As a seamstress, I have to say that sewing the outfit that shedded would have been a health nightmare. The sewing would have been done on industrial machines that cut excess seam allowance at it sews. Very dangerous.

I think majority of the issue with naming her brand Kimono, was mostly that she wanted to copyright/trademark it and she actually tried to copyright/trademark it. Which is a huge issue, since it's such a huge part of japnese culture and history. Yes it was in some part also culture apropriation, but i think the biggest issue is that she tried to copyright/trademark it 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

Since Kimono is in another language, it may be difficult to realize just how ridiculous it sounds aside from the cultural appropriation. Cause a lot of brands have "foreign" names so a lot of people are just used to it and arent AS weirded out .

Idk if this is me with a tin foil hat, but I’m convinced that the kimono/skims controversy was all a scam in order to drum up publicity. I believe that if company is truly sustainable, they’ll be proud of it and show it to their customers. Never believe statements that have no proof to back up. When brands just write very vaguely like “we do all we can and following the law” - it doesn’t say sustainable to me. Laws are truly horrible, especially for companies that make their garments outside of US.
It’s the same as one jewelry brand I was really interested in, they had these very beautiful descriptions of conflict-free diamonds, which sounds nice and all, but as soon as I asked them if they can provide certificate or proof of no child labor/poor worker conditions, they at first said they will try to ask for it, but then weren’t able to do so all of the sudden, trying to guilt me into believing “we wouldn’t do these bad thing.. we do believe in good ethics”. No action is action as well.
Lucy and Yak is a really good example of showing sustainability and showcase who their employees are even those sewing the garments

@Anatolia I think they mean more that the company doesn't pay workers right, so if the prices are high, then the pay is going all to the company, you are overpaying for a garment that isn't even sustainable, and it's no better than buying something from shein. As for the quality, imo, it's not that good, you can get better garments custom made on etsy for cheaper and better from local artists/seamstresses.
Just because it's popular, doesn't mean it's good and justifies the mark-up from the brand name alone, I mean just look at the kylie swim disaster.

The outfit with the gloves was making me anxious about all the microplastics that it must produce as you wash it, if it sheds that much when you're just wearing it!!
Depends on what material is that fiber, maybe it’s not polyester. Seeing how delicate it is I also think it may be hand wash/chemical wash only. If it sheds like that I feel it wouldn’t last a normal wash cycle.
@@wellhello1603 True, that makes sense, I guess i just assumed that it would be a plastic of some sort because of the fuzzy fur-like nature and so I thought it couldn't be a natural fiber as it can't be actual fur... though I should research more into natural fiber furs that are not actual fur as I don't know enough on that subject.

Skims has some of the most comfortable plus size underwear I've found in two decades.
I bought skims reluctantly as I needed shapewear right at the last minute & they were v accessible at the time I needed them. Have to say I was really pleasantly surprised. The shapewear is comfy (as comfy as shapewear can be) and also really flattering. My only qualm with the brand is that it's a lil expensive. But if you want shapewear that is tolerable to wear & does the job, it's great imo

I think it's because they are made to look good on bodies most people just don't naturally have. If we all had Kim type bodies it would probably look a little better. I say a little because I still feel it is badly made cheap fabric.
@@ameisweirdx I think that is actually nice, at least to me. I myself dislike my huge butt so I'd love myself a shapewear that tones it down a bit. I actually kind of like how that shapewear body sits on Naomi (and possibly how it'd fit on me)
But the rest was totally meh and unflattering. I think what's flattering a bit was that long dress but for 100 Euros it is definitely not worth it. Yes it looked comfy and stretchy but I'd think twice about buying such a simple dress even for half the price.
I'm sorry but it was already obvious from the pictures on the website that some outfits would look weird. I really didn't like it that she chose them nevertheless. Especially, since she also made it clear that she will return them. This annoys me the most, since that is just bad for the environment. So, why did she then even care if the brand is environmentally friendly? I would have loved it, if she would have chosen outfits that she is truly interested in and which she would wear in the future.

I totally get the thing with wearing comfortable clothes! I have three pairs of jeans I wear, 2 of them are too big but very comfortable - I could live the rest of my life without taking them off. The other pair fits right, they are the right size but I don't know somehow I always get a stomach ache when I wear them for the whole day. So yeah, I'd rather buy my clothes too big and don't have pain, than having them fit right.

So to answer your garter question (As someone with a seamstress mother :p) Garters aren't usually hard to make, besides the metal (Or whatever) For the little clip-y things, but the fabric that is used for the actual cloth is pretty common and should NOT be that expensive for how little of it is used. Kim is just trying to make a cheap buck by slapping her name on whatever she possibly can. I'm assuming the fabric is silk or velvet (From what I seen), and neither is hard to find/expensive.
It actually looks like the quality is good and the stuff seems nicely shaped for the body, so all in all it did positively surprise me.

Initially, the branding really confused me. I hated the logo at first, but after looking up the website, seeing it in context made more sense. The logo seems friendly and I thought, since it was Kim's brand, it would try to push for the luxurious, exclusive feel in the actual products and other brand uses. But the prices aren't outrageous, compared to other brands. They seem like genuinely nice staple pieces (from what I've seen)
I love Skims' lounge wear. In particular their sleep pants, joggers, and leggings. It's all very expensive IMO, but I always assumed it was either her name being associated with the brand or some kind of sustainability behind everything. They have a major sizing problem seeing as the size charts don't change with new material collection launches & the sizes are always vastly different. They do have a great returns service, but it isn't fully free, there is a small fee...
