    I would have to say I really impressed. I got a mountain star 2p when they first came out. It was pretty good,had a few issues(few things failed me in the end) and a few things I did not like(the color,carbon tent pegs,grey guy wires) and I sent it back and now have one of these brand new tents in the mail. It is great to see a company actually take what in what their customers say and make the changes. cant wait to test it out.

      @Peter Varrie check out the Summit Refuge 3P, it's a similar pole-pitch design to our 1P tent, but fits up to three people: www.kuiu.com/summit-refuge-3-person-tent-set/SummitRefuge-3PersonTent-Set.html

    Could you guys do an in depth review on the refuge shelter? I see the guru videos on it but they are brief and not in depth. This would help people get a better idea of all the different functions the tent has. Thanks , love what you guys are doing for the hunting industry!

    Good info all around. One question concerning the Mountain Star 2P. Can the outer fly edges be tightened down to the ground or will there always be a gap between the fly and the ground? Thanks Nate

    Would the mountain star 2p tent be a good choice for back pack hunting

    • @kuiuultralight
      @kuiuultralight  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes--it's designed for exactly that purpose.

      In its packed state, the tent is 18.5" x 5".

    Are these Kuiu tents a copy of bigskyproducts.com tents or are they made by the same manufacturer? They look pretty much identical.

    how cold can it withstand how warm would you be

    • @kuiuultralight
      @kuiuultralight  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tent isn't what keeps you warm--it keeps the wind and weather out so you stay dry and sheltered. Beyond that, you need a good sleeping bag: th-cam.com/video/Rnq6CaSV28g/w-d-xo.html

    How would you guys rate these in comparison to Hilleberg's line.....?

    • @kuiuultralight
      @kuiuultralight  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rick Payne Our tents are designed with a different philosophy. Both of our tents are considerably lighter weight than anything Hilleberg has in a comparable size. In addition, we aren't constrained by a retail model, so our tents are priced nearly 40% less than they would be if they were sold in stores. Basically: our tents are lighter, less expensive, and are made with equal quality.

      Rick Payne You cannot even compare these to a Hilly. Love my KUIU clothing, but these tents are not in Hillebergs league.

    • @pvkjhilk8323
      @pvkjhilk8323 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chris Sharpe and to be fair hillesberg is mostly in a league of its own . i "think" nemo and north face is more comparable to kuiu.

    • @mikevrabel5349
      @mikevrabel5349 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pvk Jhilk They're the one that said are lighter, less expensive, and are of equal quality. Buddy had a 1st gen Kuiu tent and it leaked like a sieve, hopefully they fixed that with these new ones.

    Price for single person tent?

    • @kuiuultralight
      @kuiuultralight  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 1P Tent is $259. Bear in mind that it does require a trekking pole to pitch, or we also have a small aluminum tent pole that can be purchased separately for $19.

    if you make that one man in cuben fiber id buy it..big sky international makes a 1p wisp tent with optional cuben fiber .51 ounce per sq yd that weighs about 11 ounces.... looks identical in design as your tent.

    • @MatanuskaHIGH
      @MatanuskaHIGH 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      after checking out the specs on your web page its states the 18.9 ounces is tent and pole...what is the weight of just the tent without a pole? and is that weight with guy lines and tent stakes?

    • @MatanuskaHIGH
      @MatanuskaHIGH 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +matanuska high also a size specs for the dimensions of the sleeping area etc.

    • @kuiuultralight
      @kuiuultralight  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +matanuska high The pole it's referring to is the small support pole at the foot of the tent. The trekking pole weight is not included.

    • @MatanuskaHIGH
      @MatanuskaHIGH 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol yeah after posting this i realized.. how is the condensation in this tent? it looks likeyour feet would be touching the ends and sides..and on a single wall tent that can mean lots of condensation.

  • @91F2Z
    @91F2Z 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually 24 oz with stakes, not including pole. The body alone weighs more than 18 oz.

    • @kuiuultralight
      @kuiuultralight  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the body is 18.9 ounces; most manufacturers quote two weights for tents--weight of the body, and the "trail weight," which includes stakes. We don't count the trekking poles because, well, they're trekking poles, and are used for more than just the tent!
