Theres something so beautiful yet eerie, with the way the female voice mournfully moans those utterances. Like from a primordial depth or maybe something beyond the past, present and future. The rattling rhythm that comes in is almost like some non human entity trying to match pace with how a human heart speeds up during a passionate and fearful moment. This is one of those few pieces of art where I can sense something not human in observing very human emotions, memories... But they dont feel like my own, maybe shared memories from all of you. I believe thats what everyone is feeling... i discovered this song when my brother was found dead after an aneurysm in his apartment, and because of flights delayed to Georgia from Philly, i missed his funeral. He was 15 years older than me, and i couldn't find it in me to grieve his death as i hardly knew him until our adult years, I felt like it'd be stupid to cry over someone you hardly remember... ties of blood never die.. and weeks after, while looking for some new music to sample i rummaged through the clams casino discography and tried for songs i hadnt heard, or always skipped...
and i heard this...
the moment my ears were struck with the ascending chords, i felt the welling heavy and deep in my solarplex, grief... i Sobbed.. i was so sorry i avoided his calls because he talked so much. i was sorry i couldnt remember the awesome big-brother insight, i was mad i wasnt born sooner so i had more things to connect with him... weeping for not spreading the roses while they still could be smelled and held...and then, as the chords augmented, the thought struck me... his life was full, and it was his time. he was a Marine, a police officer, a husband, brother and son.... not to be mourned, but celebrated.. we are all gauranteed death, but what are you filling your life with? Maximize you physical experience, before your return to spirit form.

Theres something so beautiful yet eerie, with the way the female voice mournfully moans those utterances. Like from a primordial depth or maybe something beyond the past, present and future.
The rattling rhythm that comes in is almost like some non human entity trying to match pace with how a human heart speeds up during a passionate and fearful moment.
This is one of those few pieces of art where I can sense something not human in observing very human emotions, memories...
