Oakland mayor tight-lipped on FBI probe, blasts recall effort as a waste of taxpayer money

- In an interview on CBS News Bay Area Thursday, Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao said the effort to recall her from office is a "disservice to our democratic process" and "a significant waste of taxpayer money" while declining to comment on the current FBI investigation that involved a raid on her home.
When you are corrupt and you act like you are innocent, that's a whole other level of corruption. An utter disgrace and betrayal to the people who she serves as a public servant.

The citizens of Oakland voted her into office. Oakland citizens need to vote to remove Rank Choice as an option for voters. I understand it exists to save money and going back to ballot box. She got into office as did Jean Quan if I recall, who was also a disappointment to Oakland citizens. Oakland is a city that needs an experienced person at the helm with the city council to right the ship. Look around the country and you will see other cities that continued to elect poor leadership and the cities fell. Some of those cities are starting to rebound after 30 plus years because of better leadership and the Mayor and city council getting on the same page.

If crime is down as the Mayor says then Oakland wouldn’t need the Governor sending in CHP and other law officers to help with lawlessness in Oakland that the Mayor and OPD can’t control. I’ve lived in Oakland since 1983 and I don’t remember a Governor having to send in extra law enforcement to quell crime. It’s out of hand now and the Mayor has done nothing except say crime is down. If crime is down then why does the Governor of CA have to send in CHP and other officers ???
