As you said, I don't know that heliocentrism required sacrifices historically. But I also love this story, and I feel like it's a kind of metaphor. There is a history in the world where secret police demanded sacrifices over trivial matters, and they may still exist somewhere today. I feel like this story taught me what it means to fight for freedom and beliefs through a fictional country in the 15th century. Anyway, thanks for the video!

And Copernicus was a very popular figure in the church so no one even dared to speak badly abt him lol I have 0 problem with this story, hell i like it myself, but i wish ppl wouldnt believe its actually historically accurate.

I am surprised to learn that it is controversial overseas. I have never seen such an opinion in Japan. There is not a single Japanese who dislike Christianity in this work. Because what they believe in is "C," not Christianity. I don't know what's going on with foreign translations, but in the original book it's treated as a fictional religion. Since I am Japanese, English is translated. I'm sorry if it's weird. The main character of this work is "theory of geomotorism" itself. I hope foreigners will enjoy it.

This is based of a a historical event in history where the Catholic Church suppressed heliocentric ideas to maintain order and uniformity in society.

Galileo was tried by the inquision two times, but not directly for heliocentrism. Many other scholars argued for it and they were free to do so. Johannes Kepler was a contemporary of Galileo and did groundbreaking research in astronomy as well. And he was a protestant, how heretical! How exactly was heliocentrism relevant to the societal order anyway?

I meant as a foundation they are trying to base it in history, not that it is historically accurate. When I said they suppressed heliocentric ideas they most definitely tried to as they did trial him for heliocentrism In 1633. This show doesn’t show the sympathisers towards him or make it clear that he wasn’t burned for the ideas which is why I agree that it’s not historically accurate. Rather it’s historically grounded and tells its own story around that historical framework
I didn't know the story aside from reading it was about proving the solar system is heliocentric. I thought Rafal was going to be the main character throughout the series. In fact I thought he was going to get caught eventually and be tortured and end up being the blonde man in the opening with the eye patch and scars on his face.
I like how this anime is doing something unique compared to anything else that came out recently. I hope that this episode will increase the popularity of this anime.
The first three episodes probably could have been a movie just on their own and I would probably be satisfied with just that, but we got 22 more episodes to go. I seriously can’t wait.

Like i would love this format but its f*ing infuriating to listen to half a line from anime and then listen to you say just" daaaaaamnnnn" while you keep pausing. Fyi i watched this episode and know whats gonna happen and im still like is this person just being annoying just because??? Let the scene pass or give a summary and then give reaction.
The vibe of this show remind me of Attack of Titan mid season, minus the titan of course. But more of that... -Spoiler- ... can't belive we got Hoshino'ed again.
It's not really popular here, but it is in Japan, which is what really matters. And even though there aren't that many reactions, people can still see it.
The main thing that pushes popularity is marketing or just being a Jump title. This has neither going for it so it wont gain popularity unless by word of mouth.
Other seasonal anime took the attention and hype. I only found out about the show from a random Facebook post showing a quick summary and the poster. Just with that I went in blind and did not regret it at all.

Easy no fancy power system and cool fights lol. Mainstream anime fans don't watch stuff like this.

I'm pretty sure the religious people portrayed in this anime are supposed to be Catholics not Christians, there is a difference.
