  • This walk behind upright string trimmer is a perfect tool to handle our topical bush. In Part 1 I set up the basic machine and show the type of growth it can handle. In Parts 2 and 3 I'll look at the Durablade and Beaver Blade attachments.

Couple of things to make your life easier. The way you lock in the line is to secure it in the slot above the string holes you used. Secondly, trim with the weed line on the left. The DR is designed to discharged the right.

I got mine second hand with no instructions, you have just taught me how to put the line in properly. Many thanks.

I have had my DR trimmer mower 6.75 for 4-5 years now.. Great investment! As a landscaper and small farmer this machine has maintained literally acres of land over the years and I have only replaced bearings once and belt twice.

Instructions say put the loop in a higher slot but the string is not pliable enough to make sense. I installed string like you did. 3:55

I bought a 6.50 PRO in 2008...been working fine.....do a lot of trimming and replaced the belt twice. The first time, the mice made a nest inside the machine in the winter months and chewed into the belt...replacing the 2nd one this week as it is slipping after two years of hard service....love this machine...plus made in the good ole U. S. of A. (except for maybe the B&S motor).

Geoff, how is the DR Trimmer Mower holding up as of this comment?

Just a couple of scratches to the paint but otherwise it keeps on working.

How have the DuraBlade and Beaver blade worked out? Did you ever record the Part 2 and 3?

      Hi Raymo853,
      Thanks for your comment.
As I said in the video I was not impressed by the DuraBlade. It would probably be much better under different conditions. DR customer service was great and gave me full credit on a Beaver blade.
I have still not fitted the Beaver blade but I have used the trimmer for several more seasons. If you are not mowing golf course grass I still think this is your best investment. It really gets the job done.
I really should get another post done but the house is just a five-minute walk from a private pink sand beach. :-)

      It doesn’t require it.
      They just recommend it.

The plastic bottom on the trimmer head breaks off all to easily - just shatters.
We have lost two and would like someone to 3D print an all metal replacement.
This design really sucks. A flimsy plastic parts on an expensive machine?
