They target an ignorant audience that is desperate to have their bias confirmed. Creationists are not trying to prove it is true, their purpose is only to manufacture doubt of evolution, to people predisposed to want it to be false, through deception.
Remember though, the forbidden fruit is 'knowledge of good and evil'. They didn't eat the fruit, that's why they can act like this and not understand they're lying, or to keep it christian, doing 'evil'.
The amount of reading you did to prepare your script easily surpasses the amount of reading used to create this documentary.
Isn't that always the case? You can make a super outlandish claim and don't do any research whatsoever but anyone refuting that claim might have to, depending on how silly your claim is, go all the way back to elementary science to properly address your buffoonery. That's not to say I don't deeply respect Pauls effort at all, of course.

Patience is a finite resource, so when the lunatic walks into the NASA conference and tells everyone the moon is made of cheese and they're all in on covering it up, they don't have the spare bandwidth to talk this guy into a basic understanding. Religious people own most of everything. That is not necessarily saying that religious leaders are believers. Some religious leaders are non believers or believers without fear of consequences within the belief system and still corrupt and scam
I think most people overestimate how important religion was in the past. In the 1700s, religion was more important than it is today, but it hardly dominated public life. That was the century when atheism began to be an acceptable belief in the West.

There are a few different heat problems with the young Earth: radiation from radioactive decay, lithification of the rock layers, plate tectonics, volcanic eruptions, and meteor impacts. Any given one is enough to kill all life on Earth when the needed processes are compacted into the young Earth timeframe. Some are enough to boil the oceans and melt the crust. All are ignored in this video.
In discussions like this, it's important to note that geologists once assumed that the Biblical flood narrative was true. They tried to figure out which sediments were laid down before, during and after the flood. But they discovered that there was no evidence for a global flood and had to come up with other theories instead. We have the geology of today because Christian geologists in the past were forced to conclude that there was no global flood.

Carl Linnaeus was essentially trying to find created kinds. Before evolution, and before any sort of DNA testing, and with the fossil record being far shorter then it is today, the further he looked into the relatedness of species the more he was puzzled. As every kind seemed related in someway to the other kinds. He developed taxonomy, and was the first to point out that humans were apes, challenging the other scientists at the time to explain how humans weren't. They really couldn't.
He was a creationist and even he noticed this.
That was a common thing. In general, post Roman Empire scientists considered their researches as attempts to understand the working of God.
This also happened in astronomy, they found out about the real universe because they wanted to make better horoscopes and needed the position of planets (huygens, kepler)

I disagree. I think the scientific method was invented to resolve conflicting ideas. If it wasn't necessary to find an objective way to find true things then the scientific method would've never been.
Another way to put it, the constant critiques of evolution is what drives donations into more research, more discoveries, and more creative ways to explain the evidence to the next generation. If there wasn't this constant push back, I highly doubt we would know half as much.
A minor correction: it's not wave amplitude that affects pitch or color but rather wave frequency.

12:13 There certainly was a "fact checking" process. They made it a point to check all the scientific facts at the door in order to keep them out of the movie. Afterwards, they edited the movie to ensure all the "facts" were ones they liked.
And the fact checking attendant must have found many, many unclaimed facts after the event. They then dressed themselves up in all the facts at once and did an Instagram story!
To say that Paul has trouble with pronouncing non-English names would be to put Descartes before the horse. It does nothing to negate his valid observations, but it greatly distracts from them.
I like to chalk it up to his Canadian accent, which makes it extra funny because of that proximity to the Quebecois

When i was in YEC, my understanding was that the flood waters were held back by the firmament. The stars were seen through this firmament and water and were closer than what science says. Flood happens when god breaks the firmament. Whole environment changes, carnivory happens blah blah blah. All bollocks of course.

I'm sure that someone could provide an explanation of what, say, Gwandanaland may have looked like, based on rock formations, fossils and dates.
But I don't see how there can be any scientific evidence for what the world looked like before a fictional flood didn't actually take place.

I always roll my eyes at “people only believe evolution because they’re brainwashed”. I was kept very sheltered in Christian environments (no TV, etc) & raised exclusively in YEC education until college and taught that evolution is impossible, full stop. Now creationists have to admit speciation happens but say it’s not REAL evolution for vague reasons, as you point out.
I became atheist in my 30s before seeing a single YEC debunk video or learning what evolution actually means, and when i did i was SO angry. Both my parents have college degrees in scientific fields and had to do truly Olympic feats of cognitive dissonance to educate their kids the way they did, which crippled all of us for further education in the real world. Only one of us graduated college, and that was a seminary institution.
Working through the video, at continental drift. Continental drift was initially denied because the person who proposed it didn't have a valid mechanism. He suggested wave motion, but it wasn't until later that scientists found continental rifts. Continental drift didn't become accepted until the 1960s.

Exactly. The 40th chapter of Isaiah clearly says that the earth is flat, yet most creationists and biblical literalists don't believe in a flat earth. It's almost like even fundies are aware of how absurd the old testament is when interpreted in this manner.
Creationists don't _use_ science - they _mimic_ science. They pretend to operate on the same level, as if this was a scientific dispute over the interpretation of a certain set of data. This strategy makes them seriously dangerous - don't mistake ruthlessness for stupidity. They still want to get their foot into the classrooms, and they are already 3/4 there.

Technically, the only thing this can seriously clarify as is fantasy. The fact that the authors (probably) believe it doesn't play into what it turned out as.

I have an acquaintance who is a YEC. What shocked me was the fact that she did not know that the YEC 6,000-year figure for the age of the world came from genealogical calculations of Bishop James Ussher in the 17th century.

Creationists are reallly only proficient in one thing: projecting all their insecurities about their own beliefs onto scientists.
As someone who was raised a creationist christian it's hilarious to see creationists saying evolution is indoctrination or even saying "evolutionists" as its not a religion.

OMG, they are actually quoting William Tifft's bogus theory. William Tifft was my instructor in Galactic Astronomy when I was an undergrad at U of Arizona. Really nice guy, but he was an observational astronomer, not a theoretical physicist. His "Quantum Temporal Time" model equates to nothing more than numerology. I should add that he was not simply ignored. They held an international symposium, which included Alan Guth and other well-known physicists, they heard him out (he had a mathematician with him that worked out the details of the 'theory' but I don't remember his name). They shredded his premises and interpretation of his observations. After multiple attempts to publish his theory in peer-reviewed journals, and getting rejected because his claims were unsubstantiated. He did what all the "rogue scientists" do when their pet theories do not receive the acclaim that they believe they deserve, he published a book, outside of the scientific peer-reviewed community.
Why are we taking these people seriously
Because their efforts to create doubt in reality to promote their beliefs have actual impact upon our lives as they are heavily involved in political discourse. Their influence is felt in the US no matter how ridiculous they may seem.
Because too many people do.
Lots of Indoctrinated children are being lied to, because these people can't let go of their ancient mythology that let's them tell themselves they are "good"
