Me and a couple of buds saw him at the local race track in 1997 at an intermission of a motorcycle racing event. At the time, he was the only one doing this - a real pioneer. It was jaw dropping - people couldn't believe that this could be done on a street bike - just out of this world. I can remember one spectator yelling "who the F IS this guy . . .???" Everyone cracked up laughing because it was just so over the top. Afterwards the racing commenced and we forgot all about that and went over to the pits to find him. There were people milling around and he would talk to anyone. We spent a good 20 minutes or so talking with him - really personable - great guy. And funny as hell too. You could tell from his grin that he really was having a good time with it. His GF or maybe wife, not sure which was there and did the 2 up stunts with him. There's nothing like it today. I'm glad to hear that he's still doing well.
Had this on VHS back in the day, spoke to Gary many times, long before he was famous, we had a mutual friend & grew up in same neighbourhood, an earlier friend from high school made aware of Gary in the late 80's when Gary would go practicing with his bike on a place known as 'The Piggeries'

I remember seeing him in Ireland at Mondello Park years ago.I think he had a fluorescent orange Bandit at the time.Big massive power wheelies,he was very good at them….seemed like a really sound lad.
We had the opportunity to speak to Gary and Lady Rothwell at a show... definitely laid-back, nice folks... and what a talented rider -- we went home and did some really stupid things on our bikes trying to emulate him... lol

He took my youngest lad up the street on his bike, he was 3 at the time. he's 31 now and still talks about it.
