    The stiffness matrix needs a negative sign before the sin^2 theta (column 2 row 4 and column 4 row 2)

    The reason we should encourage everyone to use a scientific calculator or excel for college students in exams is due to time and problem-solving. In the end, we all will be using the technology for work. Why not make it easier to understand than go complicate when maths can be fun.

    Hi TM, there seem to have a error in the stiffness matrix, there should be a negative sign for the value at Row4Column2 and Row2Column4 , please check, thanks.

    Hi, do you have an explanation of more complex structure with more elements please ?

    Hello Mr. TM
    Thank you a lot for the videos. I am a beginer to FEA in excel for truss problems, and the way you solve the global matrix using the vlookup helped me a lot since i was stuck there for a long time. How ever i am not stuck in at another point for a longer time. I would like to know if there is a way to create a formula for solving the global matrix but where you dont have paste the equation and edit the arays in it by hand. I am aware this yields for some VBA programing and im am cool with it. I would just want to know if there is some advice from your side regarding this problem.
    Regards!!

      Erdoan Musatfov Thanks for the comment. My apologies for the late reply. I had a connection problem.
      There should be a way to do this. I shall look into it, but I haven't yet tried to use VBA programming in any way. It would make the solving of the problem a lot faster... If you come up with a solution please let me know as well. Sorry if I'm not that much help :)

    sir can you please explain to me why you multiply that green matrix to find displacement . thank you

      Hi, thank you for the comment. The matrix equation is essentially a number of linear equations. By using that consideration, in order to find the unknown displacements, we must consider the equations with the unknowns u1 and v1 in them. In this case it is the first two rows/equations of the matrix expression. Furthermore, if the right vector is examined we can see that, apart from the first two entries, the rest of the rows are filled with zero values. Therefore we can neglect those parts of the equations as they are all zero values. This is highlighted as the pink part of the matrix. Then all that remains to find the displacements are the green part of the matrix equation, which is used to solve the F = K*d equation. Hope this helps :)

    Am I wrong, or this stiffness matrix is not symmetric? You should check these results and the equilibrium of the system. Getting a bunch of numbers is just the half of the work ;) peace!

      @TMsChannels  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes it seems I missed a minus in one of the [ke] entries. It doesn't affect the answer however as the wrong values are multiplied by 0, which may be why I didn't pick it up when checking equilibrium. Thanks for pointing it out, I updated the excel file at the link.

    hI, really great videos. i have a question. you use f4($) to fix $E$58 and $f$57, you have two elements, so it works, but if you have more elements if you keep fixing the both also, then the value 8400000 is repeated and dont count the other locals matrix. so for more elements its just fix $E58 and F$57. if any dude need it. again thank you so much. may be can you do this examples in macros, visual basic or matlab.

      do you know programming this in voyage or texas calculator?.. if you do, your videos will share around the world!!!

      Hi, thanks for your comment. Unfortunately I do not know how the voyage calculator works. Although I can show you how to do these examples in Matlab (way easier than Excel). I shall add it to my list of future videos :) Thanks for the suggestion.
