The saying is "Everything's big *IN* Texas." My brother and I were staying in a motel in Texas once, I heard a splash, and there was my brother splashing around in what I thought was the pool, until he screamed, "Don't flush it!", everything's big in Texas.
It's pronounced Foo-air-tae, it's Spanish for strong. Great Video as always, Mailbag is becoming one of my favorite segments, it's like Christmas for you every week.
I used to have one similar, the RIO CE2100 with a 2.5gb drive. I loved that MP3, sadly it met it fate when the screen cracked, Ive still got the seagate drive kicking around though!
Dave , to pronounce ROS Fuerte : fuerte means strong in spanish , i think that's the way to say it so just google spelling in spanish for "fuerte" = strong
The Rio Carbon was around in 2004 and 2005 and was often purchased for 'Carbonising' - pulling out the Seagate 5 or 6GB Microdrive for use in digital cameras as it was worth far more by itself than the ~$249 retail of the MP3 player. I still use a Rio for every day use, modded with an 8GB CF card and I love it - I keep buying more for when one dies!
I was able to read the part number of the AVR on your uRGB MatrixDuino just before it went out of focus. It is an ATMega168-20AU. Looks like a fun board to play with if you ever decide to finish it.
The "Rio Carbon" had a 5gb segate microdrive in them. As I recall the drive was worth more in resale than the rio carbon was brand new but I decided keep mine intact.
You can go to translate.google.com > select Spanish > type the word "fuerte" > press the speaker icon in the bottom right corner = an approximate audio pronunciation! :)
Deepest Darkness zero hertz. They only 'refresh' when you change something. Static operation. Thats whh they last for weeks with the screen displaying something
In the fourth grade, I'm in the US, we had to put a picture of ourselves on a world map with a string going to where our family came from. I asked my mom and I thought she said "Australia". So my string was all by itself and the teacher was like "really". All the others kids strings went to somewhere in Europe. Well I asked her again and had to move my string to Austria with all the others kids. Explains why me mother's parents didn't sound like you. I never got to come from a fun country. :-(
Perhaps you could put mailbag on 2 days in the week, as lots of people like it so much, and you could catch up to everything faster. I really love your show, you can make 30 minutes look like 10 haha, keep up the good work.
Besides Google, which is a relatively new one: SGI, Netscape, Veritas, Verisign, Actel, Ribbit, Intuit and Award are or were headquartered in Mountain View. Plus, Moffett Field and Nasa Ames Research center are also located there. Besides which, it's a very popular place for silicon valley employees to live--has a lot of nice restaurants and parks, not as dreary as cupertino or santa clara.
Dave, the exact boundaries of "Silicon Valley" are debatable but Mountain View is *definitely* in there! I'd say most people would say it goes up to Menlo Park on the peninsula side.
I only wear a medium shirt too, and sometimes for the holidays I get a large, and they say it's almost 100% cotton, wash it on hot it will shrink. Next time gift card to Radio Shack!!

I wonder how much discount they get on parts by putting the chip manufacturers' names on the product? It's pretty common on devboards

The FPGA is 16K LUT's - hard to estimate equivalent gates as any LUT could be used for an inverter or something far more complex.
Its a word in "spanish". Either means 'strong' or a 'fort'. Is more like 'Ff-wear-ta' , no Y sound.
