International Labour Organization:
1. ILO Report: “Ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate” - 22.8 M occupational injuries and 18,970 deaths due to excessive Heat.
2. ILO Report: “ India Unemployment 2024- youth education, employment and skills” - India’s youths accounts for 83% of the unemployed workforce. Youngsters with higher education accounts for 65.7% of the total unemployment.
3.ILO & National Skill Development Corporation has signed a MOU to advance skill development and lifelong learning in India and globally.
Indian Institute of Technology:
1. The Asia University Rankings 2024: Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Bengaluru ranked 32nd on the list. The Only Indian institute to feature among top 100.
2. IIT Delhi & IIT Kanpur signed a MOU with Armed Forces Medical Services to undertake research and develop innovative medical devices and Tech for Soliders’ Health Issues.
3. IIT Madras launches India’s 1st Mobile Facility for Medical Devices Calibration facility, under its ‘Anaivarukkum IITM’ initiative. Aims to provide affordable and quality Calibration services mationwide.
4. IIT Jodhpur and C-DOT signs agreement for “ Automated Service Management in Network of 5G and Beyond using AI”
Committees formed by Government:
1. Ministry of Home Affairs constituted inter-ministerial Committee to Tackle Increasing Cybercrimes Originating from Southeast Asian Region countries. It will be chaired by VSK Kaumudi, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
2. Central Government, Department of Pharmaceuticals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers Expands Committee to look into pricing reforms for drugs and medical devices.
3. Government forms a 7 member Panel to propose legislative measures and promote the commercially viable extraction of Critical Minerals. It will be headed by Vijay Kumar Saraswat, a member of NITI(Aayog).
