pay attention to the secret identity trope, which in pop culture in general is getting a little tired already. Also, given that Matt got his powers from someone who doesn't exactly like Zordon too much can be a factor
@@buzondemadera I agree and forsee much tribulation in the future. Particularly with a blatantly confirmed second Eltaran in the picture. But didn't Zordon warn of the powers betraying the rangers if they did something like this? Then again this could be exclusive to the morphers HE made himself and Tommy just rolled with it for a long while.
Lightspeed rescue one season that didn't hide their identity from people. I wonder if Bulk and Skull would have still mess with Billy if they knew he was the blue ranger
@@KentPetersonmoney agreed. Also, there was SPD and I think Wild Force. And, if you look at Forever Red, there is the instance where Bulk and Skull are very reluctant to bother Tommy. I assume it was because they either knew or figured out that he was a ranger somewhere between Lost Galaxy and Wild Force.

I pretty much say that I happy that the New Green Ranger is Matt the person who I thought it be all along but for in fact that Zordon isn't going to be happy about this not one bit cause Power Rangers Identity are supposed to be kept secret so like I don't know how is Matt going to get himself out of this one.

Which off course I hope that their memories get erased cause I don't want Matt to lose the Green Ranger Powers I've so many years to have all Seven Mighty Morphin Power Rangers together and finally fix that stupid mistake they made in the life action show by getting rid of the Green Ranger Powers instead of doing what they did here in the comics by giving the Green Ranger Powers to Matt and letting us have all Seven Mighty Morphin Power Rangers together like we do now in The Comics.
@@NoobSaibot4708 yes I know but what I'm saying is the whole reason to even have a secret identity is so villains won't know who you are ensuring they couldn't just go after your loved ones. Kinda like with spider-man whole reason for his secret identity, and why he wants to keep it a secret is so villains won't just go after his aunt or Mary Jane. It's his way to ensure they will be safer and when villains do find out his identity they usually always go for one of them. With that being said if the rangers villains already know all of the rangers identities then what's the point of having a secret identity? So the public won't know? Who cares if the public knows. the main thing should be if the villains know and they already do. So why is it such a forced rule that they keep their identities secret from the public there's literally no point.
@@Metarai well Spider-Man's identity is supposed to remain secret cause thats how it is in the comics for one thing Toby Maguire Spider-Man and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man both keeped their identities really well although I can't say the same thing about Tom Holland's Spider-Man cause he is trouble at keeping his identity secret cause he always ends up revealing his identity to every super hero he meets at the first time meeting for the one in the comics he kept his identity secret even from other heroes in the comics. And like I said all I really want is them to keep Matt around as the Green Ranger for I have been waiting years to have all Seven Mighty Morphin Power Rangers together and finally fix that stupid mistake they made in the life action show by getting rid of the Green Ranger Powers when they could have just done what they did in the Comics by turning Tommy into the White Ranger and giving the Green Ranger Powers to Matt and letting us have all Seven Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Together in the life action show just like we do now in The Comics.
If Drakkon and the Omega Rangers go back to earth and learned about this new green ranger, it'll be interesting to see their reactions as well. Imagine if Drakkon confront Matthew to steal his green ranger powers and once again cause another trouble, it would be a little tiring to watch but at least we're getting some action.
Well we do know that we're in the build-up for the big fight between the Power Rangers and the Omega Rangers with Zordon declaring the Omega Rangers to be a "high-priority enemy force" so Drakkon and the Omega Rangers returning to Earth could be the kick-off to the Power Rangers vs. Omega Rangers storyline. And when that storyline happens I would like to see Jason vs. Matthew happen with Jason calling Matthew rookie, and tell him that Zordon isn't telling him everything, and Matthew retorting with all he knows right now as that Jason and the other Omega Rangers are considered traitors by Zordon, and they need to be stopped especially since they seemingly allied with Drakkon.

@@GinoongVince Yes after Jason made the call to free Drakkon in order to utilize what he knows about the upcoming multiverse-level threat that is The Empeyreal in order to stop them Zordon declared Jason and the Omega Rangers a high-priority enemy of the Power Rangers. So yeah we're now in the build up to the fight between the Power Rangers, and the Omega Rangers + Drakkon.
These new MMPR comics really need to be made into an animated series.

