I completely agree about the voice descriptions. Michael has a soothing voice and Cory's voice is more animated. Both are fun to listen to but definitely different.
Logan for MVP of this VLOG. I really wish that from about Chipotle #80 on, you would always carry a sack with a few to-go bags worth to keep with you just in case you can't find an actual Chipotle when needed.
Ah, yes, the voice of Michael Aranda... One of the most effective ways to happily make me relaxed and capable of sleep. I realize that makes it sound like I think you're so boring that you put me to sleep, but it's not that at all. As someone who regularly has to take Advil pm and/or melatonin, something that relaxes me as naturally as possible is awesome. It's a soothing voice, really. A voice of calm and a voice of comfort. So, thanks for that, Michael!
I always listen to people talking while I go to sleep, and one of my go-to sleep soundtracks is to just put this entire channel on shuffle... You do have a very soothing voice Michael!
They immediately started the video with "We have 7 hours to get to Nashville." and I had a flashback to the Papertowns road trip where they each have a job to do when they stop and can only be stopped for a few minutes in order to make it to New York on time.
I have only been to Steak and Shake 3 times in my life but I absolutely love it. That being said I believe it's a midwestern establishment but the closest one to me is about 5 hours away. So that's sad.
There we go Michael, that's how you get your passion to filter into those around you... change your voice ;P Also ooooo I appreciate the bokeh upgrade & dem zoomed in shots are so reminiscent of oldschool Aranda, I love it!
Gotta love Marriott, there in your time of need. Also, how could there be an event involving Olan Rogers and there be hardly any video including him!?!
I've occasionally gotten my friends-who-do-not-watch-youtube-regularly to watch youtube vlogs whilst hanging out with me, did not think in a million years that they would get hooked on and subscribe on their own. So I was really surprised when one of them actually took the initiative to voluntarily watch these "WhatImdoingRightNow" videos while she was studying for exams because she claims that your voice is very soothing to hear in the background. Michael...ever thought of making a podcast? =P
Toll roads and bridges in the states work that way (I don't know when you are from), though they also have EZPass lanes where you have a transponder that "pays" for you and you don't have to stop.
+LauraEchelonia Only some states really have them. They're pretty prevalent on the east coast, and have started to gain some traction on the west coast. I live in Arizona, and we don't have a single toll road that I can think of (and I've driven to almost every major city in Arizona I can think of). Although that is likely to change at some point, because many states are struggling to maintain their roads with the budgets given to them. Most states pay for road maintenance through a gas tax, but many states taxes haven't been updated for decades. This means that with increased fuel efficiency, states are seeing more drivers/miles driven on the roads; with no increase in the amount of tax being collected. That's making pay roads look a lot more promising to some states that have been slow to implement them. With incredibly poor public transport in the US, we're really going to face a huge dilemma soon on how we're going to maintain the insane amount of roads we have in America. The answer will probably be a mixture of increased gas taxes, and more pay/toll roads. If/when electric vehicles become more ubiquitous, I would imagine most countries (including Europe) will have to identify how they will pay for road maintenance without the revenue from gas taxes. I personally hate the idea of having to pay toll road fees, but I think they'll be an inevitability within the next 20+ years.
+LauraEchelonia I just looked it up, and a fuel efficient hybrid is likely to spend up to $9,000 dollars less over it's lifetime vs. a standard car (in gas). Arizona's gas tax is 18 cents a gallon. So if we do the math, saying that the average gallon in AZ is $2.50 (it's not. It's closer to $2.00 right now. Yay plummeting oil prices!), we see that the average fuel efficient hybrid is buying almost 3,500 gallons less of gas over it's lifetime (this sounds really, really high for some reason to me, but I can't see where I messed up, so we'll go with it). At .18 cents a gallon, that's about $650 less per fuel efficient hybrid on the road. That's not a whole lot (although if you multiply that by the thousands of hybrids, it does add up quickly), but if we do the same math using Pennsylvania's much higher gas tax of .41 cents a gallon, you get about $1,500 dollars less in gas tax revenue per hybrid. Sorry if this makes no sense! I'm sick, and am sitting up doing math at 6 in the morning :p
Brennan Hays we don't have road toll yet, here in Germany, but most of the surrounding countries do. There's also a big debate about introducing it to the highways, especially because of the many trucks that cross the country for logistical reaosons. I think for most citizens that would be handled via the vehicle tax or smth, but tbh it's not one of the political issues i'm the most invested in even though i do have a license (but i don't drive much). don't be sorry, this was really interesting to read :D
After having to listen to my own voice doing several hours of interviews, I can honestly say it doesn't actually take that long to get used to. I went from "meh, weird" to "works as a means of communication" fairly quickly. But then that's how I have learned to view myself, so that I can live with myself :P (functional is good enough)
+Paula den Ouden Ive noticed after i got snaphat, which repeats a video until you post it, has gotten me kind of used to the sound of my voice. Now i need to work on my laugh lol.
