2:33 I doubt Guardiola ever said that to Grealish. Then why does Doku take on players?
Jack has actually talked about this…PEP as a matter of fact did tell him to play this way…maybe not 100% of the time like jack is doing but jack is following instructions to the tea…he isn’t the 1st nor will he be the last that gets impacted this way…Henry himself talked about how he got subbed off after SCORING because he didn’t follow Pep’s positional style offense….
Jack has a wider range of skills (#10 like) than Doku so Pep uses them…however Doku is kinda like Robben..a specialist that’s quicker than Jack and it’s good at it so pep doesn’t try to change him much because that brings a X factor.
You know another manager than changed his players drastically?…
Xabi Alonso…he told his players to almost never play the long ball because statistically the long ball isn’t productive and it just isolates the player without any support…even though as a player Alonso himself was a Long ball passer…and so Bayer L. basically turned into Tiki Taka and what do you know…they won and made German history.
At Villa, Grealish played like a kid in the park who loved football. He had a lot of freedom, was loved by the fans, and knew he was the best player. I just don't think it's a good fit for him at City.
It's a bit cringe to me that people who watch football all day can't see the obvious - what he is asked to do at City is just too different than what he did at Villa. Evertyhing he was good at, is not being leveraged.
He's the most overrated winger in the game right now..All he ever does is pass sideways and backwards, dive, fight and shoot in 0.75 slow motion but somehow when English fans watches him they see Ronaldinho with a hair band and oil gallon calves
Take away the name, the hype, the passport, and the social media and just objectively watch Grealish. He is literally even more predictable than Antony at United. All Grealish does is this bunny hop on his left leg before he inevitably shifts the ball back onto his right foot and passes sideways or backwards. He literally does that all game long on repeat. That’s it. And if he actually does go to his left he inevitably drags his feet, tries to initiate contact, and dives because he doesn’t actually have the pace to beat a defender. He’s so incredibly predictable.
That description reminds me of Diaz at FSG Liverpool. Except Diaz does a lot more running and makes a lot more effort for the same result. No end product.
@@_A7XGrealish looks like he's used to bunny-hopping. My man is redefining the way the game is played as we speak. It's revolutionary.
Grealish top 5 hobbies
1. Backpass sidepass
2. Diving
3. Celebrate with the true winners
4. Drink hella alcohol
5. Backpass sidepass again 😂
You forgot check hair every 5 seconds and look at calf’s for the rest of the game.
Do people think Jack was bought for the purpose of skinning full backs ?
Pep - in my opinion - bought Jack because of his ability to virtually never lose the ball. Jacks play in the city system is to draw defenders into his space and free up space in the middle for De Bruyne, Rodri etc to push up and then switch play or deliver a forward pass.
Also, defenders have to double up on him because if you leave him alone, he WILL punish you. He showed time and again his play - when he is top form - to make man city extremely hard to press against. He invites you in, opens up the defence by displacing the full back from his back line, and allows for man city to press much higher up.
Is Jack the best in the world in that position? No. But hes very good at it.
I think pep expected a bit more than that and he hinted at that multiple times last season. 3 goals isn’t acceptable for a winger in a team that scores over 100 goals. He’s gonna struggle to be a regular this season. Pep has clearly started showing preference for doku’s dynamism and his 1 v 1 abilities
Exactly ....people expect him to be Ronaldinho playing with the coach who got rid of Ronaldinho
Can't lose the ball if you're not taking players on, eh?🤣🤣
--- This Manchester City Pep cult fanatic's dissertation ☝️

Yall hate on supeer Jack he affects the tempo of the game and work rate was key in our treble season only last season he was affected by injuries
For how much he cost ,I honestly cannot remember a thing he did for city beyond celebrating trophies he had nothing to do with winning!
Next season is a make or break season for Jack Grealish at Manchester City. Has he been great, no, has he been bad, no, the problem is that he has come nowhere near justifying his 100 million transfer fee. He hasn’t flopped, from a player who has a lot of ability, there are people who expect more from him. There’s an argument to be made that Pep Guardiola’s robotic system has taken away the individual creativity and freedom from his game and we can see that he doesn’t impact games at the same rate in which he did during his time at Aston Villa. He was a pivotal player for Manchester City when they won the treble in the 2022-23 season and I was impressed by his performances and how he was able to play a key role in helping the team win 3 trophies, last season was more complicated for him as he struggled for fitness and form, he found his game time limited spent as much time on the bench than on the pitch and for someone to being one of the most expensive players in the world to getting dropped by your national team in a span of 3 years says it all about where he is in his career.
