Good job on the effects! I was getting tired of those filters other youtubers use. Glad you put in the effort to make a "true" filter!

    • @NewAgeServerAlarm
      @NewAgeServerAlarm  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

you can’t have an authentic VHS look if you are just applying a filter to a 1080p video. It needs to be scaled down and interlaced but computers still cannot effectively produce the chaotic randomness that recording to magnetic tape and then back again is able to do.
this is exactly what I did. I first exported the video at 480i then I fed the video into a VCR and recorded it to a tape and then I played back the tape through a video capture device into OBS studio using a profile for VHS, and then took the resulting file and put that into the video editor.

We have 3 of these panels installed in buildings owned by the town that I work for, I believe they were installed around 1988. The sewer plant's system had ceiling mount motion detectors as well as window break sensors, door magnets, and suporvisory zones set up for pumps in case of a failure, flood, overflow etc.. Unfortunately its been long disconnected. The only one thats still operational is the one at the borough maintance shop. It's a simple setup with a couple of motion detectors and a door magnet. I'm usually the early bird disarming it in the morning lol.. Neat demo! Glad you're back!!

That intro was so well done! Moose systems are really cool, I knew someone with a Z900 at one point. I’ve seen similar types of briefcase kits with older 70’s systems (Ademco is the one I’ve seen the most). I’m hoping to eventually obtain a Moose system of some sort in the future.

Great video and system, quite interesting how the system bugs out when reporting but that goes for a lot of vintage systems, my FBII system will sometimes crash when disarming from an alarm

Good idea with the skit at the beginning & end there, especially considering it fits perfectly with the item being showcased in this video. I'm quite surprised that you managed to make it actually look like a 90s video: how you did so outside of filming it with an actual 90s-made camera I'll never know. I'm also somewhat surprised you know someone who owns a car from around that era too.
Something I couldn't help noticing right at the start of the actual showcase part is that the 270-SPO on the right side of the screen is activated: sure the panel it's hooked to is probably powered off which is why there's no alarm sounding but still rather odd if you ask me.
Odd if you ask me that Moose only put their "moose logo" & not also the word "MOOSE" below it ('cause you know, brand recognition is everything).
3:12 I assume there was also a version for commercial installations too.
4:09 Doesn't really make sense to me since what if you wanted to demonstrate trying to arm with a zone activated? (you'd have to hold the switch the entire time with one hand & operate the keypad with the other, which would likely get both annoying & tiresome after a while)
5:25 Jesus...sorry you had to deal with that.
7:15 All of the lines are adhesive/glue, right?
7:18 Any idea what it might have been?
7:21 Hey: as long as it works!
8:29 A special cable would be needed to interface those devices to those ports though, no?
8:49 That _has_ to be confusing sometimes (the way to use the keypad too).
9:05 Instead of the other way around like on supposedly most other systems?
10:20 Yeah: unnecessary complexity if you ask me (unless Moose was just trying to be original or unique but from a practicality standpoint it's just dumb. Speaking of arming is it possible to turn off & on both interior & delay while the system is armed? (probably not if I had to guess since that's normally not possible on most other systems).
10:35 What about the switch that supposedly also does the same on the side of the case though? (unless that allows the program key on the keypad to function to begin with)
10:41 "asterisk" is also labeled "STORE" & "pound" "FIND", which if I had to guess have to do with programming.
10:46 Only one? (since I believe a lot of security panels if not most have multiple controllable outputs)
11:19 Yeah: in the ensuing minute or two after you say that I am almost constantly confused as to what the keypad's doing or what it's trying to indicate, it is a _very_ strange system.
11:38 Wouldn't surprise me if that's confused people who have used the system.
12:22 Instant alarm upon activation of another zone? (which I guess would just make sense in most cases: you're also right about Moose muffling the siren so it's not super-loud: how they did so though I'll never know)
    13:17 What's it reporting there?
13:34 The average consumer wouldn't know that something isn't ready for arming until they tried to arm the system though, no? (thus meaning that most of them likely wouldn't do that sensor check first thing)
13:47 Why did it go back to that post-alarm state if you specifically ordered it to display the status of each zone?
14:04 That's an unusual tone I'd say...(espcially since it's not temporal 3, unless temporal 3 had yet to be adopted at the time that particular system was made)
14:06 _Auxiliary_ alarm? You mean to tell me that that panel doesn't even have a dedicated fire LED?
14:34 Might have to do with the low-frequency penetrating whatever's blocking the siren speaker more than the other tones which are higher in frequency.
14:39 That's _most_ systems though isn't it? (or at least from a certain point onward) Not really that remarkable.
15:25 Exactly my thoughts, very odd if you ask me (the 2nd reminds me of a Gentex GMS too, though the 3rd is positively weird).
    16:28 Sure thing, you too!
Thanks for continuing to educate us on these fascinating life safety systems: don't let the immature idiots keep you from doing what you enjoy! (or at least, I _hope_ you enjoy making these videos)
By the way, sorry for these super-long comments, but I want to make sure I cover everything so-to-speak.