Not sure why this piqued (peaked?) my interest, but when Corey said "dont worry about the change" at the toll booth, who does that money go to? Does the toll guy get to keep it himself, like a tip? Does it just go to the toll company?
+Abby Andino Piqued, and I wondered about that, too. In convenience stores, you'll see the "take a penny, leave a penny" where spare change will go, but a toll booth is a very different sort of thing.
+Abby Andino I'm guessing it just goes to the toll company. At most places that don't have a tipping service for their workers, any extra change is still the companies. I worked at a movie theatre, and we were never allowed to keep any extra money given to us, even if the person said "keep the tip". I didn't really care until one day a regular that was moving out of state gave our manager $30 bucks to split with all of us as a thank you, and he promptly ignored our beseeching eyes and shoved it in a till.
ThoughtSP95 I figured it was more more a matter of he doesn't have much of a use for US coins, since he'd just end up needing to lug them around and convert them back to Canadian money when he got home...and they were kind of in a hurry.
Mazal tov Logan! Also, Michael, why are you creeping on him at the Steak n' Shake? His an engaged man! Though he did edit it... Also, isn't the bokeh a factor of the lens? Like if you had a few lenses they might have different shapes? I actually like hexagonal bokeh.
Hold on for a hot second! You need tires specifically for winter?! What have I been doing with my life? Why has this fact never been brought to my attention before? What do you do with the non-winter tires then? Just have them laying around?
+Savannah yup, you do. winter tires have better treads so you don't slide around as much. i don't know why no one ever told you, maybe you don't live in a place with snow? i think most people keep their spare set in their garage when they're not using them, they don't take up that much room when stacked. also it's illegal to have winter tires during the summer (at least in America) because it wears down the roads faster. some people do just use the summer ones year round, but it's kinda dangerous. hope this answers your questions :)
+Peter Rabitt I should have stated that I was first to comment on this video: th-cam.com/video/CZcv0hwAJqA/w-d-xo.html that would be more accurate. So I am first to comment on this video linked in this comment. We both need some sleep, Mr. Rabitt.
I would definitely enjoy listening to a sleeping meditation style thing recited by Michael Aranda.
Yes please
+Samantha April New patreon perk idea?
And CONGRATS LOGAN
+Maddi Page Yes, indeed! Congratulations, Logan!
I completely agree about the voice descriptions. Michael has a soothing voice and Cory's voice is more animated. Both are fun to listen to but definitely different.
Michael's voice was what hoocked me, I remember watching him on SciShow and thinking "Yeah guy with the nice voice! Talk to me about science!!"
Logan for MVP of this VLOG. I really wish that from about Chipotle #80 on, you would always carry a sack with a few to-go bags worth to keep with you just in case you can't find an actual Chipotle when needed.
LOGAN AND BROOKE ARE ENGAAAAAGGGEEEDDDD AAAAAHHHHHH SO EXCITINGGGG!!!! Congrats you two!
logan is kind of awesome
agreed!
Funny enough, if you go to one of the first SciShow videos that Michael was on, one of the top comments was, "I could listen to that voice all day."
More like DIScomfort Inn!
A wild Logan appears! Congrats on the engagement.
Dat music though.
+mylifesoundtrack Right?! It's so soothing...I have a feeling it could put me to sleep, which is a good thing :)
***** :P
Thank you, Mike Chaput; Alicia Sprinkles; and Mariel.
Thanks, Mike Chaput!
Thanks, Alicia Sprinkles!
Thanks, Mariel!
The Michael Corey bromance continues 😆 So cool that opposites get on so well. Like my mate Angela n I - friends for 20+yrs 😆😃😊
Ah, yes, the voice of Michael Aranda... One of the most effective ways to happily make me relaxed and capable of sleep. So, thanks for that, Michael!
Michael would be great at ASMR videos. Even Hank did a good job in the Sci-show video about it.
Cory's voice is like an energy drink (but one that actually tastes good) and Michael's voice is like a nice warm cup of tea.
I always listen to people talking while I go to sleep, and one of my go-to sleep soundtracks is to just put this entire channel on shuffle... You do have a very soothing voice Michael!
So many travel vlogs! This pleases me.
Corey's winter tire mini happy dance
Congratulations Logan and Brooke!
hahahahahaha I legitimately save your blogs for late at night when I'm trying to fall asleep. They're so peaceful I love it. Thanks for your voice.
+IcedReality me too! :D
Every time you go to Nashville it is so weird to see the movie theatres I go to, the streets I drive on etc. It makes the vlogs feel so close to home.
