    Edit ... So I received the v95ml and absolutely can tell a difference w highs . I've only listened to a couple of albums and can definitely hear more natural pickup . LuvIt ! Thanx to all that chimed in on it also 😀

    Just installed 95ml (upgrade from 95E) on an ATLP120XBT connected to Pioneer LX505. Big difference in clarity in mids and highs! Every string pluck is perfectly defined & clearly resonant along with the mids. And system just sounds cleaner all around! Definitely worth every penny! Even though i love drop D bass rumble and was hoping for deeper bass. It just cleans up the bass too and i rely on my sub to push that. Awesome upgrade!!

    The VM95E is the best value in phono cartridges available today. The ML styli is a worthwhile upgrade for sure.

    Hi! This is a very great and helpful video. Thanks a lot. I consider to upgrade my VM95E. In your comparison video I could here more clarity with the ML needle , but you are right, the E needle is very close. I also expected a bigger difference. A very valid argument however is the longer lifetime of the ML. I guess I will give the ML a try too. Thanks again for helping to find my decision!

    I've tried all the AT-VM95 range on my turntable with my Linn K9 cartridge & I think that anyone starting off with the AT-VM95c you will not have much problem going right through to the AT-VM95SH only that it gives you that piece of mind that you have reach the top of the range but.. as albums get older it's not a big problem to change the stylus in 1 minute down to which ever one you feel is going to make your music & stylus's last & also give you lots of fun keeping a chart on what you are playing & what stylus you are using to give you extra fun in the Hi Fi of music, But I had to save up my £££s before I made my way to the Shibata.. Great video as well.

    I just bought the same Audio-Technica LPW50PB as you have here and I love it - I will definitely buy the ML instead of the same E-stylus it came with when its worned out.
    I just wish they also came in a black version...but the red looks good on the all black turntable too.

    Fellow MicroLine stylus owner here! 🙂 I have the Audio-Technica AT440MLb. Compared to my previous ones yes, more detail and clarity, it also tracks the inner grooves better but it can be a bit 'bright' - it's not 'night and day' better than my previous carts...yet its still the best of the three I've owned.

    I bought a brand new pickup with the 95E and upgraded to ML 2 days later, feeling like the 95E was missing on the mids. Huge upgrade everywhere, especially on the lows and mids. What a difference! I have a pair of Wharfdales 4 Ohms. Huge sound, high detail, no distortion.

    Most stylus have a difference. Most are similar but yet SO MUCH different, depending on your audio preferences. IMO the AT95ML is AMAZING with everything and every style music, much better than the 95E.
    The AT95E is a really good stylus though, just not close to the 95ML, if you can afford to upgrade.

    Yeah, I agree that the ML sounds better, however the E is still fantastic. The ML is more tolerant of poorly pressed albums and seems to play with slightly less surface noise. I generally track both the E and ML at 1.5 to 1.75.

    I heard the comparison and if I ever will be back into vinyl in think that it's totally worth it.
    I wonder how much the different stylus types wear the record, maybe you could do a video about it! I would assume the lighter the better and the more contact area on the groove the better, but don't know if such a stylus exists with both the properties

    Hi I too found it a disappointment . As you so rightly said not much difference in the 2 of them . I was hopping for a much bigger gap in highs and lows ,But no there's comes a time when you have to say. I would rather pay a few pound more than the vmn95ml and see the bigger picture. Also a taff so nice presentation easy to follow and a great bench make in Audio Technica cartridges. Gerald

    I want to replace Audio Technica ATN3600L sylus for the Audio Technica ATN95E stylus. Can I do this the way you did it or do I need to fit a new cartridge? Can't be bothered with wiring or alignment. I hope this question. makes sense (PS) i have a Pioneer PL-30-k which has a removable headshell.

    • @UTILITARIANTVUK
      @UTILITARIANTVUK  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The ATN95E stylus is not compatible with the 3600L body, so you would need to also change the cartridge for the AT-VM95E.
      I would only recommend the change if your turntable has an adjustable downforce.

    The difference between the E and the ML styli is night and day. IGD was so bad with the E stylus that I ended up using the XP3 cartridge that came with my AT-LP140XP. Unless you have a really bad pressing, as long as your setup is right, the only way an ML will give you IGD is if the stylus is worn down and needs to be replaced. I'm of the opinion that you should skip the E stylus altogether and get at least the EN, but I would also suggest that you work towards the ML if you don't start out there :)

    I've had both 95E and 95ML, don't expect miracles from micro-line stylus. Yes, it has better sound quality on the new one recordings but on the older, used vinyls It still sounds like garbage, even after proper alligning. You can still hear distortion on all of those older albums in the center of pressing and since 70% of my collection are older ones I find out useless to buying micro-line stylus since 95e is cheaper and (on the older albums) sounds nothing worse compare to the ML version.

    The difference between the two styluses in your video would be much more apparent when demonstrated in a much higher quality deck arm and phono pre amp. These items would highlight the differences immediately. Putting a higher quality cartridge in a lesser quantity deck will result in the cartridge highlighting the weaknesses of the rest of the system. The AT95ml deserves at least a rega planar 2 and something such as a clearaudio concept with high quality phono stage pre amp will tell you exactly what is going on. In this context the difference is night and day making the ML a bargain over the already excellent 95e

  • @bondgabebond4907
    @bondgabebond4907 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have the ML and it is a charmer. Look at it this way, the AT95E is a great sounding cartridge. I feel the record was not the greatest for a test. Maybe Emerson Lake and Palmer's Trilogy would reveal more difference. Who knows. I do feel the ML is better enough to upgrade.
    I have both the 95E and 95ML on heads, easily switchable. Got it because many of my records are about 50 years old and feel this is going to get into the grove better where there is less wear and tear. My old records sound nice with 95ML, and in many cases, quite a bit better than with the 95E.

  • @yuriykorotkevych8838
    @yuriykorotkevych8838 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I've recently upgraded from E to ML, and here are my thoughts. It's not night and day difference indeed. But ML tracks much better than E, considerably improving quality of reproduction of high frequencies. So it's worth the cost difference if you can't stand excessive sibilance of conical and elliptical stiluses, esp. on inner tracks, and don't mind a little brighter and just a hair "lighter" sound. And, taking into account that according to Audio Technica ML should last about three times longer than E, the cost difference becomes almost non-existent.

    • @yuriykorotkevych8838
      @yuriykorotkevych8838 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      One more thing. After upgrading to ML, you may be surprised how much better some of your quite worn second-hand records can sound. It may happen if the record was played quite heavily with a conical or elliptical stylus, but was maintained well otherwise. I think it's due to the fact that ML's spot of contact has significantly elongated shape and therefore it can use more of undamaged part of the groove above and below the part worn out by conical or elliptical one previously. On the other hand, for the same reason ML can pick up more pops and clicks from dust and dirt stuck deep in the groove.
