UPDATE (6/25/2024): The Double Class Item "Bug/Exploit" has just been patched. Still, running Dual Destiny in an efficient manner (20-30min) is still an effective farm and the "better" option if you want to avoid RNG. You can also just teleport to "The Landing", even while you are there to refresh the instance. My brain just never figured that would work XD So, for the most optimal chest farm, just keeping reloading "The Landing". Didn't really impact my farming, as I liked the change of scenery in "The Impasse".
Dude, solo player are “complaining” because you need another person to access it. Not because they have to run it at all. If there was a solo version I’m sure they would run it constantly but they can’t. That’s the issue.
@@Levord1980 I know that. And you only need to run it 1 time per character. So you need to find 1 person, 1 (to 3) time(s). I get people's issues and anxiety with it, I really do. I started as a solo/duo players for years. Eventually I found a good clan, grew out of my shell (as someone who has social anxiety), and started teaching raids and dungeons. This is just a 1 time commitment and then you never need to find people again. But if people are complaining about this, why not the acquisition of Raid or dungeon exotics? Those need 3 to 6 people.

yeah idk why this was not being mentioned in the video. No need to overcomplicate it. The chests spawn in very consistently after 30 seconds each time. No need to go to orbit or a different zone in between.
That is pain. In the past week, i had dropped around 30 bonds. One of them had Osmio + Star Eaters (The last one that dropped). All other 29 bonds had either Secant Filaments or Stag in the first column. Never saw any other perk there. Rng is Rng but this was bullshit.

There is a glitch you can do to get two. If you are both the same class, pick up the first one (both players pick up the same item) at the same time, then to back to the entrance of the boss arena and return to allies at the same time. Then go pick up the remaining item at the same time and you both get two

The rng will take no prisoners here. Some people are really lucky, and some get absolutely fucking annihilated. After like 15 laps around the landing, opening 5-7 chests each time, i've seen one exotic total
@@TheDeadlyefx At 5:00 he says you don't need to complete the Campaign on your alt characters. You just need to unlock the mission on 1 character than you can do the mission on all 3 characters.
RNG is a horrible loot system, i hate they locked these exotics into it. Imho they should have made some sort of token system so you can choose the perks you want after completing like 10 DD missions choosing a token instead of a random roll each time.
@@dankerbell the perk roll is rng. Took me waay too long to get the two i wanted. Probably got over 100 of the damn exotics. Now all the voice lines in the pale heart are just annoying 😅
Also, from a game design point of view and as a solo player, it feels a bit boring and stupid to waste time doing endless circles in the landing for these items. If the mission would not have the double loot glitch, many "non-solos" would be complaining, too. It would have been better to earn tokens or xp (like ciphers) from playing the game in an relevant way and then work towards the wanted combination of perks.
@@pemker jsyk the fireteam finder is a good way to meet people in game to play with. I've met a couple cool people i get along with there by creating a posting with the mic required option to find people i can talk to.
chests are nice if you need to farm pale engrams for red borders too. I just mix both. 100+ class items later i still dont have the roll i want anyways lmao
I've seen more findings favoring 2.5% but who knows. Also you can load into the landing from the landing, no extra load times. Also fully optimized loops are FASTER than running x1 drop than Dual Destiny but not better than the x2 drop exploit.
I've now opened almost 1500 chests. Just starting to farm, no more than 1 or two exotics per character. My biggest disappointment is the dupe rate. On my warlock, out of my fi4st 16, i had 6 dupes. I think we need a little better dupe protection as the farther i go, the more likely of a dupe. But 40% on a blank character to start is too much.
i kinda wish Dual Destiny had more to it? for most people it's a one and done never look back and will only farm at pale now. They could've got away with making the exotic class item more customizable by allowing players maybe unlock things in the mission maybe Hidden transmog that made the class item a subclass ornament something special you know. It was such a fun mission but could've had more hidden rewards but that is asking for too much from bungie
Yeah if you can get competent people it's just better to run the mission and get the double drops. I just got two really good rolls on my hunter and that took 30 minutes
Damn I did about 300 yesterday. About 1 for every 70-80 Edit there are 5 chest spawn in the landing don’t waste your time looking for more just fast travel back to the landing. Chest spawn around 20 seconds after spawning. Once you get to about tier 2 of overthrow, go into orbit and go back into the land because some events can disrupt your route. Your skimmer and an eager edge sword are your best friend
Yeah the right is very random, when i did it on my titan i got one in my first chest, but when i was doing it on my hunter i got to in 1 hour and 30 minutes
yes. you must have completed Dual Destiny at least once (which will add it to your collection), on that character, before you can get Exotic Class items to drop from Pale Heart chests (or Xur).
I have run owergrowth for some 50 hours or so and so far gotten zero good exotic class items, had maby 30 duplicates of the literaly exact same one with weapon ready stow and rifts give devour
One (one mission completition) is waaaayyy more as zero, one could say infinity time more for all which will never complete it, but are playing and looting area just now.
honestly great to have the info and i will 100% use it but also just cause something can be done doesn't mean how its done is good, this is absolutely awful game design for an other wise amazing dlc so far. requiring players to find another player to sit and do the same thing over and over or doing literally the most boring crap like opening chests is just not okay for an item that not only has several variants but is also pivotal to load outs. hope they do better in the future cause this is pretty disappointing.
Yeah its full on bullshit I wasted 2 hours of my life last night. Opened well over 200 chests = zero class items I tried multiple approaches: Each zone then go to space. Go in reverse order. On foot. On skimmer. Fought nearby mobs first. Fought nearby mobs after. Didnt fight nearby mobs at all. Fought some > opened chest > fought the rest This is Powerball in a nutshell. Play our shitty little lie because yOu CaNt WiN iF yOu DoNt PlAy... Find a run a friend. Rent one if you have to. Run Dual Destiny. Dont waste your time on this garbage