Did you get to meet him while he was there?
+Victor Yau Unfortunately, I was not able to attend that day.
also, LOGAN!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATS OH MY GOD
and third. This is such a life accomplishment for me.
+Peter Rabitt Actually is is about rabbits. Would you like to do an interview?
+Peter Rabitt So it's actually your name?
+Naiadryade I thought it was a joke too...
+Peter Rabitt strange or awesome?
***** That's actually pretty cool. Props to your parents for being bold. And props to you for going with it when choosing a user name!
Congrats Logan! and good job getting to Nashville guys!
They immediately started the video with "We have 7 hours to get to Nashville." and I had a flashback to the Papertowns road trip where they each have a job to do when they stop and can only be stopped for a few minutes in order to make it to New York on time.
Cory is a cool dude. I like that there is so much Cory in these vlogs.
I actually have one of your videos on one of the playlists I watch to go to sleep
Yay for Logan! Also I love the way you said "look what you did."
Totally agree with Yur voice analysis!!!
Loving that groin level camera shot
I have only been to Steak and Shake 3 times in my life but I absolutely love it. That being said I believe it's a midwestern establishment but the closest one to me is about 5 hours away. So that's sad.
Logan and Brooke warm my heart. Bunch of cutays!
Good montage music!
Corey Vidal: Man of Action
*cue 60s spy music*
Dem tunes doe
I have only two things to say, Coranda (I ship it) and the beautiful music during the driving montage/time lapse.
for a second there I wasn't sure if you shipped him with Corey or Corrado
NylahK Corey
Victor Yau yaas yaas I realised when I thought about it but I from the ship name ya can't actually tell...
NylahK yeah cause someone mentioned that alternate ship spelling name and decided to go with that one.
Oh wow me again? I feel like that was came back around pretty quickly...
+1 to Michael's voice!
I'm still upset I was sick when y'all came to Nashville. But seeing the area where I live on the vlog was a++
Because you mentioned the spherical bokeh I noticed a couple that were not completely spherical . . .
Thanks for talking to me as I fell asleep
I'm in this video for like one second! Also the bokeh is so good!
+KaeAnde Oh, and congratulations Logan!
A fellow Nashvillian?! I was there, too, but ducked out just after the movie.
Yep, I live in Nashville! And maybe he'll come another time and you can hang out! :)
The beginning kind of sounds like a paper towns road trip style dealio
Isn't "2 am business meeting" basically the excuse Alexander used on Eliza before he got shot in a duel?
It was so strange to see Indiana things in the daily vlog. Especially the windmills on the way back from Chicago.
There we go Michael, that's how you get your passion to filter into those around you... change your voice ;P
Also ooooo I appreciate the bokeh upgrade & dem zoomed in shots are so reminiscent of oldschool Aranda, I love it!
Is that sond of yours (playing in the stake'n'shake portion of this vlog) available for download or streaming?I love it so very much!
Those refineries remind me of Texas.
Look what you did, Logan. LOOK WHAT YOU DID.
Congrats on the thing :-)
wow that was close.
"show me the view¡¡¡¡¡"
YOU SHOULD HAVE KISSED RIGHT ON THE MOUTH
Congrats on the engagement, Logan! :-)
Aside from Michael's sweet voice, Logan is engaged now?!? OK, great for him!
Have you thought about making a mellow music ep of some sort? I feel like you would make an awesome study music ep or something :P
Gotta love Marriott, there in your time of need. Also, how could there be an event involving Olan Rogers and there be hardly any video including him!?!

Who did Corrado have a business meeting with at 2am??
So is his name really spelt like the VW Corrado?
+NylahK indeed it is. Corrado Coia
Twefrence That's fun! My family have owned two VW Corrados in our time lol
Was that a toll station at the highway?
CONGRATS LOGAN AWWWWW
Tbh the way Correy & Michael interact really reminds me of me and my best friend.

I imagine as vloggers you both have kinda gotten over that thing where everyone hates the sound of their own voice on video
After having to listen to my own voice doing several hours of interviews, I can honestly say it doesn't actually take that long to get used to. hahhaha, laughs are always a bit weird I think. If you really hate your own, compare it to Jimmy Carr's. You'll feel better :P
Not sure why this piqued (peaked?) my interest, but when Corey said "dont worry about the change" at the toll booth, who does that money go to? Does the toll guy get to keep it himself, like a tip? Does it just go to the toll company?

I'm thinking he maybe gave them a bunch of coins and apologized for their inconvenience
I'm pretty sure it just goes in the till.
+Abby Andino I'm guessing it just goes to the toll company. At most places that don't have a tipping service for their workers, any extra change is still the companies. First
+Peter Rabitt Congrats to us!
+DeejPrestige You beat me. Argh.
