Thanks man, I always learn something from your videos, and even though this is pretty basic stuff, I appreciate how you don't talk down to us like we're stupid. Salute
Your presentations and explanations are simple and straight forward. You have saved me a ton of money. I did not think I can learn this stuff and do my own connections. Thanks man.
I use the analog to digital connected to my cassette decks and yes i can confirm that it improves the sound quality and output volume significantelly.i recomend to anyone who uses analog sources connected to a modern amplifiers,it makes a huge difference and enables old analog gear to be used in a modern era systems!
A few gotcha's, One, your TV remote will probably NOT vary the audio level out when you use remotes volume controls, so you'll need two remotes, one for the TV and one for the sound system. Two, plugging in the toslink cable will not shut off your TV's internal speakers, meaning you'll have to remember to leave the TV's volume at zero, and turn up the external amplifier. Three, the sound from your external DAC, and the TV's internal sound will most likely NOT be in perfect sync, meaning if you run both you will perceive it as an echo. Also, as a side note, if your running an Android TV, they get upset if you use the 3.5mm headphone socket to feed an external amp, in that the TV will think your running headphones and will occasionally turn down the volume thinking it's protecting a headphone wearers hearing. (blame the EU for that silly rule) All said and done, a 'HDMI ARC' audio converter maybe a better option, as they promise being able to adjust the volume with the TV's remote. - sorry more research and spending needed to confirm this last bit.
Great input! And agree about ARC. Plus unless something else comes out, I believe HDMI ARC is going to become the new standard audio cable for home entertainment.
If the left channel on my TV does not work (no sound, just barely noticable noise) even with the built-in speakers and all of the analog outputs, is there any chance that on the digital output there will be sound with both channels?
I have speaker which have spdif/coaxial jack (not toslink), and in my tv just have toslink slot and 3.5 mm audio jack. What should i use for connect them? Need help. Thx alot.
I dont think its really recommended buying it for 5.1 Surround Channel when its limited to two Channels. you can use it with an vintage amplifier to your TV and have like a full stereo sound. unless such as PS2, DVD and BluRay players has an Toslink for 5.1 Dolby Surround but thats all about it. i got an RCA Stereo to Toslink/SPDIF Converter, using for my moms Turntable to plug the Samsung subwoofer in our living room. the subwoofer we had has one Toslink and two HDMI Inputs, ARC and regular HDMI. its kinda recommended to plug as an alternative speakers to Turntables, CD Player or Cassette deck using the converter to TV Subwoofer you already own. Since Music where mostly Stereo. Its not like that it will blows it but it does its job with very decent sound.
Thanks for this explanation. I have seen on the net, an all-in-one cables to convert digital audio to analog. My question is, which solution (all-in-one or DAC small boxes) would be better to select in terms of performance.
Thanks. I am getting the DAC converter because a TV soundbar costs too much. My computer speaker with a subwoofer which take RCA cost much less. I hope it works.
I have a question, if I connect this simple DAC converter to my TV, will it be the same quality as if I used the TV auxilary out, or will the quality be better or worse?
Hi i have an LG TV that isn't bluetooth enabled. The only audio output my TV has is the optical cable one. I wanted to get a bluetooth transmitter but i can't find any bluetooth transmitters that have optical cable input. Can i buy this converter to connect to that bluetooth transmitter? The bluetooth transmitter that i am looking for has an aux cable so i thought ill connect the bluetooth transmitter to my tv through this converter. Then will i be able to connect any bluetooth device (speaker/headphone) to my TV this way?
Hi, I have hdmi arc port in my tv but my 2.1 sound system has only RCA input I want dolby codecs to be transferred from TV ARC to RCA ? Will I get? Plz Help
i do have some questions about the uses of a DAC on something like a watchman, would i be able to mirror the screen with my laptop? I know it's possible somehow but I'm not sure if i'm looking into the right converters and cables here.
Great video, liked and subbed! May I ask you, would it be safe to go from TV Optical cable to converter then from the converter's headphones socket 3.5mm Jack to 3 PIN XLR L/R into a Crown Amp ?
I would say no because of the audio level. 3.5mm jack is at the line level and since XLR is at a lower level, it may be too much so yea. Good question, I’m not an expert but yea if say no.
Hi, my name is Mauricio. I have a question I bought a digital converter and I did hooked it up the way you show it on the video and I did got sound but my master volume won't work a won't turn the volume up or down the brand of the converter is Monster and the receiver is sunbuck what am missing please help me.
wow! thanks for the insight @josephbacus9281 - FIRST TIME ever seeing one with five rca ports - and I double-checked like 3 months ago! oh well it's a good thing. I'm going to add it to the description.
I Bought A Reverse Converter To Connect My Wii To My Computer Speaker (Logitech z906). It Has A Dolby Pro Logic II Decoder That Converts To Dolby Digital {AC-3}.
My DAC is just like the one you have. However, my father told me that I should have bought a good quality DAC. Should I replace my present tiny DAC with expensive one?
Hello, yea the DAC'S my channel shows are aimed at filing a gap i.e. making connections in areas where it's not possible due to non-matching ports. Then there's a whole world of DAC's that focus on trying to ensure that you get the best possible sound quality when converting from digital to analog. Consider going with an expensive one not just b/c it may sound better but b/c it will probably last longer than a cheap one too. How much better will it sound? Well that's entering subjective territory, will the difference be big enough to justify the cost? That's up to the buyer.
@@SimpleCafeE I can't afford good quality DACs because they are pricey. I've found in online shop a chinese brand FX Audio DAC with bluetooth. Is it a good? Thanks a lot.
@@SimpleCafeE By the way. My tiny Prozor DAC is connected to an old surround sound amplifier which is I guess the sound quality is as good as expensive home theater sound system.
Using one of these converters is the only way to covert you analog 7.1 Realtek audio system to use a digital sound bar. which only has an HDMI and an optical port when you only have a 5.1 analog 3.5 jack audio system. Under no circumstances will windows allow you to use a digital and analog output audio system simultaneously . using a Logitech system which ties up 4 of my analog output jacks but i thought if I bought a digital sound bar that this would add even batter immersive sound to my front audio channel an allow my analog system to handle center and subwoofer channels independently of the digital sound bar but that doesn't work. Using the record device as a play back device only results in an unsynchronous playback.
My monitor has a headphone jack and my sound bar has an optical port. What can I use because I already have the prozor digital to analog converter and a mini toslink to toslink cable
I dont see the need to have 5 speakers just to watch the TV. Just connect your stereo if your going too watch a very good movie and if it is a big screen
Problem with these audio converters is ... most are junk for usage like 'karaoke' where video is coming from TV and you are converting tv's audio hdmi or optical to analog speaker input. Sound and Video is all out of sync!

Hmmm. I don’t think so. I think Dolby is an output of more than 2 audio channels and as you know, each RCA cable is one audio channel.

Digital Optical (Output - 4K TV) -> Coax Digital (Input - Phillips Home Theater). What about that? will the conversion device work?
thank you! very simple language and educational. I learned something new.
Glad to hear that!
My tv has coaxial and souybar has optical,AUX,HDMI Arc how to connect plz hlp

When I turn on the rec cable, the sound of the TV keeps coming. Plz hlap
volume down or go to settings and see if it has option for external speakers only. but tbh I don't think it will, still worth a shot.
What If The Converter Has Dolby Pro Logic II Decoder? Wouldn't It Work?

It's working But the additional problem is that we can't control the volume through the TV remote. Please Let me know if anyone resolved it
You need to control volume on the source device, the one that is sending the digital signal. TV is just receiving it

auxiliary 3.5mm and optical cable plus the analog to digital converter.
