I wonder one of the factors on the higher artillery losses is because they are using older models, thus shorter range, thus closer to the front lines, and thus much more in range of Ukrainian drones.

Good morning JP. I live in a forest in the western US during the summer. In my youth I fought fires and I can attest that it's the most exciting job outside of actual combat I have ever experienced. The devastation is worse than the combat zones I've been to. Toodle pips.

And yet i have the polar opposite to emotions to russians, after all that has been done, all the leaks we have seen that will have got place in russia, the torture they give there troops to force them to fight, at what point will they say "no more" i know that a few people have said "russian super power, to take immense suffering from there governing body" but i put myself in there situation and think "my life is forfeit, that has been stolen by the state, if i am to die do i choose the front or the chance my fellow russian slaves can have freedom" even the confirmed russian deaths, the photos from grave yards, everything points to so many die, and with everything the russian state has said, we should have taken most of Europe by now, yet the front is still measured in KM from russian territory. The empathetic feelings i had for russians has gone, even when thinking about the heat wave, not the fires but the russian supply lines and there questionable effectiveness, how long till groups suffer from dehydration? i only have callous and spiteful feelings, any of the russions who do die from thirst are not a threat to Ukranians. All russia has done is made me and others hate them, even at the start of the war when i lost a close and dear person to me in Kharkiv in 2022, i still empathised with russions being forced to fight, looking at the grey areas. russia has to be stopped for Ukraine, for the disinformation destabalizing the democratic world, for the 1000's of good and kind souls who have died defending there brutal and toxic ideology. I am done with seeing them as humans, they are just pawns enabling the selfish and self enriching kremlin/ruling class.
The German Foreign Minister, Ms. Baerbock, was planning to confront Hungary on the trip to Moscow during a meeting in Budapest only to have the meeting cancelled at short notice by her Hungarian counterpart.
As russias artillery gets worse (less modern) the range of them is reduced. D-10/20/30s all in fpv drone range. FPV drones only increase in range and russias artillery only decreases in range.
Russia is using more D20 &D30 howitzers maximum range 17km less than 10 miles. In order to be effective they need to be quite close to the front line. Being that close it puts them in range of even the shorter range Ukrainian drones both spotting and attacking. Obviously the Ukrainians will use drones . One they are cheaper than precision artillery rounds and the operator is hard to spot. Plus the less they use their own artillery the harder it is for the Russians to spot. If you noticed D20 & D30s are being hit very hard recently.
I think counterbattery is a question of range - the further away the enemy gun, the more it makes sense to use Artillery to suppress Artillery. Of course that means you don't see the direct results of your fire, you just notice that the enemy stops shooting from there, which can mean anything from 'they are hiding' to 'they have been wiped out'. Especially with highly precise systems like PzH 2000 or Archer, they are perfect for long-range counterbattery as they hit even with their first shots without having to range in much. In general it is useful to suppress the enemy artillery even when you don't destroy them. When they don't shot, no one of your guys gets hurt.
Most off the artillery being hit is old D20 & D30 howitzers max range less than tem miles. Which means they must be very close to the front line to hit Ukrainian positions. They become easy targets for Ukrainian spotting and attack drones. The Ukrainian are playing it clever why expose your own artillery when a drone will do the same job,
@@allanchapman7986 Those are the ones we see and have documented. The more modern ones - I do not know how many they have if any at all - cannot be documented and usually are removed after being destroyed for spare parts or metal. So there is no documentation of the destruction of those far away destroyed by long-range counter battery fire.
Possibly the Russian that ran off the stretcher is a Senior officer. That’s a way to disguise his movements along the front line. Too bad they missed, oh well, there’s always tomorrrow.😊
Quality of personnel is the first phase of unstainabilty. I think Russia is struggling to have battlefield ready armor crews. Dessert cross dirt bikes don't require lots of training.

Covert Cabal and High_Marsed did a fuller satellite tank count. The encouraging part was that only 20% of the tanks left in storage are in decent condition. 50% are in poor condition and the rest are worse than poor. They have figured that only a little over 700 decent tanks left. If they even keep losing 4 a day, they will be in trouble this year.
Jonathan with reference to your mentioning Russian misinformation videos, Meduza’s Russia Today had an interesting report of how Russian state-owned network Rossiya-24 aired a video showing a ‘Ukrainian’ soldier mercy-killing a fellow serviceman while fleeing drones. Meduza’s newsroom was unable to verify whether the soldiers in the video were Russian or Ukrainian, given the lack of identifying marks visible in the footage. The geolocated setting for the video also can’t explain whether the men were Russian or Ukrainian, though their blurred camouflage more closely resembled the uniforms of Russian soldiers. The Russians certainly can put out a lot of misinformation content but like their weapons it is often of dodgy quality.
il faut savoir une chose la durée de vie d'un tube de canon ne dépasse pas 3500 coups donc vu la quantité énorme de coup tirer par la russie leur stock d'artillerie doit être au plus bas !
Hi Jonathan...would you be so kind as to explain the "Artillery" category of battlefield losses and the specifics therein? Looking at Andrew P's accounting, the actual artillery pieces listed don't equal the total reported by Ukrainian Command. I maybe recall "mortar" systems being included but, if so, there never seems to be any commentary surrounding mortar stockpiles, if mortar systems are easy to mass produce, the likelihood of Russia ever "exhausting" their mortar inventories/reserves, etc. Thanks for any light you may shed on this topic and how it might fit into the prosecution of the war against the evil empire.
5:10 It is also quite possible that the Counter-battery folks are using their radar and then telling the drone operators where the artillery is/was. Since the drones can go look around for the artillery piece--even if it is on the move--the drones would be much more likely to eliminate the artillery (provided, of course that they are in range).
Hi Jonathan. Zelenskyy is a genius. He procured himself a ‘captive emissary’ in Victor Orban. This move puts Ukraine in a far better negotiating position as would a ‘neutral mediator’, at the start of negotiations. Further down the line, however, Orban is going to have to pass the baton, but it’s a great move. Like in chess: instead of opening with an advancing pawn, you take one of your two donkeys, and have them jump over your line of pawns (the other donkey being Erdogan …. but he’ll have to wait for now) Orban is held captive by the consequences of having stubbornly followed his own interests, against pressure by just about everybody around him (all of the EU member states leaders, the Biden Administration, and of course Putin) trying to get him to choose sides. The main consequence being: nobody likes Toady McToadface. I mean, like “What!? Mr. President … Volodimir … with all due respect… , but of all people prepared to fulfil this role on your behalf: why did you pick the one who has pissed off every single party, around and outside of the negotiating table?” Yes. Why? So that the Western EU member states put their money where there outrage is at the moment, and start coughing up tout-de-suite all of the lethal aid they have been mumbling about, and send it sofort to Ukraine. We will need it there, by way of putting the old Colt 45 on the poker table.

That is simply because they will almost certainly be using the equipment that is NOT stored under cover or in buildings first because this will deteriate the fastest and can most easily be targeted and monitored etc.
I keep hearing that Russia is replenishing loses from stock and that they will run out of tanks/artillery/etc in a year or two. Is this all their equipment, or do they keep reserves to defend Russia? Put another way, if/when they run out, is Russia then totally undefended?
My guess is that they are meaningfully running out now which is why they're using all sorts of sub optimal equipment. But they are still producing some new tanks and refurbishing other tanks as well just not at the required rate. I wonder whether they will be approaching India to see if they can get some stocks from there.
