    really is amazing how realistic it is, though i feel like this sort of tech needs procedural animation to really make it practical. like being able to control an emotional state, with lots of emotion variable, breathing, pulse, etc on sliders and have seem-less loops between each state with endless animation and then being able to add dialogue animation over that. animating all these features seems like it would take so much time.
    aybe before long someone will come up with a machine learning method that looks at videos of faces and figures it all out :P

      @aknittel1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FeedingWolves HA! SO just so its clear to everyone here. CTRL SHIFT G resets the entire character.. A typical hand-animated scenario can be move a bone, move another bone. You may want to reset the FIRST bone without affecting the second one, so CRTL-Z isnt optimal. SO animators want a quick way to reset a single bone to its default position without going to the sequencer and resetting each axis to zero for that bone.

I would like to learn how to properly animate with the same visual settings as yours - face on left - rig on right. how do I set that up?

    • @FeedingWolves
      @FeedingWolves  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! And yes, so if you go to the drop down arrow on the left in your UE viewport, select Layout, and choose the one that has two. Then create two cameras, one facing the Metahuman face, and the other facing the control rig. Play with the camera settings as its different for everyone. Then just select the camera for each viewport. In sequencer, the moment you select the actual control rig, it will show up.

    This looks great, but how did you set up the viewports? It took me about 30 min to figure out how you made the "Pilot active" part and still it seem like i can not hide the lights etc. is there ways to exclude the other scene actors so you only work with the CtrlRig?
    [Sorry: this part was a problem with the computer, works after a restart: and for some reason I can not properly select the control-rig controls... ]

    • @FeedingWolves
      @FeedingWolves  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Per Olsen! To set up multiple viewports, go to the arrow on the top left of the UI, and locate the option for multiple viewports. For two viewports, I created two cameras and assigned each camera to each viewport. One for the Face and one for the control rig......now, something I noticed with the .5 metahumans, there might be a bug when using two viewports. I just discovered this. However, to hide other things in the scene, just click in each viewport and hit G. Also, if you have a hard time selecting a control, just select the face of the meta by clicking on it in the viewport, and then go to the control rig and select the controls. You can also check on "Only Select Rig controls" in the Animation tab on the top left. Let me know if this helps.

      I want to setup a emotion system, where the characters mood shows (picked up "Emotional Behavior System" at some point) - and I guess the way to go could be to make a library of poses ('bake pose asset') and then blend between them.. on top of the other face animations.

      Thank you... the main problem (and maybe a good idea for a tutorial/guide) is that keying frame by frame usually doesn't create a realistic motion/transition. It might be a matter of experience. I don't know if there is a pattern, for example normal physical movements are between 15 to 30 frames distance, or eyes blinking are 1 to 3 frames distance, etc.. Whatever I tried I didn't like it... Spent 2 hours trying to frame by frame and I finally return back to faceware studio :D

I hope will upload an example real soon.

And when I lock the camera, I can't select a damn thing? I even checked "Only Select Rig Controls" and it still moves the camera. Try using only one camera instead of two. Not sure which version of UE you are on, but I find its better to just use one camera where you can see the face and control rig. As far as locking the camera, you can right click on the camera in the Outliner, and under transform, you can select lock transform, so the camera won't move.

      @@its4riel710 What you can do is in sequencer, where you have the face control rig, add the camera in there as well and keyframe its position that way if you move it by accident, you can just move one frame in sequencer, and it resets. As far as "only rig controls" I never use that hehe. I prefer to use the face control rig in an empty level.
      When you say 2 panels, what do you mean? 2 viewports? Just use one viewport, one camera. You should be able to lock the camera and still select the controls. Sometimes, you need to select the metahuman first in the viewport and then select the controls.