Even if your a solo player you should be able to get the mission done, just get a decent team from lfg not fireteam finder. Stop making the excuse that u can’t do it because ur “solo”
Notes on chests runs!!!! I’ve farmed these chests for 5 days already. 1. It’s feels like it’s not a probability, it’s a requirement. On average I’ve obtained 1 class item every 75 chests or so (not a 1/50) and have never gotten any close to each other. 2. You can just teleport to the landing’s destination and chests will re-spawn, sometimes as you’re doing the run, you’ll see them spawn in, you’ll hear a noise and experience a small screenshake signifying they’ve spawned. 3. Chests seem so be in a group, if one chest spawns in a certain location then others don’t. You gotta learn them. 4. (Hunters) Aim for high mobility as it makes you jump higher, you gain better height to spot chests in the distance to save you time from running over to check to see if it spawned. 5. (Hunters) Run frostees + grapple nade, it’ll make for faster runs as you can get your grapple back faster 6. Aim for the “sprint = amplify” buff in the Pale Heart destination (can’t think of the name I’m sorry)
My friend got class items from back to back chests yesterday, so yeah. It's just RNG. Like I said in the video, I had a run where i get one in 30 chests, and another one above 90 chests. That's why I logged every chest to see.
@@Commander_Pika Lucky you guys then, my drops are literally never below 75, in fact yesterday alone after coming from work I sat there and farmed, only to get one at 77, 77, 83, 85, 75.
@@Commander_Pika its not just RNG. It is 100% true that drop chance increases as you hit more chests. If it was a flat 2% drop rate there would be way more instances of the class items dropping closer together, but this pretty much never happens. If you're friend truly got back to back drops, this is insane luck. After getting you're exotic to drop the next chest probably has less than 0.1% chance to drop.
Casual Gamer did a pretty good video on this, & tbh. It’s about the same, farming the chests & doing the mission. The mission is only better if you are very fast &/or do the double item bug.
If u ignore RNG. Since there is no drop protection, doing Dual Destiny will almost always be the best farm (double drop exploit or not). But since there are multiple options for people to farm, do what is easiest and most convenient.
2% yes them duplicate start dropping and u start to lose hope on getting the 1/64 roll It's a pain I have 4 duplicate back to back today on dual destiny them 2 more duplicate from chest
A faster way of respawning the chests is starting and finishing at the stairs, once you finish a loop go towards the lost city then immediately go back to the landing once it pops on screen the new area. No returning to orbit or fast traveling required
My problem as a solo player isn’t “finding teammates” or “making friends” it’s that the majority of players in this game are casual which is fine, but forcing me to roll the dice and end up with a casual player most of the time makes farming insufferable. I’ve taught 3 people how to do this at the cost of hours and many resets and have had one (1) competent teammate. My reward after this is getting to burn hours of my time opening chests for a specific roll that I am highly unlikely to get. Everything about this is laborious and generally unsatisfying and I would love for someone to try and change my mind.
Bruh the amount of incompetent people. If I don’t see 100 resilience I always know they’re going to die all the time. Bro, I killed all 4 of my knights meanwhile he’s on his second knight dying non stop. I get some people just play to play but oof do they not read or look up how to at least get güd. He was also using double primary. He was like “I love red death because of all the healing,” meanwhile he keeps dying 😭 bruh
not disagreeing with your point, but if you don't have any issues using LFG, why not just find a dedicated clan or make one and prospect for hardcore players?
@@thesen8 that’s genuinely the dream (as far as destiny 2 is concerned anyway) I’ve joined a bunch of clans that all claim to be raiders and grinders but in actuality there’s maybe one or two players on regularly and when I suggest running a raid or dungeon they rarely want to, instead opting for solo activities/chilling or something of that nature. When I’ve approached discords of speedrunners and/or low man’s etc they’re a little beyond my skill level and (in my experience) aren’t the most approachable people. Not to mention I have little to no experience in those specific activities and I understand they’d rather do runs with their existing teams or B teams than teach a relative newcomer. I suppose I could attempt solo speedrunning to garner clout to perhaps get my foot in the door with one of these groups but that would likely require a substantial time commitment which I’m currently unable to make. Tldr; I guess I’ve been unlucky with groups I’ve come across in my searching:)
I ran around like a mad man and picked up every chest I seen, ended up doing 3.5 overthrows to get 1 drop😅. FK that, mission way easier and more engaging. So far I got 5-6 people from LFG through it as well.
hope bungie make alternate activity to get exotic class item, yes i know dual destiny is easy enough but that not guarantee you to run smoother below 20 min if one of you is selfish and ended up messed up atleast chest farm is not pain enough player like farming opulent key at leviathan where chest spawn is also RNG each zone that make F2P player suffer for farm, it took me half month to get 5 total calus minitool
thanks for this... yeah i can absolutely say it is definitely the truth. i farmed that way with may warlock, hunter and titan.... don know why, hunter was the best luck to do this, warlock was good, titan felt unlucky....With the hunter it was like aprox every 30 chest, for a dozen chests... With warlock aprox 40 to 50 chests.. With the titan, it took more, one round was 110 or 120 chests for a drop....regards

