Two Major mistakes: First, Nassau County Eisenhower park is a 90 minute drive from New York City. For the vast majority of New York city residents this wasn't in New York it was in an outer suburb. Couple that with the high prices this wasn't a New York City event at all. Second, ICC completely dropped the ball on the media coverage. ESPN barely covered this. All the news coverage you are seeing is just local news and not National news. Barely any of the national channels even mentioned the matches.

All these games are scheduled in New york are to show potential to local administration. In MLC, new york has its own team, who are obligated to build a stadium in new york. So this is to market the sport's potential to ask for real estate. As the county saw more than 100 million dollars in revenue, in just few weeks, they will listen to MLC teams. Also T20 has big ad potential with more than 100 10 sec ads, in 3.30 hrs, per match, this will be a darling for television networks.

On the contrary I believe the pitches have given the matches a fair chance of a good game. We are used to see 200-250 score with batsman hitting the bowlers all over the ground. There is hardly anything for the bowlers and it has become very boring. Having a good wicket for the bowlers really shows the character of a batsman and highlights the importance of skill rather than just hitting blindly

The history of United States cricket begins in the 18th century. The first game was between the USA and Canada and held in 1844 in front of an audience of 5,000 spectators in New York. Among early Americans, cricket was as popular a bat and ball game as baseball. This proves that cricket was played in America even BEFORE many countries in the British Commonwealth!

Doesn't the judgement depend on what the expectations were because it's perhaps more critical than appreciative of the goodness it brought. Major League funding and progress and formation of a viable USA team are two great successes. I am sure money was made by ICC as well as some of the hosting towns (sad for washed out games). It's easy to think that all that stadium could be saved but it's an expensive proposition that operational aspects involve and no one is going to Nassau county to play on a regular basis. Organic growth should come and to truly promote the game a lot of inclusive pregame day community activities, competitions, mock games mixed with baseball players, activities for school and college students, etc. should have been planned. Perhaps the best way to do that is by hosting a series between Team USA and other national teams than within the world cup agenda.

This was not a tournament to expand the game in North America. It was designed to grab maximum amount of money from a tiny, cricket-starved expat community. Many games start at 10 a.m. on weekdays, and ticket prices are out of this world. 99% of the general public have not heard of and have no interest in the game. The only interest was from the immigrant communities of Indians, Sri Lankans, Pakistanis, and a smattering of other cricket-playing nations. Even in the expat-communities, the 1st generation American/Canadian kids have very little interest in cricket, as they get massively exposed to Baseball, Football, Basketball, and Hockey. Don't kid yourselves thinking that game will take hold among the general population. Not in the short term.

This channel has general tendency to blame USA and whatever they do. So something like this was expected. I live in the US and I know exactly what is going on in USA. There are many leagues and kids are now playing the sport at elementary and middle school level. We can say that in ten fifteen years USA will be a team like Australia, a force to reckon with. USA sporting events are all about the money and they definitely saw the potential of cricket to bring in the big money. They are going to overspend any country on building cricket sporting infrastructure and once kids get into it this you will see phenomenal athletes emerge because US has a huge sports culture. The games in Nassau county were quite enjoyable even with low scores and people who attended loved it. The facilities were not great due to it being temp but this is USA. You have all kinds of stuff outside the stadium to enjoy. I think the fans loved it. They think the games bought like over $150 million to the region. Americans were happy to get the little boost to their economy. They may not understand the fame that much but in time they will get it. Especially because it is better than baseball.

And even britishers gave up on cricket like time back . Now it’s more like a old tradition rather then something competitive

Is MLB, NBA and American Football global games? Soccer is not popular in US either. Cricket has started investing in the US market only now in a real sense. Even if it gets 10% population playing it the revenue would be higher than revenue from England, Australia and New Zealand combined.

Americans don't need this lazy game. Indian - Americans need because they will not be able to play other than cricket. Americans are a sporting nation who are world class in track and field, soccer, basketball, tennis, boxing, rugby etc They lead in medal tally in olympics. Rather India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka etc who are mad after this lazy game cricket should work hard to develop other games in which they are zero.

IPL is boring. Just some idiots watching a tamasha where there is no even contest between bat and ball. Just have a bowling machine , why are bowlers even required in IPL.