The intro video was a lot of fun to make. My friend Mips owns that car, it's a 1992 Buick Century station wagon. He bought it used a couple years ago and it's honestly a pretty nice car. Very comfortable ride. As for the appearance, I exported it in 640x480 resolution then recorded it to a VHS tape using an HDMI to Composite adapter & an old Sony VCR. Then, I used a USB video capture device to record the tape playback and used that recording for the video. It pulled off the VHS look quite authentically; instead of using that majorly overused filter that looks fake af.
Replies in the order you listed the timecodes:
      1. Probably was. Not sure. It is possible they just had the one.
      2. I actually realize I messed up that description slightly. The middle position opens the zone, while the spring loaded position dead shorts the zone. The normal position shorts through an end of line resistor.
      3. It was awful. Smelled bad and the dust was NASTY, had to use a respirator >_>
      4. Yeah adhesive left inside
      5. I think it was a battery actually.
      6. Lol yes
      7. They're 6P6C phone jacks, just would need to modify a telephone cable. They were smart with the design in that pins 3&4 are not used in those two jacks so it won't break anything if you plug a phone line into one by accident (phone line uses pins 3&4)
      8. It is definitely an odd design; just meant to save LEDs I guess.
      9. Really depends on the system. Concord is command + code, where many others (including vistas) is code + command.
      10. They dropped that "toggle" design later with the LCD keypad and then the newer Z900 and Z700 panels that replaced this. As for your second question I believe you can turn those on and off while it's armed.
      11. I believe the switch is used to interrupt the panel's operations so you can get into programming in the event that it's stuck.
      12. Yeah, STORE and FIND are used with system programming.
      13. Really depends on the panel with what it has for outputs.
      14. Yeah it is strange how it just locks up while reporting. It needs all that CPU power to send tone bursts to the receiver I guess.
      15. Yeah the sliding door is a perimeter non-delay zone so that would cause an instant alarm regardless.
      16. ACC 100 OPENING ZN 1 means Account #100 reports Opening (Disarm) ZONE 1 - which is actually user code #1.. so basically it's saying User 1 disarmed the panel.
      17. The ready light goes out if the system isn't ready. 2+1234 is used to find out why it's not ready. The keypad had a bit of a learning curve as you can imagine.
      18. It times out after several seconds.
      19. Supposed to be a bell i guess
      20. yeah Auxiliary is used for all non-burglar alarms (Aux A, Aux B, Aux C)
      21. The speaker is directly pointed at the plastic, with a big open chamber behind it. Since the inside was originally filled with foam it is quite possible it used to be quieter.
      22. Yeah a lot of systems used * and # as panic keys, not as many used the others though.
      23. Sounds more SHG like to me tbh.
      24. Thanks for watching!

The ones with wireless keypads are ust battery packs with all fuctionality tied and used by the keypad on it own. (aka ademco 6128rf demonstration pad I have)
