- This video shows how to easily overcome the resonance noise of the Panasonic 5 Bladed Ceiling Fan, F-M14C7. This fan is a popular make and model in Malaysia. It is a durable model with its only common problem being the noise caused by the resonance of the capacitors. My fan is 11 years old and is now quiet. The original Circuit Board can be purchased at any Panasonic service centre. You just have to quote the model number of your fan. The model number can be found on your remote control. I hope this video helped you solve your problem.

Thanks for your tip that the loose fitting of the circuit board may cause resonance. I have a similar fan, a 4-blade F-M14C8 with a headache-size buzzing noise. In my case, the loose fitting of the circuit board wasn’t the problem. Since you alerted the vibration issue, it led me to think of loose screws, a possible result after many years of rotation. Remove the decorative cover, you will see 2 screws holding each blade to the motor body. Use hex screwdriver to tighten all screws. Do the same to the 2 screws holding the circuit board assembly to the motor body. And buzzing noise is gone! Anybody can do it. With just a ladder and hex screwdriver. No need to remove the circuit board or dismantle anything else. I should have watched your video first instead of the others which recommended changing the capacitors, which I did and spent good money buying them plus a welding set!

Omg i tried your method by removing the cover part that holding the motor body, there're few screws inside, although its already quite tight the screw, but still i tighten it even more, and the buzzing sounds gone almost 80-90%! It has been troubling my sleeping patterns year. Thank you so much!!
@@woao_ Good that you can now sleep better. My rule is to tighten any screw that I can see. With no more vibration, the motor can run smoothly & I guess this means the capacitor no longer has to struggle to supply a higher electric current. My fan is still working silently to this day!

OMG. I've fixed it!! For years I've been looking for videos on youtube to fix the noise. Some suggested drip oil which doesn't work for me. Thank you for posting this video. I did 100% as you did, clean off the dust since I've taken it out. Once I install it back, the fan became quiet instantly.
Wonderful! Glad to hear this. You know, I am not a great DIY type of person, although my background is in mechanical engineering. I was lucky that the part just needed to be refitted properly. Am so happy that many people have benefitted from this.

Glad to have been of help! Incidentally, I did this video about 4 years ago, and a few months back, I finally changed the Panasonic circuit board for RM78. After changing the circuit board, the fan is again behaving like it's brand new. Good motor and great bearings. My fan is now 13 years old and running like new. ❤
@@nanthanithiahnanthan6340 i tried buying 2 copy chip version and 2 original panasonic. Tbh the copy version looks much cleaner and sturdier. Price wise during sale was just RM35 with delivery. Let's see how long the original and copy last down the road 😅. Also, Thanks again for your contribution to other panasonic/kdk fan owners out there saving their wallet from unnecessary wastage 👍
Thank you! I did as you said, and saw that the original circuit board had some "blu tack" underneath all the capacitors that appears to have dried out and no longer holding on to the capacitors. I took out some of my own blu tack and just added a little bit underneath each capacitor to make sure they are stuck down and no more buzzing sound.

Thank you very much, Mr Nantha! Absolutely the most helpful video on this subject. Together with the additional viewers comments, this has done the trick for me. When the fan speeds drop or become erratic, a new circuit board is probably the best solution. If the problem is noise alone, some quick work with the screwdrivers should be enough. Buying capacitors and a soldering kit is a lot of hassle- it should be possible to source a new board from the Panasonic spares shop in PJ or, failing that, from Mudah, Carousell or eBay.
I'm glad you benefitted from this video. It's been a year since I posted this and I feel so thankful that people are still saving money and from this. FYI, this fan is now 12 years old and runs silently most of the time. Occasionally, it'll make some noise, then it goes away. The bearings are really good. Hope your fan keeps going, too.
This is more interesting. I have changed 3 PCBs for 1 of my fan, and it is coming back. I'll give it a try too. Yes, I did it too, and found the 2 screws holding the PCB cluster to the shaft loosen; tightened & humming sound gone after 2 years. Thanks

I just tried what he did and it doesn't work. Since the culprit is due to vibration and the clipped PCB is not actually tight, I removed the PCB again and placed some sponge at the edge of the PCB between it and the mounting plate, to at least hold it tighter. The sound is gone... Hope this helps. . Good luck..
@@blindspot6148 Hey thanks for the heads-up! I found out the culprit was actually the plastic case at the top which covers the hook where the fan attaches to the ceiling. Just add some sponge tape to dampen the noise and voila! I have 3 other fans to go so your tip might just come in handy. Cheers!

These capacitors are not designed to last 11 years. They are wear and tear components and need to be replaced periodically. The drop in capacitance causes the noise and the true extent of damage can only be found once the capacitor is checked with a multimeter. It would be best to replace the 2 common fault capacitor, the1 black 0.82uf and 1 brown 1.8uf, if you are looking for a long term fix.

Although the fan is 11 years old, the capacitors were changed about 5 years ago by an experienced electrical repair tech. I have lost his contact and have now resorted to this quick fix. I wanted to replace the board, but the fan has been fine since this fix shown. It has already been a month and it is still running fine. Your information is most appreciated. Thank you!

There have been many comments about my screwdriver. FYI, this screwdriver is nearly 40 years old, and it was sold cheaply. I have newer, more expensive screwdrivers but this one fits more screwheads than the others. It has also been used to stir paint, glue, etc. ❤

That 3 red led suppose to lit up whenever u press anytg or what? Lets say according to speed selected? Or is it just an infrared sensor receivor for the remote?
I think they just light up for a second when you select the speed on the remote.
I could not figure out how to remove the outer cover... I tried to move it anti-clockwise but it's still stuck there...
Hi, I am assuming that you could not get that outer bezel to twist. Just hold the blades steady with 1 hand and grip the bezel with the other hand. Rotate it counter-clockwise. Once that has been achieved, a little pushing up and down should set it free. If not, then you'll have to call an electrician. Take care and wish you success.
Yes correct cover is the cause of problem.