It was a surprise to many people that Grealish was left out of the England squad for the EUROs and some believe that it was a mistake while others believed that it was the right call, all I know is that next season, if he doesn’t perform or doesn’t play, he needs to leave and they have to get rid of him. He seems to be more known for his vibes off the pitch and his celebrations during parades whenever his team wins a trophy rather than what he does on the pitch. Stats shouldn’t be the only thing we look at to judge players since they offer more than just goals and assists, but he’s an attacking player playing for the most stacked team in the premier league who cost them over 100 million and had just 3 goals and 3 assists in all competitions. Jeremy Doku at times was picked over him and with him 22 years old; he’s only going to get better from here and with the arrival of Savinho who is a right winger and can also play on the left wing, Grealish has a lot of work to do in order to win his place back because a player of his caliber shouldn’t be sitting on the bench because if that’s the case for him next season, he’s wasting his prime years at Manchester City.
these pundits sometimes say the stupidest things that can be easily corrected by very simple analysis/research. It has been incredibly obvious that grealish has changed his game becaue he is doing exactly what guardiola wants (control)
@@cityisblue2830Who does Pep play in the big games? In the games where control matters way more than directness?
Control does not mean you take your 1v1 Grealiash can't do that and don't tell me about control any player can control and protect the ball
@@neo_jr1179Grealish will struggle to be regular. Whenever city needed a goal with both doku and jack on the bench, pep always put doku on. I think at some point next season it will become very obvious that doku is the first choice not jack.
Jacks control is good if KDB and Haaland are firing on all cylinders. If they aren’t, jack isn’t enough of an attacking threat and that’s why pep consistently picked doku when city needed a goal
Shaka can talk without talking @ de same time l...still love Shaka 😂😂
lol fr he doesn’t say anything of substance. He just talks in circles.
Pep's Style of managing killed individual brilliance ‼️ Messi and Ronaldo are gonna be the GOAT' until this style is out of fashion. No player will surpass them, playing in this system🤞
Peps slow pace passing is outdated. He cannot positioned his players to counter attack in split seconds. He gives enough time for opponents defenders to settle and get back in line. Meanwhile spanish national team and real madrid is playing the opposite ,which is the new style of play at the moment. When city move forward every player move upwards making themselves difficult to defend when they loose possesion.
At City, espeically recently, Pep wants him to stay on the ball as the play develops around him, especially in deep block settings. Its by design not a weakness.
I wonder how people who are supposed to be professionals can’t see this, it’s shameful
Grealish's role at MC is primarily the antagonist to an opposing undisciplined defense who will give up set pieces - he may have been a primary striker while at AV, but MC have that covered. His talents are psychological in this offense...
For 100m? Make it make sense.
You could have gotten any average player and tell them to do that
Guardiola has coached out mavericks and individualism. He has made football boring!

Good on the ball. In reality he provides very very little, all passes go back or sideways
I never thought he was a good fit at City.
He has won trophies. He knows the feel. Good.
Now he has to be front and central to a team, that will bring his swag back
Grealish, Rice, Gallagher, Maguire, etc., all way overhyped, why England has the most expensive players but never won a trophy. The key is Guardiola, not City or players.
When he parted and celebrated treble for a week on the street , he' s gone out of favor with Pep.
Same happened to Ronaldinho
In the treble season grealish played every game for guardiola
ABSOLUTE FOOLS ON THE PANEL
There is a reason why they arent managers
Grealish is the ball carrier for the team
He doesn’t impact games with goals and assists that’s not his job at City from day 1
This criticism of Grealish is laughable, even after time out with an injury he played over 30 games for the best team in the world. How many games would Rice or Mainoo have played for city last season ?
I’m no fan of Man Utd but it’s strange you’re comparing a 19 year old who only made his debut last season to Grealish.
Hilarious how these guys don’t understand pep ball at all 🤣🤣🤣
Leave Erling alone. He enjoys what he does and people are obsessed with Strikers coming short. Strikers need to score goals and that's what Erling does
Pep coached him to be like this. It’s like when Mourinho made Joe Cole a run of the mill player
Do these guys not realise that teams sit back against City so he has no space to run into.
