    BYRON KATIE on: We are not the body:
    Mind is mind and body is body. People who focus on the body don't make it: They live in fear of death of the body.
    Is your mind open enough to question your assumptions or beliefs?
    Byron Katie is the founder of The Work. Katie (as everyone calls her) not only shows us that all the problems in the world originate in our thinking but gives us the tool to open our minds and set ourselves free.
    The Work is based on FOUR QUESTIONS which can be done on your own or with another person, ending with a process called a "Turnaround": The four questions are:
    1. Is it true?
    2. Can you absolutely know that it's true?
    3. How do you react when you believe that thought?
    4. Who would you be without the thought?

    1. Est-il vrai?
    2. Pouvez-vous absolument savoir que c'est vrai?
    3. Comment réagissez-vous quand vous croyez cette pensée?
    4. Qui seriez-vous sans cette pensée?

    attachment is not the only proof of past, the scar on my foot is proof that in the past I tripped on a branch and cut my foot. Ultimately everything could be an ilusion, but in this level of time and space existence I did trip and cut my foot and now I have a scar.

    • @mst1740
      @mst1740 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you know you didn't get knocked out and the scar is from something else entirely? Maybe you have amnesia and just think the scar is from tripping over a branch? The point is, you only believe that you got your scar from the branch because you are believing your story. By the way, it is fine to believe you got the scar that way as long as thinking that way isn't hurting you or causing you harm. She is saying what Tony Robbins says, in essence. Everything we think we know of the past comes from memories and multiple scientific experiments have proved that our memories are flawed. So why hold on to something just because you remember it a certain way? That's her point. Don't change your memories, just question them. That takes the power out of painful ones.

    What _is_ real? How do you _define_ real? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain. Whence come I and whither go I?the key is that we ourselves are a part of the mystery that we are trying to solve.

    Glad to have found your post. I also find that existence seems to reside in the summation of collective thought - a universal pool, as it were - as with our thoughts we create the existence and experience around us. Our experiences of existence are of a self-imposed narrative. We tell ourselves that 'things are this way because of that' - when really, what we perceive to be existence, and believe to be factual, is actually just perspective - our own 'take' on things.
    There is a reason that we have many of the cliches that we do, that we become tired of - that are obvious - but they are rooted in truth.
    If life is a dream and can be dictated to by thought, we ought to make those thoughts kind, gentle, compassionate and seeking to promote change for the love that is the collective whole.

    While I love all of Katie's videos, this one seemed to go even 'deeper' into some of her descriptions of the work and how it reveals itself within her life. I think Joginder did a great job with his questions throughout this series, probing a bit deeper into the things Katie often says but which may not always have a chance be understood more fully.

    @antwanfisha I agree with you about the fact that, in this example, your father beat you up, that was real, that happened, no doubt about it. In this example someone migth be thinking: "he beats me up, he doesn't love me". The undeniable fact is that he beats you up, no discussion about it, the meaning i gave to it is "he doesn't love me". That is what she invites us to inquiry with the 4 questions. Why questioning? well, you may discover suffering is optional. Why not questioning? Best regards

    @antwanfisha @antwanfisha Shared reality is something you may want look into a little deeper. What BK does is simply question what you perceive as reality and how that perception sets off your emotional response to that perception. She found a way to put perceived shared reality to the test (There are, of course, much more elaborate ways such as zazen and zen). Are you aware of what in you wants to be war-y?

    Dreams are based on our subconscious.
    We are ruled by our subconscious..all our fears are held there and play back to us like a tape.
    Everything material decays, "Reality is in the things unseen , not seen, for the things seen are temporary"
    But, to me, feelings are much more important than analysing .
    Intellectuality is not important. We are ruled by feelings, and those are in the subconscious.
    John Ruskan is the person who makes much more sense of who we truly are.

    @7777382 To come to understand the spirit and the word of God, you have to open your mind to it. When the mind is filled with misconceptions and fears, that will be very difficult. When you shine a light on these misconceptions, this light is fuelled by great Wisdom. The light is to encompassing to give it a name, some might say God.

  • @joseph4756
    @joseph4756 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    What might be "incredibly obvious" is that all you see is a perception, or in other words, "all you see." In that light, there is nothing that is ever "incredibly obvious" other to the one perceiving it, who, if he were as intelligent as you apparently believe you are would realize what a cosmic joke his perception of the "incredibly obvious" is! Grow TFU!

    @andrewestbrook its important to note that we view the present through a veil of past conditioning which prevents us from seeing what is truly going on. We see, literally, the past. When you look at a lamp you are seeing your conditioned interpretation of it, that is why a lamp seems rather mundane. We're not seeing it as it truly is. The word "lamp" has hindered our ability to see the miracle that is there.

    We all need more love; that magical, transforming power. When we let it into our hearts, our world shifts. Nothing truly matters except the way we give and receive love. I highly recommend: “Precious Gifts of Love” by C.J. Good (AMAZON). 366 daily reflections explore the meaning and miracles of love. Breaking through the confines of self-imposed obstacles to freedom; feeling contentment in all aspects of life, is the purpose of its message.

    @tchiritchou "Row your boat...merrily ...life is but a dream". I'd say it surely can B interpreted like a dream, in which all the major characters R but reflections of aspects of self & the narrative (story line) has somethin 2 say 2 us, the dreamer, specifically. We recall the dreams we have as we wake, cuz waking overlaps sleepin. 4 most of us, this is the only chance our bodies get 2 speak & B heard. It's like the rest of our consciousness, severed off, thrusts into view what must 4 survival

    @HanTuber If you go on the street and you see something like this - you can do something. But, if you know that somewhere children are raped or animals hurt - you have the influence on how you feel with that fact. I know it seem sometimes terrible, but look - when you don't accept the fact, that somewhere there are hurting animals in this moment, YOU are hurted also by your beliefs. In this case, you are in the hell, not the children/animals. "They should'nt hurt them" - is that true?

    @darshanonearth dreams are a dream of many dreams...or a sneak preview of thoughts you had during the day of even weeks,..they mean nothing..question is who is the dreamer..? who is reading this post..?...who wants to know....?

  • @summondadrummin
    @summondadrummin 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @darshanonearth My guess is a dream is an ephemeral story, thought or image that temporarily captures our awareness and convinces us of its reality as apart from us even though its us creating the story were at its source~were the dreamer.So maybe the notion that life is a dream makes more sense if we include and were the dreamer.

  • @gabonino_music
    @gabonino_music 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @antwanfisha You are missing the whole point here, when she says that there is no past she is talking about the meaning it has for us. Let's say that in the past your father used to beat you up, that is a fact, of course he did it, what is not a fact and what is to be questioned is the meaning you gave to the fact of your fater beating you up. Maybe you think it means he didn't love you, maybe you think you were not good enough for him, etc. Question the meaning not the facts

    Just my opinion, but I think BK is a bit off. I think a wound is evidence of the past. A car crushed up from slamming head on into an 18 wheeler is evidence of the past. I don't think she's totally insane, just perhaps somewhat delusional. Maybe some of the things she says are true, but overall I'm not convinced enough to change my life. I do appreciate the post and God speed if you choose that path, but be wary of some of her theories.

I do believe BK has good intentions, but she seems to be losing her grip on reality. I could be wrong. When you say question the meaning not the facts, I say why question it at all? I am who I am and things happen. I also make things happen. That's my life, and I wouldn't change it for the world. Best regards
