I've found if you roll the dice on 4 or 5 drops on the first pick it limits the options to a point where you seem to have a decent chance of getting one drop charge or 2 drop lifesteal rush on the second beast.

I think that last game highlights something about Death Stalker Rexxar. When the card came out in KotFT, we all knew it was going to be insane, but nobody gave it the time of day because Hunter didn't have a then viable deck to put it in. The amount of life steal and value that card gave that last game proves how bokners it is.

To be fair deathstalker couldn't roll lifesteal or rush until witchwood which makes it an awful control tool since his hunter would have simply died in like 2 turns after playing it since he was never healing past 7 health.
I'm not saying it is lol, I'm just pointing out the flaw in card/game design that leads to a class literally having an entire late game built out of one single card.

Edit: the more I go back and look at it, the more I get so frustrated. What could punish a cube play? Unleash, owl, mark? The odds of that happening are far fucking less than DK rexxar.

So I'm not sure if you'll like this response, but I found the best way to get through that Rank 20-12 bracket that's littered with dozens of Odd Rogue and Heal Zoo is to play Odd Paladin. I find that I win about 80% of the time against them if I have a 1 drop on turn one or draw one Unidentifed Maul.
Just so you know, I'm running the Mech variant with War Gear and Bronze Gatekeeper, not the standard Odd list with Corridor Creeper and such. I find that if I go coin turn 4 Giggling into War Gear on Annoyotron I just snowball to win the game against aggro.
It only does something in the taunt druid match up which he was fine in anyway. The only reasonable cut would be owl so you dont run 3 silence on 3, but tinkmaster is hot garbage in most other match ups compared to owl ESPECIALLY DR Hunter where if you ever give them a 5/5 it is probably getting cubed and you are very sad.
Can we talk about how Deathrattle Hunter has become one of the "all the usual decks" after like 3 years of Blizzard pushing it
