Ren speaking facts, as usual. Can't wait for Troubles to drop tomorrow. Another fantastic reaction 💜💜

Love this one. Such a statement and I completely relate it to the Money Game trilogy. More greed .

    Thanks for the reaction.
Did you see the "chapters" ren is dropping recently on his second channel?
If not, watch them, they are mindblowing.

So Crucify Your Culture is the weirdest thing for me.
It blows my mind every time I hear it, including the driving groove it's built over - I *really* love it. And that lyric video is TOP TIER.
Except it's like I can never remember it exists. I only ever listen to it when it shows up on one of the reaction channels I love (hi Nav, lol!)
Anyway. Yeah. This song, man. So many of the lyrics are just so well-written; Ren manages to distill SO MUCH down into concise verses here. One-liner/"catch phrase" stuff that hits the point home, clearly articulated. I imagine lots of younger Ren fans over the years since its release (and maybe even not-so-young fans who'd never been particularly political) heard certain things said in the lyrics that lit lightbulbs for them, or gave them vocabulary/ways of looking at things that had maybe bothered them before but they couldn't figure out how to talk about it/voice their objections without sounding confused.
... on another topic... I hope you've been catching Ren's "Chapter" readings over on his other channel RenMakesStuff? In case you haven't, it's something he's written about his journey through chronic illness. It's SUPER intense, so anyone who hasn't been watching, just... don't approach it until you're in an ok headspace to do so, but it's mind-blowingly well-done and SO very Ren. He's been releasing one "chapter" per day (each ends with one of his videos he's chosen to exemplify/illustrate the events of the chapter he read) - today is Chapter 8, which is the end of it, and if I understanding the timing right, his new song Troubles will be released afterwards.
I cannot recommend watching these Chapters readings highly enough. For any Ren fan, but also, for anyone dealing with chronic illness, or anyone who has a loved one dealing with chronic illness... and for all humans, because 21st century life in the dominant society on the planet "hides" a lot of suffering from those of us fortunate enough to have our health (physical and mental), which means we're losing our understanding of suffering and illness which means we're not developing the kind of empathy (as a population) that's necessary in order to look at what we're doing to the planet and each other and say "hey, we should really do things differently here."
edit: that's not me dissing people or saying "there are LOTS of jerks in the world and you, person who's reading these words right now, are likely one of them" - I promise, I don't mean it as an insult or a personal failing. It's a systemic thing; the world shapes us in certain ways, and imo there's no explanation for why we're "okay" with human rights abuses being perpetrated in our name, why we're "okay" with our own actions contributing to trashing the living systems of the planet which themselves are necessary to support human life on Earth, except this weird detachment society creates in the vast majority of us. Which is partly what Crucify Your Culture (and a reasonable amount of Ren's catalogue) is about. Ren's entire existence is exactly what I mean when over the years I've said: we need ARTISTS in the movement (ie, in my climate activism circles, in my Indigenous sovereignty activism circles, in my antifascist activism circles). Artists of all kinds are what's needed for ANY culture shift; art "translates" thoughts and ideas into feelings and beliefs. I think that if the antifascism movement in general, was able to include more "art therapy" as a regular activity in our organizing, we'd a) cultivate far better mental/emotional resilience within the movement, which would be a mind-blowing asset because it's so traumatic to wake up every day and confront our own coerced participation in the abuses that the dominant planetary society perpetrates... b) we'd help people discover that they're artists (whether they were artists whose art would "participate" politically the way I'm talking about, or not... I think it's important to acknowledge that people who *should* be spending their time doing whatever kind of art, are kept from realizing that that's what they should be doing to be happy)... and c) we'd find all the artists we need, to translate ideas into feelings and beliefs, and have that art spread far and wide to ignite those ideas in people we'd otherwise never reach.
    ********
But yeah, watching those Chapters videos is absolutely a must-watch for anyone who even partially enjoys Ren's music imo, although again, I'd caution people to approach them understanding that they're a rough ride.

I love this one so much, it's got an old punk feel that suits the message so well, but has got a driving, RATM-ish track carrying it along. Definitely suits the Money Game universe.

I love that line too... its a long way down into the rabbit hole, alice 😂🐇🕳💜 to me this seems like it could go along with the money game theme really well. It's like a cousin to the money game trilogy 😂

Nav, you're always providing such worthwhile commentary about Ren's lyrics that I haven't considered. And that's ultimately the focus of much of his music; speaking about the topics that are often smothered by the cloak of misinformation.
When a Shadow Aeternum reaction drops, it's as if I'm sitting up late in the night with a trusted friend discussing the deep topics. Thank you greatly for your work in bringing us these reactions. ❤
