    Thanks for going through the entire review and setup for this camera. Have been searching. This answered most of my questions. Curious if you have any other footage or change in lens on this camera?

    • @ZachBrownMedia
      @ZachBrownMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, haven’t swapped out lenses at all. This one fits our needs so we’ve left it at that! We only use it for drum cam stuff so that’s pretty much the only footage I have with it.

    Hi Zach! Thank you very much for your video. I have a question to ask you, and I would be grateful if you could answer it. I was thinking of buying the Marshall cv506 to record my drumming videos for social media. But there's something that I don't understand and can't find it online: how can I see what I'm recording? The camera doesn't have a screen, so I suppose I should connect it to a computer... but how do I connect it? With the USB port? And once connected, how can I see what the camera is capturing? Do I need to download any software for that? I have a lot of doubts about this and can't figure it out. If you can answer me, you would solve a big problem for me. Thank you very much and greetings!

    • @ZachBrownMedia
      @ZachBrownMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! It's not really made for recording, it's more of a broadcast camera. It's made to send a video feed to a switcher or something similar. You can record, but it's going to take additional hardware and maybe software depending on how you go about it. A mirrorless camera or even a GoPro would probably work better for your situation!

    • @ZachBrownMedia
      @ZachBrownMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The camera defaults to 30fps. So you can change the switcher to 30fps and from there change the frame rate to whatever you’re using! Then just change the switcher back to your original fps

      You might need to change your Atem settings to match the frame rate/resolution of the cam first. 29.97 or 30 fps at 1080

    Hi Zach,
    Thanks for sharing! I just received my first Marshall CV503 camera and I don't understand how the power adapter is supposed to connect to the supplied cable. The power cable plugs into the connector just fine, but I can't figure out how it's supposed to be secured. The one end of the cable has a threaded screw, but it just spins around and doesn't secure onto the cable. Can you assist?

    • @ZachBrownMedia
      @ZachBrownMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome! Yeah it should just screw on to the thread no problem.. sounds like it could be an issue with manufacturing

    The marshal POV line are true broadcast cameras and aren't really designed for consumers or have all the bells and whistles that over process the picture or create horrible out of camera delays. more importantly these are designed to feed a 10bit 422 connection 24/7 with zero latency over SDI and HDMI. Thats something a DSLR\GoPro can't do. But again, those are more for recording and ther're heavy picture processing makes them very difficult to be fed into a broadcast workflow without extra work.
    As for the RS485 connection (the green plug). Those are pretty standard in broadcast workflows so that you can do remote shading (color and gamma correction etc) to get the image to match the other cameras. So when you have 15+ of these setup for a gig you need something like that. The image you have coming out of the 503 is not great but sense you really didn't dial it in, that's expected. Just know it can do so much better. That and the lens it comes with is not great. Just like when you buy your DSLR and it comes with a crappy kit lens...well it's kind of the same thing here.
    Overall these cameras for their cost or awesome and you can see them in action in any NBA, NFL, UFC, NASA event as these are pretty standard. But yeah. If you dive into these little guys a little more you'll quickly realize why they are so awesome especially for any production house needing 10bit 422 out 24/7. Basically these are just a sensor in a housing with no belsl and whistles so you have to do work to get them looking great although Marshall has done a great job making these types of cameras pretty easy to get going with. But it sucks how many times I see people use them without showing their full potential. And no, I'm not a marshal sales guy or anything :) good stuff

      @ZachBrownMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting, thanks for the insight! Yeah, I think I mentioned in the video that I left everything on auto.. really more out of curiosity. I've since manually dialed in the settings.
      Are there any lenses you would recommend?
