@simonsenliam Just watching the video again with the missus mate and we planned to do a Birkenhead Bar crawl this summer.. added the Garrick snug on that list 👍👍
Another great review. Noticed the continuing improvement in your editing - good stuff. Will definitely be visiting the Snug next time in town. You are spot on that the staff and the way you are treated are most important reason for going back (quality beer is also essential!) 😊 The manager is sound! The Turkish gaff also looks amazing!
Thanks mate, I should have spent more time on this, I was sitting on it for a while and I didn't want to put people off by making it so long which is worked well veiw wise. I could have went over it.
Great to see ya back 👏👏😉 Great view into the Snug, never been in, past the place a million times. I'm going and that Turkish place too, looked quality.
This was never a micro pub. It was built as a snug bar for the Hippodrome Theatre which was around the corner on Grange Road. The theatre closed in the 1930s and the building became a Co Op. It was bombed in the Blitz and later demolished. In the late 50s the Co Op wanted to demolish the Garrick Snug and build a new building on the corner. The then licensee refused to sell even though he was offered a huge amount of cash. His daughter carried on running the pub until it was sold a few years back. The Co Op built their new building (still there under a different name) but had to alter the plans to fit around the pub.
Good guy, saved the video with the show around. I kept 99% of what he said even tho I wanted it closer to 15 mins because I'll give him the best opportunity to promote his pub.
@@simonsenliam always wanted to go in there but worried there might be pensioners with leather jackets and flick knives.. might pop in now you survived it 💪
Thanks mate, smaller videos give me a better opportunity to do nice edits, it's difficult to randomly go to a place and get nice stuff to edit, also working really hard to get into shape so it's hard to fit drinking in and it's also harder to film while drinking lol so I'll do a couple more shorter videos and a couple of pub videos with the practice these video will allow. I've got a video from Paris to finish off too it will be about a hour long so I'm clearing space so I can upload in the highest resolution.
I’m a huge fan of the 80s and 90s sitcom ‘Watching’ starring Birkenhead lass Emma Wray and Liza Tarbuck and that was filmed on the Wirral. I’ve been over a few times checking out the filming locations so love seeing your wirral videos mate.
its so nice iff you ever go their get the tavuk kanat and kebab the tavuk is 3 chicken wings as a starter and the kebab is 2 chicken kebabs as a main all nice and juicy@@simonsenliam

The council have ripped Birkenhead apart, but they made sure they've got a swanky new office building for themselves. Well done fellas.
Trust in the process haha