How to burn yourself out on a game: the guide ;) Also, it seemed like a lot fewer chests per item to me. Definitely not 50... 20-30 at most. Then again I did not reload the zone after every loop. I just kept circling the area. Maybe thats the difference.
The circle loop at the landing is boring and brainless, but it works. I do it when I have extra time and my friends aren’t on. I have about 10 per character and 1 great one per character.
For me, this has been called "the final farm" like.. I've grinded games... But this is torture... I'm 7 days in... Why the hell can't we buy them from Rahul for 250k glimmer....
I did a fair amount of farming chests last week and eventually (after 8 class items, I think) chests started awarding nothing but XP. No class items, no engrams, no nothing. Just XP. I went to orbit, different landing zones, even waited until the next day after the daily reset. Still just XP. Any idea what happened? Also, I can confirm no knockout system. I got two of the exact same class items.
5:24 I never understood this idea with the destiny community. Its been really rough for me to find ONE person to play with, but there is this idea of "Oh now that you have found one just go find three or SIX now" like wtf..... The game is fun, but the fact that it is near impossible for you to do some content unless you have a group is so frustrating, yet people say "Uhh just do it"
While i have ppl i can farm the mission with and ive done hours of chest farming i dont particularly enjoy either of these play loops. If i couldnt get double exotics from the mission id not do it at all. Getting a god roll is too inconsistent as well without some kind of knockout system. Ive gotten some god rolls like calibans liars 3x and osmiomancy verity but something like point contact severance i havent gotten after so so many drops.
I did 7 days worth of nothing but patrols. I found the perfect rolls for all 3 of my classes, but not the “god rolls” recommended by the critics. Having fun with your builds while maintaining endgame survivability is optimal.

it took me around 1,5h with this method to get a single class items with the worst roll known to mankind, yeah no i won't be farming this one, i'll stick to my regular builds.
@@adelalazmy9854 you must clear Dual Destiny at least once, on that character, to get exotic class items on that character. So, to get class items on you Warlock, your Warlock must complete Dual Destiny.
no, the class item won’t start dropping until the you do the mission on that specific character. but since you unlocked the mission on warlock at least-as long as your friend/duo has the mission unlocked also, then you can switch to hunter (even if hunter hasn’t started dlc) and do the mission, and every chest from the campaign and such will have a chance to drop the class item

Mans wasting time going to a different zone or going to orbit, just load the same node again, you dont need to go back to orbit, the chests will respawn. Nah, chests are still better, its not 90 chests, thats rediculous, while it is RNG based, its typically 30 to 35 chests, you just said it was 1 per 20m, even at 30m thats still an sub optimal DD run.

dual destiny still gives 2. my brother and i just ran dual destiny 2 days ago and both of us got 2 of the exotic from it.

