- After parking at The Buck Inn in the village of Chop Gate, I headed along the Cleveland Way to Cringle Moor overlooking Kirby Bank.
Once there, I pitched my new Durston X-Mid 2p and enjoyed a relaxed summer wild camp.
I hope you enjoy.
Really enjoyed this, what a beautiful camping spot 🙌🏻
Thanks for watching Carrie , yes it’s a great spot to camp a relatively short walk.
Love your vids, a stunning spot that, I really need to have a gander of the Cleveland Way as it looks stunning. Dead right , nowt as queer as folk, like you say, their loss. Tent looks fantastic, I’ve got the Xmid 1 and it’s superb. Keep the vids coming, Atb, Dave 👍
Thanks Dave , that was a really good location with stunning views, mountains behind and flat countryside in front all the way up to Teeside. First time out for the Xmid 2 very impressed, atb Dave 😄😄😄
Great video, I love up there, never camped it but will have to give it a go now, stay safe, Stu.
Thanks for watching Stu, that was last year and I really enjoyed that camp. Hopefully I’ll be out again soon.
Another cracking video, there a bloody nuisance those midges 👍
Thanks for watching Carol. I didn’t get bothered by midges but did get bothered by larger flies.and ended up with bites on my legs. It wasn’t a net I needed but long trousers.
Just back from family holiday and a cheeky 3 day hike so catching up on videos. Really enjoyed this one and looking a bit green eyed at your new tent. Hope you are getting on well with the new backpack, mine slips a bit on the shoulder straps but of little hassle.
Thanks for watching John, really happy with the tent, only used it twice and hasn’t been out in strong winds yet. I haven’t got the bag correct yet. I would prefer if it was higher on my back. I’m sure I’ll get it right soon. ATB Dave.
New subscriber here😊. Great knowledge and insights mate. Thank you👍🏼. Just realised (bit slow me) you're the legend who's novice wild campers dad😊. His N.V.Q in chef ing is a p.h.d. in tasty 😋..😊😊😊
Thanks for watching and subscribing Fraser. It’s good to have an NVQ chef alongside you. When I’m on my own standards tend to drop.
Supplementing my X-Mid 2 solid with an X-Mid 1 solid for this reason - NYM is my local area (I live near Boro) and I find the North York moors is difficult to find a decent wild flat short grass pitch so far.
I used the X-Mid 2 solid on my Coast to Coast this year and when I got to the NYM I camped on the top of the Wainstones on the right hand side and just managed to fit my tent in.
Thanks for watching Matt, when I’ve camped at the Wainstones I’ve pitched below the stones.
Tremendous Dave. Now’t as queer as folks indeed!
Double IPA.
Thanks for sharing your camp, Im quite enjoying your videos, keep them coming.
As a Yorkshireman, I say hello to everyone that I meet and I also find it very strange when they dont even acknowledge you - theyre not even pretending to ignore you, they just blank you!
Also, you must be the tenth person Ive seen on video this week complaining about camping meals! Ive never tried them, but Im not about to start!
Thanks for watching Phil I’m pleased you enjoy them, I think I will be abandoning the dehydrated meals going forward,
Glad you made it there at last Dave. I’ve had a nice night up there looking at the lights right out to sea. Hope it doesn’t get too popular though. Wainstones last time was surrounded by cows so gave it a miss! 😂 XMid looks very nice.Your packs getting a lot lighter. How do you rate that Quidian pack? Atb Sean.
Thanks for watching Sean, yes I encountered cows the first time I camped at the Wainstones. I’m impressed with the Quidian and it’s certainly good value.
Do you prefer a more remote area with less people coming and going?
Thanks for watching Rebecca, remote is good and probably the whole point, however even near a popular walking route you don’t get much coming and going after 8-00pm
Planning a solo camp to the Wainstones, which would you advise the pub car park or Clay Bank?
Thanks for watching, where you park very much depends on how far you want to walk. From Clay Bank it’s a relatively short walk, from the pub car park there are more options of walking routes.
Brilliant, cheers for that 👍🏼
