Blade 230 s Open Field Flying With SAFE

  • The Blade 230s 3D helicopter has been so much fun to learn how to fly with. Only having about 20 flights run threw the helicopter (20 battery packs) so far, it was time to take advantage of the nice calm day today and fly this micro heli down at an open field to really see what its capable of and not have to worry about hitting any trees or obstacles in my small backyard.
I was flying this blade 230s on beginer mode (Safe activated) with high rates selected. Next time we will venture into intermediate mode without the help of the safe technology to aid us from falling out of the sky.....That could get interesting... so make sure your ready to see some interesting flying. ;)

Your counteracting the force of a clockwise main rotor & why i do Lefts with bit more throttle & w/o gaining lil altitude, suttle on the sticks lol This like 1st video i saw a 230s , thought it be relaxing Fun. One wasnt enough & i got 2. Perfect size for los in vacant lots & small Parks.

Enjoyed that, nice straight forward flying. I am at about your level when you made this video, after years of flying those wonderful FX fixed pitch birds I moved to the WL V950 so the learning starts all over again. Would love a 230s but here in Australia they are just SO expensive. Keep up the good work. BTW i also have T Rex 450 but I am not even game to start it yet.

Nice, I'm sure you already know about this, but I picked up a great tip ion the "tube". Assigning 3D mode to a separate switch allows me to fly my 230s in normal, idle up1 and idle up 2 all with self leveling switched on. Great for practicing circuits on highest head speed. And then with the flick of 3D switch it removes self leveling. Especially good when learning to fly cp as it allows you to flu un-assisted in normal mode. ie: a lower head speed than idle up 1.
    Happy flying.

+pointnozzleaway haha thanks, and yes the SAFE feature is a huge help when it comes to flying. Heck you dont even need to learn agility or 3d mode if you dont want to. There still a blast to fly in safe mode all day long!

Wicked flying 🤙🏽 quick question I just purchased the Eflite Smart 230S BNF, how did you get SAFE programming activated when I power on my helicopter it’s not giving the surface movement you normally get letting you know SAFE is active also during flight it’s not leveling out.

The two of you make great video's! I have been thinking of getting a helicopter. But one of my local rc shops has the Xiro Drone Xplorer (with no gimbal/camera) for about half price. So getting one of them.

I can't believe .. The last time I bought a heli it was a Novus CP, and a Novus FP the small ones. (Both still flying) I just bought a blade 120s. OH MY GOD how much fun this new tech is!!! I am going to buy this night heli after flying the 120 for 6 months or so. I have been into RC cars trucks and motorcycles for 25 years. Flying a heli is by far the hardest, but E-flite just made it fun for me.. The price is amazing.. I can easily spend $1,000+ building a truck, and recently have. My only expense with the 120s so far is batteries..

Just purchased mine yesterday. Haven’t flown in 10 years so pretty stoked. Little disappointed in the flight time tho. Horizon suggested a onyx 1200mah battery for maybe close to 8 minutes?? What’s your suggestions and thoughts on squeezing more flight time out of it? Thanks

    • @peterknap

      Kavan 11,1V 1300mA, 17min.👍

  • @bushpilot4234

Still rocking plastic mains. The carbon fibers are half the weight w/ 35% increase in performance. Boom supports only add weight that u do not need. I use a tattu lipo 1300 mah 45 C. 60 mph bird. The battery weighs twice as much as the stock lipo. But the longer fly time and extra power is worth it.

To fly like this guy is, on stability mode? None, whatsoever. Zero. He's using this like it's a fixed pitch heli.

    • @bushpilot4234

Check the direction of the tail blade, reverse it, should work. Then if not check the ESC.

Check Tx settings, uploading a new ready (system) file should work. If not, check if your socks are not tangled in the rotor.

Why are you calling that a Micro? Its about half the size of a 450 but much bigger than those true micro helis I have been shopping around trust me, thats NOT Micro.I just traded a 300 Extra Balsa plane for a 450 Pro Trex, all upgraded, metal parts. I am not ready for collective pitch yet. The WL Toys 913 I fly is a bus, it flys.....thats basically it. Nice Heli, really nice.

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  7 ปีที่แล้ว

+Cooldibs you half to start small buddy. Blade has some great starting out helis for anyone who may even be interested in trying it. They have the Blade 120s its a small heli fixed pitch witch means it wont do aerobatics but its perfect to learn how to fly on. Plus if something breaks its extremely cheap to repair. Im going to pick up a few more beginner helis to show everyone. Seems like alot of people are interested but are a bit afraid...lol ill show everyone how easy it actually its soon.

+kippercat123 haha. I do plan on testing the panic button when i head back out again. Weather has been horrible lately. But in the mean time enjoy the 230s. Its a blast! Throttle is a bit sensitive...at least for a noob to helis like myself. Lol but otherwise its very easy to fly.

  • @henryairconcepts2999

I'm a bit disappointed with this heli actually. For some reason the tail spins out of control after doing some 3D flying sometimes, and the receiver isn't programmable
