Supposed to promote the game to a regional or non footy area. But in the case of AFL, they were terrified it would backfire if it was held in NSW or Qld. So they took the easy option of Adelaide and now the govt has pumped in so much cash, that the AFL are reliant on the money.

Its a joke that Eagles and Dockers have another away trip and more kilometres travelled. I'm not supporting it. If its to be fair then it needs to be in developing area/s like Darwin N Qld Canberra and Wagga... Give each 2 matches each. Have Eagles play Dockers in Perth.
