It was bradley put the name sublime in his name. He was the writer etc in the band and they tried to come back as strictly sublime so Brad's family was upset but it worked. Out. Notice how bud quit after the first album. I've grown to like them though
I totally agree. He's a great musician and singer songwriter. He pays homage to Bradley and never tries to be like him. Also, most people don't know that Eric Wilson reached out to Rome when he heard him playing.
@@Aerospacer77 they are super cool and humble dudes in person . Eric Wilson literally gave me the shirt he was wearing and signed it. Rome is an excellent performer that sings his heart out every show.
He can play, he can sing, he's great. They've gotten better as a band over the years. I'd rather bump some OG Sublime or Stick Figure or Matisyahu or Slightly Stoopid or Pepper or Perro Bravo or Dirty Heads, but they're good as well.
This deserves so many more views and thumbs up. I know he isn't Brad, but my god, without Rome we wouldn't be jamming to all these sick tunes and vibes. He even brings his own style in in their new SwR stuff and he is so talented. Thank you Sublime and thank you to Sublime with Rome.
They only have Sublime bass player. Its a dumb name and Long Beach Dub Allstars are the true extention of Sublime., but this group deserves props despite their stupid name.

Saw them live a few years ago and it’s one of my favorite concerts I’ve been to. If youre having your doubts about Rome,don’t. He’s a great performer and is a great successor to Bradley
Rome is the perfect person to carry Bradley's tunes into the future and while he's there make a few new ones like he was supposed to. Rome rock.

It’s June 2022 and here I am a few weeks past CaliRoots 2022 and Sublime w/ Rome’s debut performance at the festival…and I have to say that I’ve made a 180 turn on Rome and have a newfound respect for him and what he brings to this version of the band.
I hated on him for a long time, longer than I care to admit…but it couldn’t have been easy to come in and sing Bradley’s songs for Bradley’s fans. If he’s good enough for Eric & Bud he’s just fine by me…and he’s a solid musician when it comes down to it.
The first time I saw Rome w/ Sublime I was so far back up on the lawn seats I couldn’t see what he looked liked. I didn’t care.. he sounded amazing and he wasn’t a prima donna trying to steal the show. From then on been a big fan.

I'll give Rome props here, he can really play the guitar and his voice is good. I think he should have played a few more of his own songs like Panic and possibly Dedication. I sometimes wonder if he was even alive on April 29, 1992 though ;). And some of these songs are covers of covers (Smoke Two Joints, Scarlet Begonias). Rome, I liked the newest album. It was very good, you really have come into your own and now you're more your own person instead of living in Bradley's shadow. You'll never be Bradley, but I respect your musical talent and you might even be worth seeing in concert some day.
You might want to get in better shape though. You seem out of breath at times. And you seem bigger than the last time I saw you. I see Eric looks exactly like he did 25 years ago, maybe a tad older. For the people reading this comment, check out Perro Bravo, a band headed up by Michael "Miguel" Happoldt, a key member of the original Sublime. He played that guitar riff on What I Got and has two albums and an EP out and they're quite good.

Yes, you can say that the bloke will never never come upto Brandon but he has never said that he can or will so what the fuck!! He just does a great job whatever size he is. Take a lesson in humility bro, chill out and simply enjoy the fact that “ sublime” are still performing and we’re all here enjoying their shit so don’t need your negative comments. Just be happy that the band are still around playing awesome music.

Great band. I've seen them twice and always a great show. Once with Bud the original drummer and once with Josh Freeze, another amazing drummer. I saw Long Beach Dub All Stars twice and Long Beach Shortbus once. LBDA sounded horrible with RAS1. Shortbus was decent with drummer Damian Ramirez. I know my shit. Lol

Josh Freece is fantastic. You could plug him into pretty much any band and have a hard time distinguishing him from their regular drummer. The guy is totally dynamic and powerful.

I don't mind them playing Sublime's music, but they know what they're doing using the name to cash in. Sublime was Bradley. Bud knows that, that's why he stated he couldn't keep playing under that banner in good faith. The sad thing is that Eric and Rome know that as well. If they had any respect for the legacy, they would drop the Sublime moniker and create a new name.