Opened 75 chests got no class item.
I do this on the impass because by the time you loop once chests begin to respawn so you never have to reload or switch zones

I personally find the mission fun and love to carry clan mates and sometimes randoms and even with them I still end with 22 mins on the clock

Notes on chests runs!!!!
I’ve farmed these chests for 5 days already.
1. It’s feels like it’s not a probability, it’s a requirement.
On average I’ve obtained 1 class item every 75 chests or so (not a 1/50) and have never gotten any close to each other.
2. You can just teleport to the landing’s destination and chests will re-spawn, sometimes as you’re doing the run, you’ll see them spawn in, you’ll hear a noise and experience a small screenshake signifying they’ve spawned.
3. Chests seem so be in a group, if one chest spawns in a certain location then others don’t. You gotta learn them.
4. (Hunters) Aim for high mobility as it makes you jump higher, you gain better height to spot chests in the distance to save you time from running over to check to see if it spawned.
5. (Hunters) Run frostees + grapple nade, it’ll make for faster runs as you can get your grapple back faster
6. Aim for the “sprint = amplify” buff in the Pale Heart destination (can’t think of the name I’m sorry)
My friend got class items from back to back chests yesterday, so yeah. It's just RNG. Like I said in the video, I had a run where i get one in 30 chests, and another one above 90 chests. That's why I logged every chest to see.
@@Commander_Pika Lucky you guys then, my drops are literally never below 75, in fact yesterday alone after coming from work I sat there and farmed, only to get one at 77, 77, 83, 85, 75.
@@Commander_Pika its not just RNG. It is 100% true that drop chance increases as you hit more chests. If it was a flat 2% drop rate there would be way more instances of the class items dropping closer together, but this pretty much never happens. If you're friend truly got back to back drops, this is insane luck. After getting you're exotic to drop the next chest probably has less than 0.1% chance to drop.
Around 25-30mins for me. Farmed it for 2 hours and got 4 with booty dunk rolls
Casual Gamer did a pretty good video on this, & tbh. It’s about the same, farming the chests & doing the mission. The mission is only better if you are very fast &/or do the double item bug.
If u ignore RNG. Since there is no drop protection, doing Dual Destiny will almost always be the best farm (double drop exploit or not). But since there are multiple options for people to farm, do what is easiest and most convenient.
For anyone wanting to make Dual Destiny even faster, Microcosm absolutely shreds the subjugator and tormentor bosses ^_^

2% yes them duplicate start dropping and u start to lose hope on getting the 1/64 roll It's a pain I have 4 duplicate back to back today on dual destiny them 2 more duplicate from chest
A faster way of respawning the chests is starting and finishing at the stairs, once you finish a loop go towards the lost city then immediately go back to the landing once it pops on screen the new area. No returning to orbit or fast traveling required
real problem is using lfg and the complete assholes that make up the community. rage kick and quit for any little thing. it’s wild.
My problem as a solo player isn’t “finding teammates” or “making friends” it’s that the majority of players in this game are casual which is fine, but forcing me to roll the dice and end up with a casual player most of the time makes farming insufferable. I’ve taught 3 people how to do this at the cost of hours and many resets and have had one (1) competent teammate. My reward after this is getting to burn hours of my time opening chests for a specific roll that I am highly unlikely to get. Everything about this is laborious and generally unsatisfying and I would love for someone to try and change my mind.

