personaly I love the chorus in the old tower before they try there last attack. Since its fitting the ingame universe and also fits the song so much.
During the live chat after the premiere, Bernhard Hennen (the guy with the map in the video, that you see dieing first) said that he wrote this scene for the novel exactly like this, without knowing the video before.
ca. 6:47 : Another Tidbit of information about the collarboration with The Dark Eye: The Finsterwacht is something like a chain of Perls of Watchtowerfs in Aventurien, which are put at the Borders to the Land of Orks. Their Duty is to light the firesignal, when the Orks are attaking, so that everyone will be allerted.

9:05 love this part, not only giving me chills for the fact how it builds up, but as it remembered me of so many battles with friends in that german 40 year old equivalant of DnD.
Songs by fans integrating places, names and gods in a song can feel cheesy or almost cringe, but SMxBG did such quality job to let it sound real, belieavable and epic!
For everyone's wondering about the lyrics of the choir:

This gets then intertwined with the solo lines:

ca. 4:21 : Okay, that one is a little bit of information, that you can't know: That guy in the Picture is "Berhard Hennen", a german Author who was part of a collarboration between Saltatio Mortis, Hennen and a Co-Athor whos Name I fogot and Ulisses Spiele, the german publisher of the Tabletop RPG "Das schwarze Auge" (I think the lanst english Translation a few years Back was "The dark Eye"), who all put a part to the Special Edition Box of "Finsterwacht".
My favorite band makes an album about my favorite game. Do I need to say more? So many little details from the world of "The Black Eye" in the video, what I like best is that Mümmelstein places his sword hand in a fist on his chest during the choral singing to Rondra (goddess of honorable combat)... that's the Rondra salute. July 12th, Finsterwacht (the song) will be published in English as "Darkenguard". Now that this is underway, I have high hopes for the longer version, too... 😊

ca. 13:13 : Nope. The fires aren't a call for aid. They are a warning signal, which says "Brace yourselfs, Orcs are coming". So the lightning of the tourches is far more important than the individual lives of the soldiers from the "Finsterwacht".

This is really epic! Finster means very dark, wacht means guard. These guardians have to warn the people of their hometown when enemies (for example these orcs) are approaching and - if possible - try to prevent them from reaching the town. In vain as you can see. By the way, Alea is a trained Kung Fu fighter. Therefore the fighting scenes with him look so fantastic.

@@Jaimunji Update on the May 31st event: it seems to be some sort of radioplay in connection with the video and a livestream, but I am not quite sure how it will turn out in the end. If part of the extension is audio only, it might be a tad unsatisfying. The band have announced it already, but have not yet posted a time.

It features the world of the German PnP-RPG "The Dark eye". Actually, the SaMo Album is a theme album for a new RPG campaign of said RPG, and AFAIK, some band members also appear as NPCs in that campaign. 🙂
The dying guy with the map is one of the campaign's authors.
Edit: The song is about the "dark watch", a group of ppl protecting the land of the humans from the orks on several strongholds along the "Finsterkamm" (the dark mountains). Apparently some members currently are witnessing an onslought of orcs, trying to warn the rest of their people.
Yes and No: Berhard Hennen wrote a novel based on the Aventurien Setting of the Finsterwacht, but he is not responsible for the "Chose your own Adventure"-Book about the Finsterwacht, which is although a part of the Spacial Edtion Box.