Frank has it right. It's the same problem for Erling. He is now a target man, mainly waiting to receive the ball in order to hold up the play. He needs to run more, use his speed as he has done over the years. Stewart, with his usual narrow vision, only focuses on the players, without any consideration for the system they are expected to work with. Jack often gets the ball wide and in tight spaces but he locks the defender and draws a lot of fouls and free kicks. City's focus on ball possession above anything else helped them win the PL, but it also means that games are usually tight, giving the opposition a chance to still be in the game. They need to be more agressive and get the ball more into the box.
People heavily criticise Sterling, but he wasn't technically as good as Grealish, but he had way more contribution to games than Grealish. Sterling's problem was towards the end of his Man City career, was that he kept losing the ball and moves were breaking down when he was on the ball. He just couldn't beat a player and would inevitably lose the ball. This drove Pep crazy as his team is very vulnerable to counter attacks. Mahrez was way better than Grealish. He could beat players, stretch play score. If Sterling played like Mahrez he would still be at Man City
The only thing you can count on from Jack Grealish is drink & failing to beat his man, then sending in a sht cross
He was a good player but he was also a fashion signing.
Yeah, he got signed on the back of the Euro's. He was popular with the fans and Man City wanted to tap into his fanbase
That's why city is winning
People blaming pep and his systen forget that Messi used to play under pep, and doku right now. Doku is still taking risk and getting past people.
Grealish plays like miggy almiron now. Turn round and pass back.. a fullbacks dream
He just needs to go to a club where he's the main man.
He's achieved everything at city he doesn't need to play for trophies anymore he should move to a club where he can play for fun.
Grealish has had more beers than goals/assist since joining man city smh
He’s never a Man City player, but would be really good for a spurs or back at villa.
Grealish is a midfielder who GUARDIOLA wanted at left wing for his quality of ball retention and passing.
Gazza lite....Half as good at a party and half as good on the pitch.
he does, doku is just much better at it thats why grealish is on the bench. Grealish is just an average player. what he does, leon bailey, savio, leao, garnacho, vini, rodrygo, yamal, mbappe, nico, sane, musiala, salah, and doku and many other wingers can all do better
Freedom to be the player he is not suck to doing a job. Hes free flowing player. Thats why.
Grealish and Antony i see no difference, but Antony is criticized 10 times more.
ESPN turnning on haland is bizarre because if i remember correctly they are the same people who said it doesn't matter if you touch the ball two times as far as the touch was a goal.
Today they are in different level.
Haaland has 38 goals and 6 assists last season. And yet no where near the Ballon d'or conversation 😂
Haaland will never win the ballon dor at Man City. That ship has sailed
It's ridiculous and pathetic how very little recognition he gets for his efforts. And yet, the number of goals and assists was all the hype that made Ronaldo and Messi so dominant in the Ballon d'or. He's very clearly the best foward in the game and far outperforms previous winners in terms of numbers. Ballon d'or is a joke of a competition.
@@refigee8752Messi and Ronaldo doesn’t touch the ball 5 times in a whole match bro 😂
@majestyjnr7843 isn't that what makes Haaland so impressive though. He needs less touches to score the same amount of goals. Literally makes him a more reliable foward.
Pep's teams elevate midfielders and minimise forwards, they were scoring even before he arrived. Even the UCL they won was not by his goals. I feel genuinely bad for him
Same thing in first season.. just de bruyne injury no other winger or midfielder passing to him consistently
I felt he was suited to a different club at the time of transfer. Still plenty of opportunity ahead
I somewhat don't agree with Frank, because Doku seems to have a license to dribble and take on players. So I don't know why Pep would limit Jack to retaining the ball more
Grealish and Phillips both had their careers derailed by moving to City. I understand the appeal - loads of cash, and titles, but it's stunted their development.
Grealish would have shined at man utd

Finally someone who tells the truth about Grealish.
jeremy doku was taking on players the whole season. I don't understand why grealish isn't getting the same hate antony is getting
Doku is far more effective, and a big headache for the opposition whenever he comes on the pitch.
This conversation around Haaland is getting ridiculous. And it’s a travesty he’s not in Ballon D’Or convos
They said it there . Far better player when he has space in front of him . City dominate ball .