As a fan that started with mmpr since 4 it is nice to always see the memory of JDF even in print means alot. Always the hero RIP

After watching this video I got to thinking how awesome it would be if tommies white tiger zord and Matt's dragon zord(if he has the dragon zord) could combine

Obvious Green Ranger identity was obvious, but you made a spoiler video before comic shops even opened in some parts of the US. Doing the issue summary video is one thing, but using artwork from the issue in your thumbnail is another. You should've waited a couple of days at the very least.

@@the6thranger I appreciate your response and understand why you made the video. Just remember that "up-to-date" isn't the same for everyone. The issue hasn't even been out for 12 hours depending on where your subscribers might live, and I personally can't get my copy until after 4pm my time.
I did see the leak, so I wasn't spoiled. But others might have been. And like I said, the summary video was well done. This one just could've waited a day or two. Hype won't die that quick.

So I don’t know if I’m the only one who has discovered this, Mathew is actually in the original 1990’s tv show. In the episode “Foul Play in the Sky”, at the very end of the episode, you see Kimberly flirting with a guy, who happens to be wearing green. Jason and Zack are mocking them, and Jason refers to him by the name Matt.
The 6th Ranger thanks for the video appreciate the content but Booo for dudes story lol. He’s seems like a Tommy clone minus the evil arc....hopefully it will become more interesting in the future. Ether way it is till good to see The Green Ranger Back To Action! Thanks again👍🏾

Was anybody who read this actually caught be surprise? The hints of Matt being the new Green Ranger where there since Mighty Morphin #1. First we have Billy and Grace discussing candidates for the Green Ranger and both agreeing that it should be someone the team already knew, was good in a fight, but was also an outsider/wild card. Rocky being friends with Matt then Tommy walking in on their conversation and there being tension between them because they've both dated Kim, but then Tommy being excited that there's a new Green Ranger. The potential drama and conflict that would come from that just wrote itself.
Not gonna lie, this sounds like poorly written fan fiction, I don't know how much the comics differentiate from show but Billy taking the Dragon Coin from the Command Center seems really out of character and completely unnecessary considering the White Ranger is suppose to be far more powerful than the Green Ranger, also how is some random woman, former ranger or not, able to repower the Dragon Coin when Zordon could not? Now I'm not against the idea of bringing back the Green Ranger, even MMPR left that door open with Tommy's ancestor, but this is not the way to go about it IMO.
I think they changed the power levels along time ago because in an episode od Dino thunder when Tommy went on a coma he fought the Green Ranger last and by their conversation it seemed like they admitted that the Green Ranger was the strongest.
Read the comics
The coin is powered by an item Grace has access to, and having an additional 7th Ranger is beneficial. Especially since its Matt who we know wants to do good.
I can see why they choose Grace to fix the coin. Having Grace fix the coin opens a new door for a new ranger. Think about it if Zordon fixed the coin there would be no new ranger and there would be no reason to have Tommy go back to Green when he's already a stronger ranger there wouldn't be a reason to fix the coin at all if Zordon repaired it. Haveing Billy sneak this around was a good choice imo his character never did anything groundbreaking in the show plus this offers more plot ideas.

what is the most powerful ranger transformation of tommy oliver as power ranger, Zeo Ranger V - Red, White Ranger, Green Ranger, Black Dino Ranger without counting the Red Turbo Ranger because he gave it to someone else his Successor ?
It's arguably Zeo Ranger V, as the lore states the Zeo powers constantly grow over time, which might also explain why Tommy used it sparsely after the events of Zeo, as it might have become TOO powerful to use as frequently as he used to, and could possibly cause him lasting harm if he continued to.
This, of course, being prior to his incorporating the powers into his Master Morpher, which might have fixed that problem.

