Ever wondered why kinetic sand sticks together but doesn’t create a sticky mess?
It has to do with the polymer coating on the surface of the sand. This coating is hydrophobic, which helps the sand stay soft, dry, and non-sticky. Additionally, there is a slight attraction between the polymers, allowing the sand to be easily molded into shapes, but the attraction isn't strong enough, so it easily falls apart.
