Two Major mistakes: First, Nassau County Eisenhower park is a 90 minute drive from New York City. For the vast majority of New York city residents this wasn't in New York it was in an outer suburb. Couple that with the high prices this wasn't a New York City event at all. Second, ICC completely dropped the ball on the media coverage. ESPN barely covered this. All the news coverage you are seeing is just local news and not National news. Barely any of the national channels even mentioned the matches.
I completely agree that if the point of playing Cricket in USA was to promote it then it should have been all over local US news. It is sad the way ICC handled the US part. Could have kept the ticket prices lower.
All these games are scheduled in New york are to show potential to local administration. In MLC, new york has its own team, who are obligated to build a stadium in new york. So this is to market the sport's potential to ask for real estate. As the county saw more than 100 million dollars in revenue, in just few weeks, they will listen to MLC teams. Also T20 has big ad potential with more than 100 10 sec ads, in 3.30 hrs, per match, this will be a darling for television networks.

The main thing is Indians .. as soon as white people see Indians playing cricket here they loose interest . Maybe if it was English people doing it then it would be different but they are not invested into cricket
On the contrary I believe the pitches have given the matches a fair chance of a good game. We are used to see 200-250 score with batsman hitting the bowlers all over the ground. There is hardly anything for the bowlers and it has become very boring. Having a good wicket for the bowlers really shows the character of a batsman and highlights the importance of skill rather than just hitting blindly
This is the first time cricket was introduced to US in big way. Businesses have seen the potential, US team looks great, so why hinder cricket. NHL is not popular in southern parts of US, still more teams also Florida has strong teams, when it is never winter there. If you can have NHL then you can also have cricket. Its could be sport for more newcommers and great way to bring all togather.
Yes you are right, batsmen didn't apply themselves properly on this pitches. Due to excess ipl and flat pitches cricket batsmen has became impatience to deal with bowlers here.
The history of United States cricket begins in the 18th century. The first game was between the USA and Canada and held in 1844 in front of an audience of 5,000 spectators in New York. Among early Americans, cricket was as popular a bat and ball game as baseball. This proves that cricket was played in America even BEFORE many countries in the British Commonwealth!
The approval process for a new stadium is long - it'll at least be 2-3 years. Also, the cost of a permanent stadium would be at least 10 times (1,000 %) more than the temporary structure put by Nassau County.
Missed opportunities by not adding a venue on the west coast. Would have showcased the game a bit better in California. Los Angeles already has some great, professional pitches and weather is perfect for cricket. Some of the games on the east coast and in Dallas had empty stands. California has huge population into cricket and experience hosting major events.
