Will Love in Spring (Springtime for Lovers) deals with an unusual subject about death and dying but it is very warm hearted and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this original story
Absolutely loved “To The Wonder” the story fascinating, the acting was first class and probably the best to ever come out of China , and the scenery was stunning
I liked Shen Li a lot, but missed Heroes... Saw other nice dramas: totally enthralled by To The Wonder. Before getting back to familiar c dramaland with Zhang Ruoyun reprising the role of Fan Xian for a sequel to the long ago cliffhanger. Very much liked also War of Faith, for which Wang Yibo should have gotten an award. I had watched too the dramas by Lin Yi, one of which was as strong (not just entertaining) as Born To Run. So I gladly followed to The Tale of Rose, where three other actors I have in great esteem were leads and Lin Gengxin was to show another side of his mastery in acting.
It started at 7.1 and has now risen to 7.3 on Douban. It is more for mature audiences, even if the first part should satisfy the young who want to watch passion and tons of kisses ; the married part is hard to watch because Meigui did not get what she hoped for. The latter parts are somewhat too short to be fully balanced with the story over-all ; it is a "slice of life" rather than a usual romance, so the lopsidedness reflects the ups and downs and short-changing of a real life. It i getting better appreciated and rated, as time goes by and those who liked it go back to re-watch it and find meaningful quotes, or visual answers to some puzzling moments.
Everyone have different preferences. Joy of Life S2 is still a better drama. It's at the same level as Nirvana in Fire in terms of plots, experienced actors/actresses and story execution!
Many here have misunderstanding. The channel is talking about the DOUBAN rating of Cdramas. It's like China's IMDB but covers a lot of thing: books, dramas, movies etc. So it's where and how Chinese people rate them. MDL is the site for international audience.
War Of Faith is 7.8.....a masterpiece drama 💚💚💚💚 Only War Of Faith is the only drama which became blockbuster hit from IQIYI 2024. Other IQIYI dramas disappointed me.
Maybe it was hard to maintain all the sparks of "Season 1" and the time gone by was too long. I appreciated that all in cast save 4 came back. And enjoyed it throughout. Good entertainment value, which justifies the good Douban rating, boosted by Season 1 which was also in the top ten weekly dramas watched for several weeks (by those who had not watched it before, and by those who needed reminders : Season 2 is not a standalone. What's more frustrating is that there is a planned S3 and perhaps S4 but as someone quipped, if we have to wait so many years to get it, we may have passed from youth to old age in between, or not be there any longer having passed into a "better world" !!
I’ve been watching The Double on Netflix. Sorry, but it’s super overrated. The cinematography is beautiful, but the cast has zero chemistry. The FL is 33; a very pretty 33 but she looks like she’s in her late twenties or early thirties. They have her trying to play 21 with a cast of peers that are 21-23. It’s very distracting. Why not just make the character older and show how she attracted these young people with her kindness and wit???

For me The best drama of this year is The Legend of Shen Li!! Also Heroes was a very good drama!
