I loved this show was so hard to find online... luckily my cousin married a Japanese and she found DVD's collection and send it to me! TANAKA TAI KICK!!!!
I do agree that speaking English for the first time is difficult. However, when she said '10 and 20 sound the same.' I went Nope! Cause in Japanese you have Cho and Chi. Cho means Butterfly and Chi means blood. So one vowel changed two words. Where if you pronounce 10 and 20 there are some pronunciation differences.
In Thailand people will ask you your age. In the West this is considered rude, but Thais are simply trying to establish this because culturally the way you talk & interact with someone is very dependent on age/seniority. But they also have no problem telling you that you have become fat, or ask you questions like where have you been?, what did you buy?, how much do you earn?, etc.
From the beginning, I busted out laughing before he even got to 'Massachusetts'. Just him saying "I'm Annie" did it for me. 🤣
