One of the craziest but really enjoyable songs ever.

I really enjoy a video when a band is actually performing instead of using backing tracks. This was an awesome one. Thank you for the video.👍

Love it when he hits those high notes on the SCREAMS!!! Hahahahahaha Top notch...His face is part of the performance too. As the camera man zooms in on him, he's -vocalist- starting in the low register (serious yet insecure facial gesticulations as if he's unsure about his ability to pull it off) and gradually...as this glissando vocal part goes along apparently well, he carries on with the ticks and strange expressions until he reaches the apex of his crescendo with full facial/bodily excitement in the realization that he in fact pulled it off! And it's a celebration of sorts for the whole process continues with the phenomonal jam section. Then they try it again. Great song/vid pick. Thanks Glen and Adrian!

"In 1973 Akkerman was voted Best Guitarist in the World by readers of the UK magazine Melody Maker".

If you encourage them, the band can continue in the children. This was how we got them back at the Aarschotse Feesten 20 years ago.

Glenn. You surprise me. No words for one of the most fantastic rock guitar players in the world: Jon Akerman .
    So . . .

Such a great performance. I have seen it on a number of midnight special top 10 performances lists. I mean where else do you get yodeling, whistling , and a flute.

This version is barely over 6 minutes long. Midnight Special did edited out some of the performance for time. Since their live versions are around 7 to 8 minutes in length.

This may be the longest clip I've seen on Midnight Special, come to think of it

Great Dutch progressive rock band. Their 1971 album Moving Waves was really good.
By the way, there is a video where Rachel Flowers plays the flute with the band's leader Thijs van Leer during an informal meeting (it was not a presentation with an audience) that, I seem to remember, (maybe I'm wrong) occurred on a cruise ship where they both played separately.

Love this, in a similar vein is the live Edgar Winter Group Frankenstein also from the same era, I prefer the OGWT version. Montrose live doing Space Station #5 from 1973 is incredible as well featuring of course, Sammy Hagar. So many more.

The version you saw was probably the one that has the intro by Gladys Knight but leaves out the bit where you said he was skipping and needed a whack...best part imo so not sure why they leave that out in the other version...it's def the same performance.

I hate this speeded up version, done to fit the time slot! Went to see the band a couple of weeks ago, and even without Jan Akerman, done a fantastic gig, with some great yodeling! 👌👍