Though after the Master Morpher was introduced they're probably all now tied.
I knew it was going to be Matt. It makes more sense than that crazy rumor that it was going to be Drakkon.
Not a rumor, BOOM made Grace mention it as an idea, and I say "BOOM made" because it doesn't feel like something she would say, she's smarter than that, it was out of character. They even tried to make us believe it by having her visit Drakkon's cell while she blinded Zordon's security mechanisms.
So why were people saying it was drakkon?
Just seemed like the obvious way to take story. Good way to bring Drakkon back
Alot of people believed it was for the longest time. So funny though that they were wrong.
Some Drakkon esq art and because it'd of been better.
Because BOOM tried to sell us that by having Grace mention the idea, they later even tried further by having Grace blind Zordon's security mechanisms. But, I knew it wouldn't be him, it would've been extremely stupid because Drakkon is vicious, tyrannical, and a sadistic sociopath with a god complex.

Yeah! I really like much this new Ranger! Matt deserves to be a ranger, I was suspecting always he was being build by the story as his character development hinting the reader with the possibility of becoming a Ranger in the future and I'm so glad that happened :) !

Have they ever given a reason for why the rangers always color coordinate their civilian clothes with that of their suits? If not, I was thinking it would be fun to do a handwave of the color syncs as being a result of thier power coins' influence over their clothes. Like every day they grab something from their closets, revealing a wide range of color schemes, they then put their clothes on and suddenly what they wear shifts in color scheme to match that of their ranger persona. It is a silly thing to think about, I know, but it always bothered me that each teenaged ranger would suddenly start wearing their personal ranger color as a nod to that persona. I mean, what if the rangers have a favorite color that they mostly can never wear again while possessing their power coins or they secretly hate the color assigned to them? Like what if Kimberly hates the color pink, but then suddenly everything she wears turns pink and she is constantly annoyed by this fact? And when they take off ther clothes, those articles of clothing change back to their original colors. I know it is small thing, but it would explaining an annoying theme and explain why Tommy wore four different color schemes during his ranger career, and when he uses his master morpher in later years, whichever coin was last activated, is the color scheme he has to wear until he chooses a different power.

I got a random question for everybody: how powerful is a white tiger Mighty Morphin Ranger gold Zeo Ranger Fusion.
I hope they do a combo with the Thunder Megazord and the Dragonzord in the comics. I think it would be cool..... OR thay could do some kind of combination with the Dragonzord and the Tigerzord. That would be epic!
Well they teases it in this issue. So let's hope they come back to it!
I like how the new Green Ranger (BatintheSun-Drakkon) looks wish they added alittle of Psycho Green. But wished on the helmet didnt have the gold fins and wished he had the mouth piece from white ranger
Since we now find out who the new green ranger is and that the dragon power coin has been repowered, I'm left with one question. What kind of effect would these new powers have on the Dragonzord? Since the Dragonzord's power is connected to the green ranger's, these new powers must have some effect on it. Maybe these new powers have upgraded the Dragonzord just like they have upgraded the green ranger's suit.
The dragonzord was actually in issue 4! Which came out today, I covered it on my channel 😊

I love Tommy as the Green ranger he will always be the original but it's to see that someone other Tommy to become the green ranger just like Adam, Rockey, and Aisha becoming the red, black, and yellow rangers.Heck just for fun i drew one of my original character I made up in the green ranger suit

I dunno this doesn’t make sense with the Season 2 team. That’s kinda what bugged with them rushing for the white ranger. Go Go was amazing how it fleshed everyone out and then the ruin it by shooting Jason, Zach and Trini off the peace conference rather that let us see them add the rogue element of Tommy.(course I also wish we got more than just mighty morphin era for comics sooo)
The comics are way more mature than the TV series, and the villains are way less stupid and childish plans, so it clearly doesn't match and this is a whole different thing.
I'm not sure how I feel about someone else taking the mantle of the Green Ranger. I do love the updated look to the suit.

I don't get this storyline. Why did they simply restart this with a new character as the green ranger with the original team? A universe without Tommy? Have I missed something here? 😳
No Tommy was green ranger but at this point he’s become the white ranger and rocky Adam and Aisha have replaced the og’s
This isn't a new storyline plus Tommy became the White ranger. This takes place after the Nessissairy Evil arc the writers split the story into 2 separate titles but its all 1 big story.

