The question about Dolby enabled speakers. We have an option in the speaker declaration page specifically for up-firing speakers. This changes the characteristic of the detection to ignore a portion of the direct sound and concentrate on the strong first reflection from the ceiling to determine the delay and level compensation. So to set a left front up-firing speaker you actually declare it as Le - Left Elevation. Then for a middle up-firing speaker you would decalre it as Lse - Left Surround Elevation. Then for a rear up-fring speaker you would set it s Lrse = Left Rear Surround Elevation. Then this will add the corresponding Right Speaker automatically. So you can have a maximum of 6 elevation or up-firing speakers declared.
The missing tutorial for WF. Even with the upcoming documentation and tutorials that Trinnov will release, you asked a lot of questions that I had that to some forget are only common knowledge to them because they work or have lived in beta versions for so long. I walked through setting up WF as I watched this video, and got some OK results (to be honest). I have a lot of re-working to do, and may start a new calibration from scratch, vs adding WF on top of my existing one.
Thanks for always having a great person at Trinnov give incredible guidance! One thing I noticed when using the default Waveforming settings is the absolute loss of the infrasonics/bass shake. I increased the pressurization frequency to 19 Hz and the shake came back. Above that frequency (usually audible) the bass is magically clearer... using 4X Pb-16 Ultra subs in extension mode.
@@therealshanelee Absolutely, just wanted that infrasonic shake back as it was dearly missed! An incredible feature, especially since it's a free upgrade to existing owners. Got to meet Jon at Audio Advice Live a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe almost nobody knew who he was and what he brought to the show. He was right next to the JVC/Focal room, an absolute legend! Was thinking to add two more Pb-16 Ultras and stack above my existing units at the front, but I know SVS is announcing a new flagship subwoofer at CEDIA, so let's see what they bring.
Great video! I personally have a very unconventional setup that I built myself in a spare bedroom in my home. My question from the beginning was, is this tech applicable to my setup too?? I was very happy to see the 2 seat room that spoke directly to me. Im using 3 subs with the mightiest one up front and 2 lessor subs at each rear corner. Though I'm very happy with the performance now, I'm very curious about Waveforming for my system
Hey Shane, you comment about "crest factor too low" when you are doing the manual calibration process might be related to the input that you are using. When doing to manual calibration, you will need to change the input on the Trinnov to "MIC IN". When you are using the wizard, this happens automatically for you. And as always, awesome video with Jon. He is amazing! So thanks for arranging.
I always facing this issue when doing cal, it seems not the matters how you set the cal, I am sure doing correctly. But this issue still happen. Even the speakers just next to the mic only few feets distance without any blocking it still show this words, it make me very fear to make a cal.
Just the Top-Middles playing in a 7.1.6/9.1.6 setup is fine because thats how it works in the commercial cinema. LOL wut? Allow me to mansplain: The commercial cinema is actually just 7.1.2 or 9.1.2 in presentation (or 11.1.2 if there are extra speakers behind the screen) The ceiling channels in an Atmos theater are actually only 2 channels....Left Top and Right Top. There is an ARRAY of those speakers and of course Atmos can address each speaker in said array individually, just as it can address individual speakers in the wide channel array, the side surround arrays and rear surround arrays, indiviually as well. In a big Atmos theater, there are about 8 (or more) speakers in the Side Surround array. The Top channel arrays work the same way. When you scale Atmos down to the home, just the two Top-Middle speakers can put that information above the audience without need for an array. Without the Top-Middle present, the Top/Height Front and Top/Height Rear need to be used to render that channel. But with Top-Middle the effect is correctly rendered. This is one of the (many) reasons I set up my system as 7.1.6 with Top-Middle (and front/rear heights) because that is quite litterally how Atmos is designed.
Very few people will ever get to experience this, but it's still a good video to get info on. You never know...I have a feeling Trinnov will come out with more budget friendly processors like MadVR and Kaleidescape just did with their products
@@Linkone7 I heard one at audio advise live. Was a long lag before audio synced. Worse than an anthem. Sound was cool but he keep reviewing things that people don’t want. His views is suffering and he doesn’t care
I too was a huge skeptic of both Trinnov and K-scape, far too expensive/etc... what turned the tide for me was the upgradability of a Trinnov (especially the Altitude 32) and the new model of movies being released on streaming months before their physical release. His Trinnov videos helped me understand why these units are so expensive... it's because of their feature sets and capabilities (3D remapping is a gem, especially for those of us with a center channel below the screen/TV), 16-32 channel counts (Atmos with multiple rows of seating), etc. On the K-scape side, it was their Strato V price drop and Dolby Vision support. If you want the best version of a movie on the day of its digital release, there is no other alternative (yet).
This is great for Trinnov owners Shane! Really appreciate you setting this up

Thank you Shane and Jon for another informative training. I am looking forward to hearing the results in my room.

Take measurements with REW to check all the different combinations and make any tweaks. My room sounds amazing after a few little adjustments.

I’ve been running 4.4.0 with WF on about a week and love it.

You need at least two on the front and rear wall.

@@dragonball911Ben you can try changing the battery.
End don't forget to mute system too before turning mic on in manual calibration👍
100%. Took me forever to figure this out as well,, and was very annoying until I realized I had to change the input to 'mic'.
i cheched trinnov's homepage and realise my room witdth is less than 3m,does it means i cant do waveforming,i cant scroll down less than 3m

Why are you making videos no one watches with a big channel ? No one has a Trinov but you