In hindsight, even pep would agree that man city should never have signed Grealish.. and in the future, it's a lesson for man city and pep to never invest in overrated english players..
Big money change Jack 💯
He is just a role player
I literally just watched the highlights grealish gave three perfect final passes in the first half of the video alone. What is Robbo talking about it’s not his fault his teammates couldn’t finish. And I hate city and pep.
Ok Robbo pop off!

Grealish was more central at Villa, his problem has nothing to do with Pep but his inability to beat a defender on the outside, he is always going inside

He doesn't do anything better than the players in the same position at City. He should move to a place where he can play in the 10 role freely

Never rated Jack and didn't want City to sign him. Been a major let down. I do feel he's a central attacking midfielder though. It feels like he's scared or Pep has instructed him not to lose the ball. If that is the case I hope he's not going to do the same with Savinho because he'd become boring. Still miss and would take back Sane in a heart beat. We've been linked with Eze, why I have no idea. Really hope that's just paper talk. Only winger we should be buying is Kvaratskhelia. Sell Grealish.
I agree, Grealish slows the game down, dribbles slow, always lookin for fouls. Whereas Doku is way more affective with his quick gameplay, and quick pass and move. Personally i think he does not suit Peps system.
Sterling >> Grealish
The trolls are out on this one. I don't even know where to start.
I never understood his transfer to city. He’s a very good player and quite underrated but he never fitted a Pep team. It made no sense. City wasting 100mil doesn’t get talked about enough. Grealish would do well to leave and find himself again with a club that fits his play style
Man City wanted to tap into his fanbase. He was really popular during the Euros
People should stop this bs about Grealish..Till this day Grealish only had 2 more goals at Villa than he has with City...
3:20 lol why do people want numbers 9’s to be Messi? Hes never gonna impact the game other than scoring goals and he doesn’t need to with the quality of players around him, that’s not his job just like it’s not Bernardo’s job to jump over a center back and win a header
Side pass, back pass, dive 100 million player.
Grealish was never a City type player.
It looks to me that Pep has turned Grealish into a half assed wingback whos job is to stop the ball going out of play on the left side and recycle it sideways into the middle or back. He was never a speed merchant and seems to have lost confidence in his ability to go past an opponent. It might also be that he needs to put his head down and work and give the bright lights a miss..
NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GREALISH AND ANTHONY, FACT IS ANTHONY EVEN TRIES TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN WHILE GREALISH PLAYS SAFE. THE TRANSFER HASN'T WORKED.
Was Haaland not the top scorer in the Premier League?
Nonsense. No body tells him.not to take on players. Wingers are flying and he rides a bicycle
29 goals in 185 appearances at villa. He was always an overrated diving merchant brought in to try fix the emptihad situation.😂
Frank keep on cutting people when they talking ,
He gotta stop.
He reminds me of Eden Hazard, this types of players are not good in a system only if they are the focal point do you get the best
Best let Pep know Robbo, maybe then City will win something.
He does the job he is asked. HE IS NOT ASKED TO BE THE GUY HE WAS AT VILLA. Tired of this old conversation. More ESPN clown talk
That’s where Savio comes in. He’s great in one on one and would score double digits and possibly double digits in assists. Just like Grealish, we are gonna be seeing more of the English overrated players soon, it’s a norm in England 😂
Jack wasn’t talented enough below average dude. The $100M price tag is way higher for his below average talent
Leave him alone. He's got a massive bag of Gulf money. Job done. 😂
I am with robo, the blame is on jack, he has not done enough and it is not because the manager is telling him to slow the game down or not to dribble, he has lost it a bit and has to get seriously fit and sharp and give it ago
Another English player who started to believe his own hype and decided to leverage it at the expense of his job.
People heavily criticise Sterling but at least when he was at Man City in that 2017-19 team, him and Sane used to regularly run at defenders and create chances causing havoc for the opposition. That 100 point team with those two on the wings was in my opinion the most entertaining Pep team I've seen in my life. Going from them to Grealish who just does sideways and backwards passes is insane
If Sterling finished better he would’ve been world class in his prime. His contribution is still remarkable but couldve been even better.
As a united fan, i would take prime sterling rather than prime grelish any day
Them on the wings, David Silva and Kdb, a burgeoning Bernardo. Different gravy