Bruh the amount of incompetent people. If I don’t see 100 resilience I always know they’re going to die all the time. Bro, I killed all 4 of my knights meanwhile he’s on his second knight dying non stop. I get some people just play to play but oof do they not read or look up how to at least get güd. He was also using double primary. He was like “I love red death because of all the healing,” meanwhile he keeps dying 😭 bruh
not disagreeing with your point, but if you don't have any issues using LFG, why not just find a dedicated clan or make one and prospect for hardcore players?
@@thesen8 that’s genuinely the dream (as far as destiny 2 is concerned anyway) I’ve joined a bunch of clans that all claim to be raiders and grinders but in actuality there’s maybe one or two players on regularly and when I suggest running a raid or dungeon they rarely want to, instead opting for solo activities/chilling or something of that nature. When I’ve approached discords of speedrunners and/or low man’s etc they’re a little beyond my skill level and (in my experience) aren’t the most approachable people. Not to mention I have little to no experience in those specific activities and I understand they’d rather do runs with their existing teams or B teams than teach a relative newcomer. I suppose I could attempt solo speedrunning to garner clout to perhaps get my foot in the door with one of these groups but that would likely require a substantial time commitment which I’m currently unable to make.
Tldr; I guess I’ve been unlucky with groups I’ve come across in my searching:)

I ran around like a mad man and picked up every chest I seen, ended up doing 3.5 overthrows to get 1 drop😅. FK that, mission way easier and more engaging.
So far I got 5-6 people from LFG through it as well.

atleast chest farm is not pain enough player like farming opulent key at leviathan where chest spawn is also RNG each zone that make F2P player suffer for farm, it took me half month to get 5 total calus minitool
thanks for this... yeah i can absolutely say it is definitely the truth. i farmed that way with may warlock, hunter and titan.... don know why, hunter was the best luck to do this, warlock was good, titan felt unlucky....With the hunter it was like aprox every 30 chest, for a dozen chests... With warlock aprox 40 to 50 chests.. With the titan, it took more, one round was 110 or 120 chests for a drop....regards

Also, it seemed like a lot fewer chests per item to me. Definitely not 50... 20-30 at most. Then again I did not reload the zone after every loop. I just kept circling the area. Maybe thats the difference.
The circle loop at the landing is boring and brainless, but it works. I do it when I have extra time and my friends aren’t on. I have about 10 per character and 1 great one per character.
I opened 110 chests and got the shield in chest number 111 so this is crazy I don't advise anyone to do it
I only do the match making overthrow I think the result are way higher drop rate than 2%
I swear at least 2/3 of my class items have come from special chests of one type or another.

I did a fair amount of farming chests last week and eventually (after 8 class items, I think) chests started awarding nothing but XP. No class items, no engrams, no nothing. Just XP. I went to orbit, different landing zones, even waited until the next day after the daily reset. Still just XP. Any idea what happened?
Also, I can confirm no knockout system. I got two of the exact same class items.
5:24 I never understood this idea with the destiny community. Its been really rough for me to find ONE person to play with, but there is this idea of "Oh now that you have found one just go find three or SIX now" like wtf..... The game is fun, but the fact that it is near impossible for you to do some content unless you have a group is so frustrating, yet people say "Uhh just do it"
While i have ppl i can farm the mission with and ive done hours of chest farming i dont particularly enjoy either of these play loops. If i couldnt get double exotics from the mission id not do it at all. Getting a god roll is too inconsistent as well without some kind of knockout system. Ive gotten some god rolls like calibans liars 3x and osmiomancy verity but something like point contact severance i havent gotten after so so many drops.

I did 7 days worth of nothing but patrols. I found the perfect rolls for all 3 of my classes, but not the “god rolls” recommended by the critics. Having fun with your builds while maintaining endgame survivability is optimal.

it took me around 1,5h with this method to get a single class items with the worst roll known to mankind, yeah no i won't be farming this one, i'll stick to my regular builds.
I’ve done my own farming/data mining and find it’s closer to 35-40 chests. At least for me! Good luck everyone.
i found fast traveling to the landing, while in the landing, works too. just wait about 10-15 secs for the chests the actually load in

correct. Do the mission once, then you can get the exotic class items from chests on that character.

So, to get class items on you Warlock, your Warlock must complete Dual Destiny.
So doing the exotic quest on a warlock you cant farm chests on a hunter?
no, the class item won’t start dropping until the you do the mission on that specific character. but since you unlocked the mission on warlock at least-as long as your friend/duo has the mission unlocked also, then you can switch to hunter (even if hunter hasn’t started dlc) and do the mission, and every chest from the campaign and such will have a chance to drop the class item

Mans wasting time going to a different zone or going to orbit, just load the same node again, you dont need to go back to orbit, the chests will respawn.
Nah, chests are still better, its not 90 chests, thats rediculous, while it is RNG based, its typically 30 to 35 chests, you just said it was 1 per 20m, even at 30m thats still an sub optimal DD run.
All RNG. My longest recorded "dry spell" of not getting a class item was 110 chests.
