You can make amethyst darts probably due to the fact that the quest unlocks the ability to 'smith' dart tips, thus probably making a check for metal tips, but not gem as you craft them

You can fletch any darts without tourist trap, you just can't smith any of them. So you can fletch rune darts if you get the tips from vorkath, crystal imps, or huey.
Addy dart tips can be obtained through the sea snakes as well.
No dart tips mith or lower can be obtained other than by smithing though.

Fantastic episode! And thanks for the shoutout! As someone who's also done the amethyst crafting and fletching tasks, congrats on completing them!
I'm surprised you did your crafting grind wearing your heavy prospector armor and rune pickaxe 👀. Also, I think the reason you can make amethyst darts and not the others is because you *craft* the amethyst dart tips, while you *smith* the others. Still doesn't make sense from the lore perspective of the Bedabin nomad technology being limited to them, but oh well.
