The Italdesign Columbus could be one of those vehicles that the "Low Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act of 2015" allows 325 cars a year or less to be made by small manufacturers. The Columbus would make an awesome camper. The Biga is a really innovative, practical idea. My niece just began working for a company that started out as a Kickstarter campaign. They make electric bikes for much the same use as the Biga. This car should be introduced in cities like Seattle that have a younger, more progressive population, and then rolled out to other locations. I think in today’s conservation climate it would be a success.
I had once a orange plastic miniature of that BMW Columbus bought in Southern India.... didn’t knew what it was supposed to be... till now! Thank you 🙏
Number 13 (Optica): This was definitely NOT quieter than normal airplanes its size. A sample was at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in ~1980 for evaluation. The airplane made the loudest, most annoying whining noise I've ever heard. Visibility may have been great, but you could hear it 10 miles.
#4 could be brought back as electric,. Families would love it. Much room, comfy, nice interior, kids and families would love it. Famly weekend van or for camping. 🤗
Okay, I understand that that Columbus car looks weird from the outside, but it looks as spacious and comfortable on the inside as the starship Enterprise. I want it! I want it now! 😭
As much as I've seen this vehicle get positive comments by far the most of all 300 videos on this channel, I cant believe it never made it to production. Such a shame.
The AOC Jetaway was a common site around metro Detroit in its day. It was a successful airport limousine and the only viable creation out of this lineup. Can you imagine propeller - driven vehicles around pedestrians in an urban setting?
#4, #3 and #1 are my favorite...the no1 "Bubble car" is an absolute work of art ! I could spend hours looking at it. And the BMW Columbus, wow, i would love to turn one of those into a Camper, at 20 feet long it's certainly has enough room for it ! The Sea Ranger looks straight of of 70's tv serie Space 1999 ! 5:47 had that toy car from kinder surprise when I was a kid, maybe I still have it somewhere in boxes with old toys finally seeing it somewhere in video/picture and knowing its real...took me almost 20 years to find out that car is real
One thing I learned from the old "T" tops of the 70's was that they will bake your brain right out of your ears. I credit those "T" tops for my baldness. I wonder if I can sue?
as a parent with 5 children i would definitely have that unusual looking BMW with the turning seats. and that stretch limo, looks arent everything (fortunately) but take out a few seats and you have THE most practical vehicle ever, though i doubt it would be a daily runner unless you own an oil company.........
Columbus is nice and so is that last Cadillac looking futuristic car but that Toronado I'm in love with it 💓 AQC Jetway 707 lol I'd just call it my Limonado 😁
Several of the concepts you say 'never made it to full production' were never meant to. The Colombus, the Capsula and the Biga are all by Giorgetto Giugiaro and were meant as pure concepts to generate and display different ways of thinking about cars. The Colombus was a celebration, modular cars displayed with Capsula are still being worked on but the ideas intoduced with Biga are rapidly becoming reality through various carsharing schemes.
Correct me if I´m wrong, but the last car had a 1959 Caddy bumper, 1959-1960 Lincoln headlights, 1961-1962 Chrysler dash, 1979-1989 Ford steering wheel, 1960 Desoto tail fins & lights and a 1958 Caddy bumper (rear). What did I miss?
These vehicles almost prove a point that holds true with any invention. I'm sure everyone watching sees at least one that they like and think should've been successful. Anything you make has more to do with how you market it as anything. Timing and luck are imperative also. Many are too far ahead of their time and knowing human nature and our resistance to change is important

The engine was in the middle of it. Rear wheel drive. IT could make a high end passenger uber/lift transport