The new Green ranger helmet sucks with that additional Gold on top. I think it cheapens the look and makes it look tacky (imho)

We never had to find out which is stronger because it's been confirmed multiple times in different era's that the white ranger is stronger.
#1) The White Ranger was always officially stronger.
#2) This new Green Ranger, as his look implies, has modifications, so his current power is not valid as reference for Green Ranger Tommy's. For all we know he might be stronger than White Ranger Tommy is right now in the comics, he sure looks like it.
@@LuisHernandez-pm4yv literally nothing has been stated to change except the look, the user, and how the powers are accessed... You could actually imply he's weaker than the OG green ranger as he has a harder time fighting villains and staying morphed. So as of right now, nothing is impressive about this "New Green Ranger" but a updated look.

#1) Grace said she maid modifications on the Dragonzord (issue #4) and Billy told Matt to tell Grace to realign his energy paths (MM issue #3), implying she and Billy have been doing modifications on his powers as well.
#2) The only time Matt had a harder time was when he was facing Chaos Putty, and that was because those target his chaos energy making him, in Billy's own words, "extremely susceptible to their attacks" (MM issue #3).
#3) This new Green Ranger finished Pandamonium in 3 hits (MM issue #1), an opponent that the White Ranger only managed to hit once and didn't drop him, then got hit by him two times in which one he was sent flying and the other drop him. Said monster never landed a hit on Matt, and one of Matt's physical attacks dropped Pandamonium, the other sent him flying, and the last one, and energy attack that Tommy could never perform as the GR, destroyed the monster, GREATLY implying this new GR is above WR.
So, the fact you thought otherwise means you either are not reading the comics and obtaining your info somewhere else, or simply not paying attention while reading.
@@LuisHernandez-pm4yv well I must've "missed" something, because nothing in the chapter said that these modifications just made dragonzord way stronger, and as far as your "damage taken" analysis, I could've sworn it was a serious draw back to his temporarily surged power in that fight.. The rest of your comment Literally doesn't disprove anything.
These comics if I'm not mistaken aren't even canon anyways, and Jason David Frank said himself personally that the White Ranger is the strongest ranger of all time ( forget exactly why he said this, but if you saw the super power beat down against scorpion, you probably remember better than me exactly why he said this).
So until then I can't say Green ranger is stronger, and I like the Green ranger better.

I find the reveal really stale. Another high schooler who is a team player. So he's Kimberly's Ex.
It'd have been far better if this new Green Ranger was out of this High School Circle. Coinless Billy, Drakkon, Scorpina, even Zordon would have made for far better and unpredictable stories.
Matt was never really around they brought his character in and did nothing with him till now. We dont really know much about him he could even be a better green ranger than tommy. Having the ranger be an adult wouldnt make any sence to have Tommy be the leader since Tommy is a Teen. Matt could even be a solo ranger that teams up with the other rangers once in a while which i think it would be badass. Having the new ranger be Drakkon would just be green with evil all over again but this time with the white ranger and Coinless billy is dead they shouldnt do a revival because his death would be meaningless and why should Zordon be a ranger its like having Splinter become the 5th ninja turtle it doesnt need to happen. But i have to agree to having Scorpina become the new green ranger would be interesting but they should choose a character that wasnt really established. Matthew is basically a new Charicter
@@jiraiya_6085 Agree to disagree. Its comics and we thought coinless Jason was gone but he came back. Coinless Billy would be amazing. Intelligence, experience and fighting skills of an older Billy. Coming face to face with Drakkon. The one who killed him. I loved Dekamaster/Shadow Ranger. This Green doesn't have to be in every fight. Powers could be limited
Drakkon. Green Ranger as a bad guy was my favorite arc. I'd welcome a total wildcard attacking both hero and villain alike.
Scorpina would be interesting. Previous villain, connection with Goldar, possible conflict with others.
As for Matt. I watched the video providing his backstory. I just don't find this guy interesting at all. Yes, he's new, but come on. Beating Zed out of nowhere? At least with the candidates I nominated, that part would have made sense.
