I was expecting just a history of the M8 but this is an unwavering defence of it. No mention of induced traffic and no mention of trams at all. The guy is deep in denial and emotionally invested in the M8 being great and necessary, he can't seem to imagine life without it. It's obvious he admires the men who designed it and the American car centric development model of which the M8 is an example. When asked about the obesity impact he throws his arms in the air. He doesn't want to know. Don't let this guy fool you into thinking his is the only opinion you can rationally have.
He is giving a history of it - this was the thinking at that time. He doesn't pass comment on comprehensive redevelopment which wasn't popular at that time. Its a history of the motorway, not broader public transport.
