  • "Saving Ferris" is a documentary about the Chicago experience of the classic film, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." For the documentary, Noah Graff visited almost every Chicagoland location in the film to find out where and what the places actually are and how they have changed in 30 years since the film was shot. Some of the scenes in the documentary include going to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, driving a Ferrari out of Cameron Frye's garage, and singing "Twist and Shout" on a float in the Von Steuben Day Parade.
In Part 5, the documentary discusses how the modern day parking garage in the same location of the one in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" does not have a shady parking attendant like in the movie. Instead it is a self-park automated garage, like most modern public parking garages. The video also shows the rout under the L tracks where the parking attendants take the car on their joy ride.

Not to be the guy that comes in 6 years later and corrects you, but they are heading west when they turn out of the garage. The road starts to elevate as you head west, to go over the river. I’m actually sitting here in front of the garage typing this, because I live right here on Madison and was curious if this was the location. To take that one step further, the garage you went to is actually across the street and diagonal from the garage they actually pull out of. The address for the garage they pull out of is 172 W Madison. A right turn out of that garage has you heading west, and then a quick skidding left turn has you on wells under the tracks. This leads me to believe that the garage in this video is not actually the garage from the film, and the actual garage is 172 W Madison. I’ve walked around both tonight to confirm, and I’m pretty positive that’s the correct answer.

Hi Tyler. That's interesting. I put the pieces together myself. I will have to take a look myself. Thanks for the feedback.

Spot on. Madison is one way westbound... which is how they turned when they came out of the garage... before making that immediate left under the EL.

Considering the fact that your "Ferrari" is actually a NA Miata in disguise... (the door handles give it away. I own a 96 myself and LOVE it!)

Hey! Thanks for commenting. Truth is that in the movie they used ford mustangs. The Ferrari replica I used the owner told me was put on the body of a corvette. Who knows!

Hi. In the most friendly tone. You seem like you put alot of effort into making this. And in my opinion you miss it. You had the car. It is a life style thats a dream. Its an Advert buy this car. And have the best life ever. Its fake. Its not real. Thats why the pretend too smash it in the end. Calm kicking the crome bumper. Thats how i remember it. I could be wrong. I really didnt want him too kill the dream of that car. Hollywood use red in this way. If youre a real film maker you will thank me for opening you up too this. Or you can say. Opinions are like assholes everyone had one.
