    I was actually there for the taping at the ABC studio at 0:51 Prospect and Talmage in Hollywood. It was a long evening and Monty was not in a very good mood.

    This is a May 1976 pilot episode from the American unsold game show "Talking Pictures" and it pays a tribute to late host Monty Hall. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

    This is an updated version of a "Talking Pictures" pilot done in the 1960s with Allen Ludden hosting. Thanks for sharing this, Wink!

    Lots of fun. Always great to see these game show celebrities having such fun.

    What an early birthday present!! Another rare pilot!
    The celebs were funny, the set was pretty neat for the time, Monty Hall is his usual self; this combines elements of Hollywood Squares, Concentration, and a bit of Wheel of Fortune. Another shame that ABC passed on this one, too.
    Thanks so much for this upload, Wink. ❤️❤️

    This is a very rare 1970's game show classic!!

    I do prefer the '68 pilot, but there are some interesting pluses to this pilot. But what's more intriguing, is that even though filmed later, more celebs from the '68 pilot are still alive today (December 2023), three of the ten to be exact. Only Jaye P. Morgan is still alive from this pilot.

    I found it very interesting, I think they should have gone 30 seconds in the bonus round. I wouldn't have done too great at it, thank you for sharing this .

    This was a good concept and interesting. I wish the bonus round was not so difficult to win. 25 seconds is ridiculous.

    A slightly more complex version of a similar game hosted by Allen Ludden only his had 10 celebrities one of which was a red herring!

    It’s like Eye Guess meets Personality with a weird movie theme tacked on.

    I like this one better than the 1970 attempt hosted by Allen Ludden...two less celebrities and more variety to the questions improved the game, IMO. Oh, and Rochelle would go onto greater fame a few years later when she attacked Robert Donner after the latter helped her win on Match Game!

  • @AdamJ617
    @AdamJ617 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Rochelle not only went on to become a contestant on MG (SYN), but she was also on the Keynotes pilot in 1986.

    The pilot wasn't too bad, plus it further immortalized Soupy Sales' crazy stunt he did working for WNEW-TV in New York on that show of his!
    My only question: What year was the pilot taped? I know it was the 1970s, but WHEN? o.O

      Research suggests 1976. Apparently Hall’s Shoot For The Stars and Waiting Game pilot were also being shopped around ABC at this time

    • @bmasters1981
      @bmasters1981 ปีที่แล้ว

      IIRC, this was made in 1976 for ABC at ABC Prospect in Hollywood (then known as ABC Television Center).

    • @someguy23475
      @someguy23475 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably 1976. This was one of two pilots shot to replace Let’s Make A Deal (the other was Shoot for the Stars). Monty later said in an interview ABC didn’t even look at either pilot.

  • @ryanstrnad8442
    @ryanstrnad8442 ปีที่แล้ว

    The second I first saw this, I was thinking this was another attempt at Barry & Enright's "Pot o Gold". Yet, Monty would produce it.

    It just occurred to me where I had seen contestant Rochelle Anapolski before, she was also on the Keynotes pilot hosted by Kevin O' Connell.

    the front game isn't broken, but it is clunky. it's just not a great way to play hangman. still entertaining with the right celebrities, and this panel was pretty solid.

    I believe that Rochelle was on "Match Game". She's the one who went crazy when she won the Super Match with Robert Donner and hugged the daylights out of him.

    Pretty nifty concept! Quite entertaining, fun to play along with too. So sad that of all the celebs featured, only one of them is still living as of 2023. Monty Hall is so well known for Let's Make A Deal but he did a sensational job with this game and the other pilot Shoot For The Stars, and I also thought he did really well with Split Second in the 80s as well. RIP Monty, and thank you again Wink!

    For me, this was a step down from the 1968 pilot, which wasn't that great in the first place. I understand the reason for jumbling the door numbers, but it still made my brain itch.
    I remember Zsa Zsa's scandalous slapping of a cop in the 1980s, but I never knew she'd been arrested in Spain for the same thing in the past. She sure didn't like to be told what to do.

    Interesting show. I think the initial game needed some work. Too many misses on the guesses. Also, probably would have been difficult to get a wide variety of celebrities to go on the show.

    Decent game, it solved the problem the other one had where the celebs hardly got any camera time, But here it's like they overcompensated. Bonus game is a bit tough, they could have easily given the contestant the full 30 seconds.
