Appreciated the run through Bob,thanks for sharing👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Thank you Alan,
I appreciate you watching.

Bob
Very cool! Loved watching this.
Thank you,
It’s meant to show the technique and the measurements and to give the audience a taste of what Bespoke Turning is. If they like it they can slowly invest in the tools to
Improve their pen quality but the technique is the same and they will be well practiced when they do upgrade tooling.
Regards,
Bob
@@RJBWoodTurner I love it - that's exactly why I was watching! Thank you!!
Hello Bob. Well done for such an excellent and detailled video. It makes the process very clear. Very neat tips to avoid those traps that knock you back to square one and test your patience and determination to succeed.
Need to get into the shop and try one out.
Thanks for sharing.

Great video really enjoyed it. Once I get my collet chucks I believe i have everything to get started. Miss your podcast. How about a reunion of the group and a new episode every couple of months
We have talked about a reunion several times but our schedules never align.

Great info. I think I will stay with kit pens till I get more experience.
Thank you.
I completely understand.

Bob
Super job done ! Interesting video of how managed a good Bespoke pen turning 👍
Thank you kwstas.
Great Video Bob - Thank You. It sure makes me want to go out and buy some triple start taps and dies, bespoke mandrels and stuff. You sure made it look easy. Have you ever tried making a more traditional fountain pen "hourglass" shaped section / tip for your Rollerball pens?
Thank you David, I sure have, take a look at my Bespoke Playlist:

@@RJBWoodTurner whoa there Bob didn’t think you could use the word kit less🤣
@@meawayfromhomeLOL, that was from before I was corrected. I need to change the name of the playlist but it gets so many hits that I hate to remove it and leave people without connectivity.
Great video!
Thank you Angi.

You remind me of my college day Professor of Mechanical Engineering. Very lucidly explained. Pls accept my best wishes . Regds
Thank you very much.

Thanks again for such a detailed tutorial Bob. I'll have to rewatch it a few times. thanks for mentionioning the metric sizes as well. Does the pdf mention those for the drill bits as well?
Thank you,
Yes both imperial and metric are listed in the PDF. I do recommend taking measurements as you go to be more accurate. You never know when drilling or cutting a tenon. It you’re 1mm off then the depths after that step could all Chang.
Regards,
Bob
@@RJBWoodTurner yes my drilling is usually more of the diagonal persuasion 🙂
@@RubenWoodcraftbeen there, done that. 😀
Nice video! I dig it!
Thank you Joshua,

Why can’t bespoke pens be called kitless? And why would someone look down upon someone for calling it a kitless pen?
I was corrected for calling them that. It
Implies cheap and at the pen shows where they sell them, they will correct you.
A lot of work goes into making them and I guess people just want that recognized.
Regards,
Bob
@@RJBWoodTurner implication is in the eye of the beholder I guess. To me, the terms bespoke and artisanal could refer to any handmade pen, even ones that involve buying kits, so kitless sounds more technically accurate
Go for it. 😁
Go for it. 😁
Can this be done with hardwood?
Threading is the issue. You would need to make inserts. Also, if you make a fountain pen the inside of the cap will need a full insert to stop the ink from drying out.
Do experiment though you will learn from trying.

Bob
